[Bug 57377] Re: Deskbar's dropdown menu assumes a black-on-white theme

2006-08-23 Thread Mateusz Drożdżyński
Thanks for the bug report.

I'm closing this bug because it has been fixed in Edgy.

It won't be fixed in Dapper since this bug doesn't fit backports
requirements. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports for
more information.

[Bug 57398] Doesn't load external subtitles

2006-08-23 Thread saads
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

The latest version of totem (2.15.92) no longer loads external .srt
subtitle files. The files are standard subtitle files of the format:

I tried specifying the file name on the command prompt but then it does
not even play the video.

[Bug 27109] Re: nautilus uses 100% cpu after closing a ssh session

2006-08-23 Thread saads
Yes I can confirm this in both Dapper and Edgy. Whenever the network
connection between the two hosts is terminated, nautilus on the client
(the one downloading) hits 100% CPU and remains there. It's quite a
serious bug because the only way to bring back down the cpu is to do a
'killall nautilus'.

John, please only mark bugs as duplicates that exactly match the
patterns laid down by DebuggingUbiquity. I need to be spending time on
things other than double-checking the actions of bug triagers, if
possible. If you get creative then that makes things harder. :)

[Bug 57405] Edgy won't mount blank CDs or DVDs

[Bug 57405] Re: Edgy won't mount blank CDs or DVDs

2006-08-23 Thread Simon Law
Hello David,

I am confused. When you write blank CDs or DVDs, do you mean writable
CDs and DVDs that are fresh and have never been written to? If so, then it
would proper for mount to return an error, because there is no filesystem on
these disks. The drive applet will not help you there.

Do you mean that Nautilus is not presenting you with a way to write files to
that
media?

Thanks.

[Bug 57369] References bash-doc in yelp are not hyperlinked

[Bug 57401] Re: Use gnome-vfs mounts for console

2006-08-23 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug. If you want to get those mounted you should
probably mount them from fstab or the command line, that's not the way
nautilus is designed at the moment. You can use gnomevfs-ls, gnomevfs-
cat, gnomevfs-copy etc from the command line. I'm closing the feature
request since that would require changing the nautilus design and is
something for upstream, not for a distribution

2006-08-23 Thread Andreas Lloyd
Ubuntu QA guy Simon Law puts it like this:

Thank you for your report.

This behaviour has always been the case and is a design feature of X11.

You are describing SELECTION and PRIMARY buffers. They were separate and
have semantics that are both supported by major X applications. It is
unlikely that this will change in the near future, even though more and
more applications prefer exposing the PRIMARY buffer in their menu
systems.

[Bug 57419] gnome-mixer-applet shows wrong volume slider controls for my ice1712 based soundcard

2006-08-23 Thread Dominique Würtz
Public bug reported:

I own a Terratec EWX2496 soundcard which uses the ice1712 ALSA driver. There
used to be DAC and DAC2 volume sliders (stereo output) as well as two sliders
for ADC and ADC2 (stereo input).
However, since I think the Dapper release, following slider appear:
ADC, ADC 3, 2x DAC, 2x DAC3

The DAC/DAC3 sliders are duplicated, i.e. moving one DAC fader moves
the other one.

BTW, I'm currently using edgy, where the problem is still there.

[Bug 57423] this jpg gives a page of black on any of the standard gnome viewers

2006-08-23 Thread Dirk
Public bug reported:

Subject says it all really. If you look at this image with the gnome
image viewer or nautilus and I try to print it, it comes out as a full
page of black (with a nice white border around the outside).

Using the gimp or one of the KDE image viewer programs and it works just
fine.

I am running dapper with all the latest updates (as of about 5 minutes
ago)

[Bug 57419] Re: gnome-mixer-applet shows wrong volume slider controls for my ice1712 based soundcard

2006-08-23 Thread Simon Law
gnome-volume-control listens to what ALSA tells it can be twiddled.

Obviously, the ALSA driver has gotten more variables which you can
set. If you find them unsightly, you can remove them using the
Edit Properties menu.

[Bug 57415] Re: Inconsistent cut-and-paste behaviour

2006-08-23 Thread James Baum
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 11334 ***

This is a major usability bug which makes this feature of Ubuntu/linux
desktop usage inferior to alternatives. If bug#1 is to be fixed this
should also be fixed.

Maybe this is a good thing in the X server. Despite that the window
manager should implement a decent workaround.

[Bug 54127] Re: Certain windows steal focus

2006-08-23 Thread Andreas Lloyd
This is known upstream with Gaim. Have no idea with regards to Wine and
the wine-systemtray.

At the moment, Metacity deals with this as best as it can, but is
limited by the way that the individual applications demand attention.

Feel free to give a more detailed bug report upstream:

[Bug 53413] Re: MP3 Player undetected: Integrated Circuit Solution, Inc

2006-08-23 Thread Pascal de Bruijn
Well, my previous MP3 player was detected as a Media Player and the icon
would change to a Media Player icon, instead of a Mass Storage icon.

This is quite useful, if I have both my MP3 Player and another mass
storage device attached, it helps me immediately distinguish them from
each other.
