[Bug 35112] Re: MP3 track times are incorrect
I'm seeing this bug with 6.06.1 LTS. Track times are incorrect in Rhythmbox, Serpentine and Cowbell. The first 2 showed exactly the same "way off" duration, but Cowbell was only a little off. Track times for Banshee, VLC, Totem and Nautilus properties seem fine. (The command I used was audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 ! lame name=enc vbr=4 vbr-quality=2 ! xingmux ! id3v2mux) So I'd say it worked but Rhythmbox, Serpentine and Cowbell aren't using the xing headers correctly. -- MP3 track times are incorrect https://launchpad.net/bugs/35112 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

ok so the "generic" totem plugin has an "open in movie player" option, but its not there via the windows media player interface, so that's a discrepancy b/w the different plugins. [Bug 52874] Re: fast user switching with ldap and autofs = bad
Ping? This is actually a serious problem. I really don't like it when a lot of machines try to mount, read and access several thousand home directories whenever their users unlock their screensavers, especially when the network in question is pretty large and distributed. This places unnecessary load on my ldap servers, my file servers and on the desktop machine itself. Sucking all user details using a for loop and getpwent() is BAD. In response to the original comment: Gnome don't enable fast user switching in gnome-screensaver by default, Ubuntu do. Turning off fast user switching involves modifying a gconf schema *before* the user first logs in, otherwise the settings get copied as-is to their gconf settings, making this problem somewhat harder to rectify. In fact some way of disabling fast-user-switching completely regardless of the users config setting would be useful. -- fast user switching with ldap and autofs = bad https://launchpad.net/bugs/52874 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 56760] Gnome-screensaver ignores joypad input
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver gnome-screensaver often comes on when I'm playing a game full screen with the joypad. Freezing also works if I skip to the text file or if I open a folder that only contains a single text file and no mp3s at all. Public bug reported: I'm surprised I couldn't find another bug on this topic, but I didn't; and so I filed this one. I'm sure it's also known about, but I'd like to be sure I know what's going on. When I try to burn a CD, I don't get the option to burn using my CD writer - only to an image. There's not much point burning an image to an image, so I'm guessing this is broken. It mightn't be nautilus though - could be udev or something (but I don't know anything about that). Do correct me if I'm wrong. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- [Edgy] CD burning broken in nautilus https://launchpad.net/bugs/56726 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 44874] Re: auto smbfs mount in /etc/fstab causes hald hang at boot
I don't think this is a bug in smbfs. Since I upgraded to Dapper, my cifs (i.e. not smbfs) mount in /etc/fstab hasn't been working on boot. There weren't any obvious problems, no errors from the kernel, and no hangups*, so I was a bit puzzled but didn't get around to investigating it. The share doesn't get used very often and a simple 'sudo mount /mnt/share' mounted it when I needed it. Today I found this report and tried the workaround suggested, by adding noauto to the fstab entry and putting 'mount /mnt/share' in /etc/rc.local. This fixed the problem. It seems to me there is a general problem with mounting network shares, not just smbfs. I've not tried nfs. * unlike the experiences described here with smbfs - although I'm using Kubuntu and don't have Gnome installed, which may have affected things since some people mentioned problems with Nautilus. -- auto smbfs mount in /etc/fstab causes hald hang at boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/44874 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 56557] Re: Queued songs are shuffled when shutting down and restarting
Just managed to get it to happen again. I had to restart rhythmbox a couple of times. I had given up hope of being able to reproduce it, and started to enter a reply to that effect, opened it up again (so I'd left it for maybe 2-3 mins between closing and restarting) and it's scrambled the list. I had seven songs from one album queued, added some more (24) from a different album to make it more obvious, then stopped/restarted about 3-4 times quickly. I then waited as mentioned above. The order is almost totally random now, except that all songs are still grouped by album. The original album is at the bottom (I don't think this always happens). I'm fairly sure I've only seen this when I am part-way through listening to an album when stopping, and very sure it's only when songs from at least two albums are queued. I haven't clicked any column to sort - I didn't know that worked in the Queued Songs view. Any more questions? IRC discussion for the records: maybe stop creating bugs if the process loop crash the loop is probably easy to determine like >3 crashes in a min creating bugs for that binary I mean sure, I can define an inhibition period, but how long should that be? the problem is right now, as soon as you click on the dialog, the report will be marked as 'read' and overwritten on next crash I would say "if app crashed > 3 times in a min, open a dialog saying crashes from that app are not going to generated from now" I can make it to not be marked as read before you actually OK it (right now that happens) can't you use the log or something to figure how many times it crashed already? seb128: not how many ATM, just the last time seb128: however, I can add a counter to the report and say something like "that app crash in a loop we stop making bugs for it, remove that lock if you want to get crashes again after fixing the issue" ok, so I'll add a counter to the report and if it exceeds 5, I do not create a new one any more pitti: looks good to me I'm only unsure where I offer the user to remove the report (or reset the counter) 5 by some unit of time well, reports are automatically removed after 7 days anyway yeah, but 5 evolution, firefox crashers in a week can happen ok, so maybe 5 on a day? if it crashes more often, most users will be frustrated enough to not file any more bugs :) right 5 a day looks fine to me ok, that should be doable with a counter and the already existing date if the previous report is on the same day, I increment, otherwise I reset it to zero and if it reaches 5, I stop ** Changed in: apport (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => In Progress -- When running xchat-gnome I'm flooded by crash message https://launchpad.net/bugs/56362 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

you better bug upstream directly about such issues because have that relayed by people who don't have the issue don't make thing easier to be worked -- [Dapper] Seek bar sometimes shows erratic behaviour https://launchpad.net/bugs/27939 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 56557] Re: Queued songs are shuffled when shutting down and restarting
Thanks for your bug. That works fine on my dapper installation. Does it happen every time? Is the order changed at every startup? Is it random? Did you click on any column to sort them? [Bug 56615] Re: Impossible to unlock a locked session after some time (dapper)
- Locked from within vino or the desktop (when physically on the machine). - No leep or hibernate in use, just the running server box. - Ah yes, sorry. I move the mouse and press keys, but the password prompt does not appear anymore. The vnc connection is alive though (i.e. Cursor is rendered remotely on the server). As a remark, I also tried to disconnect/reconnect (even with another vnc client), but that does not changed anything. -- Impossible to unlock a locked session after some time (dapper) https://launchpad.net/bugs/56615 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 50621] Re: freezes at end of playlist
Does it happen if you click on the "next" button to reach the end of the playlist or do you need to play everything before? Could you get a backtrace: - run totem - while it's playing run "gdb -p $(pidof totem)" from a command line (gdb) continue ... get it freezing, then look at gdb.
