[Bug 30791] Re: firefox 1.4.99 upgrade still have compreg.dat, creates issue

2006-10-12 Thread Ian Jackson
As discussed on IRC with seb128:

I will change the firefox postinst to delete
/usr/lib/firefox/components/compreg.dat (grumbling to stderr if it finds
it).

I don't think this will solve the problem - the file is being created by
some other package's maintainer scripts, and that other package is
probably a mozilla embedder, so it's quite likely that compreg.dat is
created after firefox is upgraded.

However, it may help in some cases and it will definitely make it easier
to fix the problem when you don't know what it is - just reinstalling
firefox will fix it.

We will take a more serious approach to finding this problem in edgy+1,
since it is evidently not just an issue with breezy/dapper.

[Bug 65643] [Edgy] "GNOME Control Center" entry appears twice when you enable it.

Steps to reproduce:

[Bug 19524] Re: Firefox does not pay attention to GNOME DPI setting

2006-10-12 Thread Nico Laum
I noticed that firefox ignores the dpi settings, because I changed it (98) and
looked at the screen :)... I have a high resolution laptop lcd
I tried very high dpi settings (~160) and firefox website fonts were as tiny as
before (also after restarting firefox)

Furthermore I tried layout.css.dpi at 0, that didn't do anything for me
so I gave it a high value around 130 and after restarting firefox at
least one website had big fonts but most of my bookmarks didn't.

[Bug 65654] [Edgy] Please revert it to the previous Edgy artwork!

The new gdm theme reverts to the Dapper artwork. I think its a bad
decision, IMHO.

I agree with the user who recently posted about this issue:

[Bug 65656] zenity does not display libnotify message bubble

Public bug reported:

[Bug 48118] Re: allow mounting hard disk partitions with a gksudo mount wrapper

2006-10-12 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
If we will solve this bug in correct way, then bug #16356 (LiveCD does
not mount hard disk partitions) will be solved too :)

Now we are missing 2 things:
1. gksudo mount wrapper GUI, maybe gnome-mount package will fit here.
2. unmounted hard disk partitions are not visible in Nautilus Computer:/
location

To fix second thing we must improve debian/patches/02_ignored_volumes.patch in
hal package - "volume.ignore" key should be set to true only when
"volume.is_mounted" is true. I'm attaching improved 02_ignored_volumes.patch
(from hal 0.5.7.1-0ubuntu15) to this bug - this was only one-line fix :)
Btw, when using file
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/20-storage-methods.fdi from upsteam then
Nautilus shows unmounted hard disk partitions in Computer:/ location.

[Bug 19524] Re: Firefox does not pay attention to GNOME DPI setting

2006-10-12 Thread Xavier
layout.css.dpi=-1 -> 96 dpi minimum
So you didn't need to change that.
But the dpi setting only affects the fonts sized in points, not the ones in
pixel. That must be the difference between the websites you are using, and
there is nothing you can do about that.
(that's also the reason why some ppl always recommend 96 dpi for web browsing)

[Bug 65681] rhythmbox: fails to burn audio CD

2006-10-12 Thread Carthik Sharma
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Originally reported using reportbug. Filing by proxy.

Original report follows:

From: Dan Drake <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
To: Ubuntu Bug Tracking System <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject: rhythmbox: fails to burn audio CD
Date: Sun, 17 Sep 2006 23:51:17 -0500
X-Mailer: reportbug 3.18ubuntu1

Package: rhythmbox
Version: 0.9.3.1-0ubuntu9
Severity: normal

I tried to burn an audio CD from rhythmbox, but it failed with some sort
of growisofs problem.

I made a playlist from an album in my library, selected the playlist,
and clicked "Create Audio CD". I started rhythmbox from a terminal, so I
see the error message

  (rhythmbox:5925): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: IA__g_object_set_valist:
object class `GstCapsFilter' has no property named `filter-caps'

One message appears for every song on the album. The last error message
printed is

** (rhythmbox:5925): WARNING **: Can only use growisofs on a single
track

Rhythmbox then pops up a dialog box that says there was an error writing
to the CD.

[Bug 31286] Re: Displays repeated keyring dialogs on resume from suspend and login

2006-10-12 Thread hackel
Guys, this is NOT a message board. If you have any NEW, relevent
information to provide, such as a backtrace or other debugging out put,
then by all means post it, but please do not use this bug report to have
a conversation about it, or simply repeate all the problems you're
having over and over. Each email you send goes out to everyone watching
this bug, and it really gets annoying.

>From what I understood several months ago, the NetworkManager team is
aware of this issue and is working on a fix upstream. They are working
on an authentication scheme that doesn't use gnome-keyring. At this
point, there is nothing we can do, so please just be patient. We all
know that the problem exists. I resorted to configuring my wireless
manually for now, using /etc/network/interfaces and it works
beautifully.

Thanks, I'm sure we would all appreciate it. And thanks to the
NetworkManager developers and packagers for getting things straightened
out!

[Bug 65489] Re: gnome-terminal locks up occasionally

2006-10-12 Thread robT
i'm not using scim, or any non-english languages, so i can't comment on
that-

i was not able to reproduce the lockups with the last use case.

I have witnessed the freezes before, it's usually when the terminal is
maximized, and after it's been open for a while. It generally manifests
it's self when i go to select some text in the terminal.

[Bug 3642] Re: hibernate doesn't work from gdm itself

2006-10-12 Thread Andrew Jorgensen
I'm not sure I understand why the longevity of the bug should influence
it's priority. I'd like to understand. Would you mind explaining? Bug
#1 has been true since way before gdm even existed and it's marked
"Critical." :)

Also, if you're saying that it's not going to get fixed then you should
at least remove the option from gdm's menus. Advertising features that
don't work makes software look bad.
