[Bug 50047] Re: [Bug 50047] Re: Charger Applet Problem

2006-08-03 Thread glennus
After I got the charge down to fifty percent, the situation remained the
same. The bug would resurface once out of every five times or so when
restarting gdm, but not from boot.
When the bug Did resurface, Nautilus did load successfully.
When I initially reported the bug, I was incapable of getting gdm to boot
properly at all in the same situation; so the gnome updates that have been
distributed over the last couple of weeks may have resolved part of the
issue.

Hi daniel,

I do have evolution-dbg and evolution-data-server-dbg installed (see

something special to force evolution or eds to use the debug binaries or
do I just run them as normally?

I attach the latest gdb output.

[Bug 54386] Re: Whole gnome session crashes when click on a link in epiphany

2006-08-03 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Please help! This bugs turns into a very serious one! Serious enough to
disturb my daily work on my Ubuntu box. Now, it's on another machine:
it's an i386 based P4 32 bit system and AMD64, but it's also Ubuntu 6.06
dapper. I'm using this box at my workplace to some web development.
Today I would like to view the source of a web page (epiphany: view -
page source), which result in the same crash I've described above, and
quite large amount of my work lost. I've saved the file I'm talking
about (attached to this comment) into /tmp/index. If I want to open it
with gedit, the same crash occur.

Please note that this bug occured with more applications, and on
different architectures (x86 and x86_64) ... What can I do now?

The only common between the two machines that I'm using dapper-backports
and dapper-updates repositories as well to dist-upgrade. Can this cause
problems?

Thanks. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 55044] Cups print backend not built by default

Public bug reported:

version: 2.10.1-0ubuntu1

Applications using gtk+ printing instead of libgnomeprint (such as

[Bug 55045] DAAP shares not listed

2006-08-03 Thread DoomHammer
Public bug reported:

Rhythmbox cannot list other DAAP shares. I've got mt-daapd running and
Banshee lists it immediately, while RB not. Also, when I have RB,
Banshee and mt-daapd on the avahi-discovery sees 3 shares, Banshee sees
2 other shares and RB sees nothing, although it shares library.

could you try if the deb from
http://people.ubuntu.com/~seb128/debug/41406/ fix you issue? evolution-
data-server and libegroupwise1.2-9 should be enough, you can download
the .deb and installed them with sudo dpkg -i debname.deb, then

[Bug 55057] 2006-04-21: New release 0.95 ready!

2006-08-03 Thread HaroldAling
Public bug reported:

Please update the Dia package, as it's the best diagram editor
available!

-tnx!-

http://www.gnome.org/projects/dia/news.html

2006-04-21: New release 0.95 ready!
Dia is now available in a new version 0.95. This release focuses on stability
and ease of use, featuring a few major new features along with a host of minor
improvements and bugfixes that make it easier than ever to create structured
diagrams, models and illustrations for documentation, articles, modeling,
presentations and many other uses.

Version 0.95 adds the following major features:

* New mainpoint system allows lines to be added by dragging from anywhere
on one object to anywhere on another, and to always point towards the middle of
an object even when that object is moved.
* Python plug-ins added to create DOT output, generate Python bindings by
'self reflection', and allow round-trip engineering plug-ins.
* The grid can now automatically change size depending on your zoom level.
* Text input now highlights the object that receives the input, and tabbing
between text input areas on one or more objects is possible.
* Several security problems fixed in XFig import and Python plug-in.
* Many new shapes added, including automata, Gane Sarson and AADL.
* Several new UML objects added as well as some extensions to existing
objects.
* Full screen mode.
* Improved SVG import,
* Plug-in loading and unloading doesn't require restart of Dia.
* Many i18n problems have been fixed, particularly in export filters.
* Many bugs have been fixed, too many to mention here.
* Command line usage has improved to allow the selecting of individual
layers and specific output filters.
* Uses the new GTK+ File Dialog.
* Experimental libgnomeprint and Cairo plug-ins.

[Bug 32879] Re: rhythmbox regression: doesn't play next song in list

2006-08-03 Thread Tomasz
I talked to gstreamer developer. After seeing error messages from quod
libet (which i noticed yesterday), he said that it is probably something
related to gstreamer-plugins-base, with resampling audio. He told me
that they fixed many bugs in that module for 0.10.9. Installing 0.10.9
from sources fixed the problem, but now I would like to have clean
solution... now my dpkg database is broken due to that i removed
gstreamer packages without removing packages that depend on it. I'll
probably just backport that package to dapper.

[Bug 55066] User switching burns CPU without video accleration

2006-08-03 Thread ORY Mate
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Gnome-sreensaver uses by default gl and non-gl screensavers too. On
older PCs and some notebooks most opengl ones need/use more than 80% of
the CPU's capacity. This may cause problems by default too (high
temperature etc.).

If someone changes user with the fast-user-switch applet or using the
new Ubuntu logout screen, after 10 minutes screensaver may start using
resources. This causes for me a CPU usage of 80% by default (with one
other user).

The simpliest workaround is choosing blank screen as screensaver.

I'm going to have to agree on this one. Maybe gnome-screensaver should
have some intelegence and not to try to use gl screensavers when dri is
disabled and on cards known not to have very good opengl performance.

[Bug 32879] Re: rhythmbox regression: doesn't play next song in list

I got source packages of gstreamer0.10, gst-plugins-base0.10, gst-
plugins-good0.10 and libvisual from edgy, recompiled and installed into
dapper without any difficulty, works for now... and as I'm not going to
hack this once more, this will probably wait until release of edgy.

[Bug 32963] Re: Xv movies on 810/i945 gives horrible color, Gamma

2006-08-03 Thread Iain Murray
I have similar washed out videos under some circumstances with an Intel
Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device using the i810
driver. This is a Dell Inspiron 710m. I'm running 6.06 LTS originally
installed from an official CD with whatever updates apt offered me.

My impression is that it is a totem-xine and gxine bug.

If I watch movies with xine (from the xine-ui package) or mplayer after
an X restart then everything is fine. xvattr information (given later)
is not changed by running xine or mplayer.

Movies under totem (totem-xine) are washed out. The values reported by
xvattr change, but are reset after closing totem. Moves subsequently
play ok in xine or mplayer. Totem can also play movies fine if xvattr
values are fixed after starting totem.

Movies under gxine are washed out, xvattr values are changed (although
not to same values as by totem) and stay changed. Movies in xine or
mplayer are washed out until an X restart or xvattr stuff changed back
by hand. Again gxine plays fine if fix xvattr values by hand while gxine
running.

I get the following xvattr output after X restart: and stays the same after
running xine(-ui) or totem(-xine):
% xvattr
Found Xv 2.2
Adaptor: 0
Name: Intel(R) Video Overlay
 Port: 73
  Name: XV_COLORKEY
   Flags: XvGettable XvSettable
   Min value: 0
   Max value: 16777215
   Current value: 66046
  Name: XV_BRIGHTNESS
   Flags: XvGettable XvSettable
   Min value: -128
   Max value: 127
   Current value: -5
  Name: XV_CONTRAST
   Flags: XvGettable XvSettable
   Min value: 0
   Max value: 255
   Current value: 48

The values are reset after closing totem, but while it is running I get:
% xvattr
Found Xv 2.2
Adaptor: 0
Name: Intel(R) Video Overlay
 Port: 73
  Name: XV_COLORKEY
   Flags: XvGettable XvSettable
   Min value: 0

   Current value: -1
  Name: XV_CONTRAST
   Flags: XvGettable XvSettable
   Min value: 0
   Max value: 255
   Current value: 127

After running (and closing) gxine I get:
% xvattr
Found Xv 2.2
Adaptor: 0
Name: Intel(R) Video Overlay
 Port: 73
  Name: XV_COLORKEY
   Flags: XvGettable XvSettable
   Min value: 0
   Max value: 16777215
   Current value: 66046
  Name: XV_BRIGHTNESS
   Flags: XvGettable XvSettable
   Min value: -128
   Max value: 127
   Current value: 0
  Name: XV_CONTRAST
   Flags: XvGettable XvSettable
   Min value: 0
   Max value: 255
   Current value: 128

I've been fixing color washouts by running:
xvattr -a XV_CONTRAST -v 48 ; xvattr -a XV_BRIGHTNESS -v -5

Why (with the default settings, which I haven't touched) don't
totem/gxine just leave the xvattr settings alone?

[Bug 49005] Re: Mac OS X style .dfont files are not associated with gnome-font-viewer

2006-08-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Marking as confirmed wishlist, it requires to:
- know what caracterize a .dfont (some example could be useful for that)
- create a mimetype for them (require shared-mime-info modification or to ship
a .xml for it)
- add that mimetype to gnome-font-viewer .desktop

If anybody wants to pick the task and send a patch, feel free. The
desktop team gets load of bugs at the moment and has lot to do so I
doubt we will work on that any time soon

[Bug 36077] Re: get notification message AND popup for calendar alarms

2006-08-03 Thread Joe Barnett
The notify bubble is nicer visually (and doesn't steal focus if using
window managers other than metacity like the window does), but because
it goes away without user interaction, I can miss meetings if I'm not at
the computer when the alarm triggers. The window also handles mutliple
alarms going off better (one window with all the alarms in it, vs one
notify bubble for each alarm). If I had to choose from the current
implemenation of each, I'd chose the window, but I think the notify
bubble could be improved to be better than the window.

[Bug 45320] Re: GDM missing half of it's menu, no way to shutdown except with the command line

2006-08-03 Thread Nikos Asimakis
Have you hand-edited your /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom file?

I had and have left one section incomplete and had the exact same
problem. When I deleted that file and did a /etc/init.d/gdm restart
the shutdown and restart buttons reappeared.

You can also just reinstall the gdm package which will overwrite your
gdm.conf-custom file with the default.

[Bug 55082] A podcast feed don't display the content list

2006-08-03 Thread Nicola Jelmorini
Public bug reported:

HI,

currently I use Rhythmbox 0.9.3.1 and I have a problem with one podcast
feed, and no problem with another.

I have added following two podcast feeds:
1) http://www.rtsi.ch/podcast/rss/Impulso_Web.cfm
2) http://ubuntuos.com/podcast/feed.xml

With the first feed I have no problem. Rhythmbox display correctly the list of
episodes.
With the secon feed I have the problem. Rhythmbox don't display the list of
episodes. It's like this feed is empty, but it's not true. I have used another
podder software http://perli.net/projekte/gpodder/;, and in this case both
feeds display correctly the list of episodes.

[Bug 9776] Re: Synchronize Samba share

2006-08-03 Thread Sebastien CELLES
In fact I think the problem of synchronizing Samba share MUST be thinked
with in the mind the problem of mounting Samba share for a non root
user.

A non root user should be able of using the interface to browse Samba
share (using smb:/ links) and to mount it in the sytem (for any user !!!
... so it deals with privilege escalade) and to synchronise. He also
should also be able to unmount it.

Unfortunately I haven't enouth knowledges about programming for this.

But I suggest having a look at Mac OS X about mounting Samba share (it
can also mount iso file using the same way)
