[Bug 60006] Totem, although libdvdcss is installed, says DVD is encrypted

2006-09-11 Thread H.E. Pennypacker
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I have libdvdcss installed, and have been able to watch a DVD for over
an hour, when an error saying "The source seems encrypted, and can't be
read. Are you trying to play an encrypted DVD without libdvdcss?"

Why would it ask this question? It happened with only one or two DVDs I
was watching, and the error came up at the same time each time it
occured during the movie.

This must be a bug, because like I said, I already have libdvdcss
installed.

[Bug 56444] Re: Easy double-sided printing

2006-09-11 Thread Ante Karamatić
It would be nice option, but I don't see how we could have one set of
images for all users. This pictures from HP are OK for that type of HP
printer, but not even for all HP printers. Adding pictures will only
confuse users who's printer doesn't look like that and who's printer
feeds papers in some other way (face down, or rotated for 90*, etc...).

Printing only odd and only even pages is implemented in Edgy (Page Setup
-> Only print:).

My vote goes for rejecting this bug.

I've put a .deb at

This is an update to the 6.5.7.3 driver in dapper.

I've just fallen back to sw rendering for the repeat case for the stable
branch, the Xorg 7.1/7.2 driver will probably be fixed properly but this
is the safest option for now.

[Bug 45308] Re: [Dapper] Regression: improper icon label for usb storage devices

2006-09-11 Thread Trouilliez vincent
UPDATE:

Ah, I think I found something :
I started Windows XP (that's what I used to set the volume label to "Camera
64MB", initially), and noticed that it TOO, didn't show the volume name !
So I (re)created it, then miracle, Ubuntu can now display it !
I am not sure how it disappeared though ! Maybe it got erased when I formatted
the card from within the digital camera ? I will avoid doing that in the
future, then !

HOWEVER, the problem is still there !
Yes, instead of calling the memory card "GENERIC STORAGE DEVICE", it now calls
it: "GENERIC STORAGE DEVICE: CAMERA 64MB" !
However as you can see from the attached screenshot, this is only true for the
"computer" location, and the the label does show properly in the "Places"
location, be it when viewed from the gnome panel, or from the Nautilus side bar.
The screenshot alsoi shows a new bug: in the computer location Nautilus shows
TWO icons for the same memory card ! :-/ I guess I will have to file a new bug
report for that problem :-(

I attached a new "lshal" file. The interesting bit/section starts around
line 810. Just search for the word "camera" and you will find it easily.

But if I press the power button again, while that dialog is already open, and

This should be fixed in Gaim SVN. I rewrote a bunch of oscar file
transfer and direct IM stuff a little while ago, but it's not in a
released version yet. The fix should be in beta 4.

[Bug 59959] Re: [Bug 59959] Re: Fullscreen controls don't autohide

2006-09-11 Thread saads
Seems like it is similar to bug 54654 - although he is running a dual
monitor setup with twinview so I can't be certain. However from the way he
has described it is likely that it is the same bug. If it is, then go ahead
and mark this as a duplicate but perhaps add a note to his bug stating that
it does not only occur when using twinview, but for normal single-monitor
setups as well.

[Bug 59934] Re: since updating to edgy, HP Deskjet 600 is not detected at all

2006-09-11 Thread Till Kamppeter
Can you add the printer with the web interface of CUPS?

Go to http://localhost:631/ and click on "Administration". If your
printer or at least the first parallel port is shown, click on the
appropriate "Add this printer" button and choose the model on the next
screens. When asked for user name and password, enter your user name and
your password.

If your printer/the parallel port does not appear, click "Add Printer"
at the top of the page and fill in the fields on the following screens.
In the "Device" step choose "LPT #1", in the following steps chose your
printer model. Does this work?

[Bug 59959] Fullscreen controls don't autohide

2006-09-11 Thread saads
Public bug reported:

This happens with totem-xine and not with totem-gstreamer:

Steps:

1) Open up a move in totem
2) Press 'f' on the keyboard or go to view -> fullscreen
3) Move the mouse when in fullscreen mode to make sure that the on-screen
controls appear
4) Wait a few seconds without moving the mouse - the mouse cursor will
disappear but the on-screen controls will remain visible.

[Bug 56444] Re: Easy double-sided printing

2006-09-11 Thread Till Kamppeter
This is an interesting feature request, but it cannot be assigned to one
package. It needs to be implemented in the printing dialog. So currently
you would have to suggest this separately to the KDE/Qt, GNOME/GTK, and
some application folks (OpenOffice.org, Scribus, ...), but not to the
package maintainers of this or any other Linux distribution. You should
suggest this to the upstream developers. In the future it is planned to
offer common printing dialogs linked to the applications vis tthe
Portland interface (http://portland.freedesktop.org/), so you should
probably also make your suggestion there.

[Bug 59934] Re: since updating to edgy, HP Deskjet 600 is not detected at all

2006-09-11 Thread Till Kamppeter
This looks like a kernel-level problem for me. All kernel modules for
the parallel port are loaded (parport, parport_pc, and lp), but the
printer's ID is not appearing in any of the
/proc/sys/dev/parport/parport*/autoprobe* files.

As you had this printer already working on your machine, I assume that
the BIOS settings for your parallel port are correct for bi-directional
access.
