[Bug 50047] Re: [Bug 50047] Re: Charger Applet Problem
After I got the charge down to fifty percent, the situation remained the same. The bug would resurface once out of every five times or so when restarting gdm, but not from boot. When the bug Did resurface, Nautilus did load successfully. When I initially reported the bug, I was incapable of getting gdm to boot properly at all in the same situation; so the gnome updates that have been distributed over the last couple of weeks may have resolved part of the issue. -- Charger Applet Problem https://launchpad.net/bugs/50047 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Today I would like to view the source of a web page (epiphany: view - page source), which result in the same crash I've described above, and quite large amount of my work lost. [Bug 55057] 2006-04-21: New release 0.95 ready!
Public bug reported: Please update the Dia package, as it's the best diagram editor available! -tnx!- http://www.gnome.org/projects/dia/news.html 2006-04-21: New release 0.95 ready! Dia is now available in a new version 0.95. This release focuses on stability and ease of use, featuring a few major new features along with a host of minor improvements and bugfixes that make it easier than ever to create structured diagrams, models and illustrations for documentation, articles, modeling, presentations and many other uses. Version 0.95 adds the following major features: * New mainpoint system allows lines to be added by dragging from anywhere on one object to anywhere on another, and to always point towards the middle of an object even when that object is moved. * Python plug-ins added to create DOT output, generate Python bindings by 'self reflection', and allow round-trip engineering plug-ins. * The grid can now automatically change size depending on your zoom level. * Text input now highlights the object that receives the input, and tabbing between text input areas on one or more objects is possible. * Several security problems fixed in XFig import and Python plug-in. * Many new shapes added, including automata, Gane Sarson and AADL. * Several new UML objects added as well as some extensions to existing objects. * Full screen mode. * Improved SVG import, * Plug-in loading and unloading doesn't require restart of Dia. * Many i18n problems have been fixed, particularly in export filters. * Many bugs have been fixed, too many to mention here. * Command line usage has improved to allow the selecting of individual layers and specific output filters. * Uses the new GTK+ File Dialog. * Experimental libgnomeprint and Cairo plug-ins. ** Affects: dia (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- 2006-04-21: New release 0.95 ready! https://launchpad.net/bugs/55057 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 32879] Re: rhythmbox regression: doesn't play next song in list
I talked to gstreamer developer. After seeing error messages from quod libet (which i noticed yesterday), he said that it is probably something related to gstreamer-plugins-base, with resampling audio. He told me that they fixed many bugs in that module for 0.10.9. Installing 0.10.9 from sources fixed the problem, but now I would like to have clean solution... now my dpkg database is broken due to that i removed gstreamer packages without removing packages that depend on it. [Bug 55066] User switching burns CPU without video accleration
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver Gnome-sreensaver uses by default gl and non-gl screensavers too. On older PCs and some notebooks most opengl ones need/use more than 80% of the CPU's capacity. This may cause problems by default too (high temperature etc.). If someone changes user with the fast-user-switch applet or using the new Ubuntu logout screen, after 10 minutes screensaver may start using resources. This causes for me a CPU usage of 80% by default (with one other user). [Bug 32963] Re: Xv movies on 810/i945 gives horrible color, Gamma
I have similar washed out videos under some circumstances with an Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device using the i810 driver. This is a Dell Inspiron 710m. I'm running 6.06 LTS originally installed from an official CD with whatever updates apt offered me. My impression is that it is a totem-xine and gxine bug. If I watch movies with xine (from the xine-ui package) or mplayer after an X restart then everything is fine. xvattr information (given later) is not changed by running xine or mplayer. Movies under totem (totem-xine) are washed out. The values reported by xvattr change, but are reset after closing totem. Moves subsequently play ok in xine or mplayer. Totem can also play movies fine if xvattr values are fixed after starting totem. Movies under gxine are washed out, xvattr values are changed (although not to same values as by totem) and stay changed. Movies in xine or mplayer are washed out until an X restart or xvattr stuff changed back by hand. Again gxine plays fine if fix xvattr values by hand while gxine running. I get the following xvattr output after X restart: and stays the same after running xine(-ui) or totem(-xine): % xvattr Found Xv 2.2 Adaptor: 0 Name: Intel(R) Video Overlay Port: 73 Name: XV_COLORKEY Flags: XvGettable XvSettable Min value: 0 Max value: 16777215 Current value: 66046 Name: XV_BRIGHTNESS Flags: XvGettable XvSettable Min value: -128 Max value: 127 Current value: -5 Name: XV_CONTRAST Flags: XvGettable XvSettable Min value: 0 Max value: 255 Current value: 48 The values are reset after closing totem, but while it is running I get: % xvattr Found Xv 2.2 Adaptor: 0 Name: Intel(R) Video Overlay Port: 73 Name: XV_COLORKEY Flags: XvGettable XvSettable Min value: 0 Max value: 16777215 Current value: 66046 Name: XV_BRIGHTNESS Flags: XvGettable XvSettable Min value: -128 Max value: 127 Current value: -1 Name: XV_CONTRAST Flags: XvGettable XvSettable Min value: 0 Max value: 255 Current value: 127 After running (and closing) gxine I get: % xvattr Found Xv 2.2 Adaptor: 0 Name: Intel(R) Video Overlay Port: 73 Name: XV_COLORKEY Flags: XvGettable XvSettable Min value: 0 Max value: 16777215 Current value: 66046 Name: XV_BRIGHTNESS Flags: XvGettable XvSettable Min value: -128 Max value: 127 Current value: 0 Name: XV_CONTRAST Flags: XvGettable XvSettable Min value: 0 Max value: 255 Current value: 128 I've been fixing color washouts by running: xvattr -a XV_CONTRAST -v 48 ; xvattr -a XV_BRIGHTNESS -v -5 Why (with the default settings, which I haven't touched) don't totem/gxine just leave the xvattr settings alone? -- Xv movies on 810/i945 gives horrible color, Gamma https://launchpad.net/bugs/32963 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

A non root user should be able of using the interface to browse Samba share (using smb:/ links) and to mount it in the sytem (for any user !!! ... so it deals with privilege escalade) and to synchronise. He also should also be able to unmount it. Unfortunately I haven't enouth knowledges about programming for this. But I suggest having a look at Mac OS X about mounting Samba share (it can also mount iso file using the same way) -- Synchronize Samba share https://launchpad.net/bugs/9776 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 50047] Re: [Bug 50047] Re: [Bug 50047] Re: Charger Applet Problem
After installing some updates today, the bug resurfaced directly from boot. Nautilus did load, but again the panels were dead. Switched to VT to check network and loopback configuration, they were correct. Pings to the outside world were successful. I was also able to ssh into remote boxes as well ping the localhost. Ifconfig showed both eth0 and lo configured correctly, a dhclient of eth0 was successful. -- Charger Applet Problem https://launchpad.net/bugs/50047 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 39035] Re: [Bug 39035] Re: pygtk init modifies sys.path
Hi Dean, Sorry - I should have updated the bug report. It all seems to be fine now. I can't remember when it all started working again, although I think it was OK by the time dapper was officially released.
