[Bug 71603] ubuntu-desktop should NOT depend on totem-mozilla
Public bug reported: Simply put, as of right now, mplayer-plugin is a superior application; for instance, sound works when playing quicktime files, etc. As such, I'd much prefer to use it instead. However, as far as I know (and, I could be wrong) there is no way to decide which MIME type a given plugin will handle exclusively in Firefox 2.0. This means that, short of writing an extension or renaming the plugin filename, I'm stuck with totem-mozilla as to uninstall it I would also have to uninstall the ubuntu-desktop metapackage. The way it should be handled: make it so that nothing depends on it. Seriously, it's a multimedia handler for Firefox. Or have it conflict with mozilla-mplayer so that it gets uninstalled when you install the other. This is... suboptimal. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- ubuntu-desktop should NOT depend on totem-mozilla https://launchpad.net/bugs/71603 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 23660] Re: [network-admin] 'Enable this connection' option in network settings is redundant
Furthermore the main interface (eth0 on my computer) can't be deconfigured by removing the tick in "Enable this connection". Trying to do this results in the following lines being added to /etc/network/interfaces: iface eth0 inet dhcp auto eth0 After restarting network-admin the interface eth0 is activated and configured as dhcp. Since this result is unexpected this proves that the "Enable this connection" checkbox is a bad idea. -- [network-admin] 'Enable this connection' option in network settings is redundant https://launchpad.net/bugs/23660 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 71486] Changing focus after entering a bad date prevents further focus changes
Public bug reported: Description of the problem: While editing a contact, I entered a bad date and clicked on another field. An error dialog appeared and after dismissing it I was unable to focus any other text field or click on the OK/Cancel buttons. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start evolution . 2. Press Ctrl-Shift-C to create a new contact. 3. Click on the Personal Information tab. 4. Click on the Birthday field and remove None and replace it with 1/1/2006 5. Click on the Notes: field. Expected result: Date to be accepted? Actual result: An unnamed error window will appear which says "Invalid Date Value". After clicking OK you will be unable to focus any field in the original contact editor and the OK/Cancel buttons will stop working. If you are really (un)lucky then bug buddy window will appear reporting that evolution has crashed. [Bug 23660] Re: [network-admin] 'Enable this connection' option in network settings is redundant
In gnome-system-tools 2.15.5-0ubuntu2 on Edgy the "Activate" and "Deactivate" buttons have been removed from network-admin. You have a checkbox next to the interface and the "Enable this connection" in the interface settings dialog. This make it very confusing to deactivate or activate an interface, one would expect that the interface is deactivated when removing the "Enable this connection" tick in the settings dialog. Instead this results in the interface being deconfigured (configuration information removed from /etc/network/interfaces). I liked the "Activate" and "Deactivate" buttons, please get them back and use additional symbols on icons for activated and deactivated connections. I agree with Wouter that the configured checkbox ("Enable this connection") isn't necessary and that settings should always be kept for a connection. The concept that configuration information can be removed from a configuration file by removing a tick from a checkbox is difficult to understand for most people. In Edgy the "Enable this connection" should at least be renamed to a better description like "Configure this connection". ** Attachment added: "Screenshot of network-admin in Edgy" http://librarian.launchpad.net/5056826/NetworkSettings.png ** Changed in: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed -- [network-admin] 'Enable this connection' option in network settings is redundant https://launchpad.net/bugs/23660 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, "Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync"
I know this is not the solution but it is a work around that works! Please make sure you back up the relevan data file for the problem folder first, just in case. Often when the mismatch message occurs evolution cannot generate a .ev- summary file, especially with large (500+ Meg) files. To overcome the problem for folder FOO Make a new folder FOO1 go to FOO and select all emails Move all mails from FOO to FOO1 select FOO1 (the mismatch error will come up again as you leave FOO) Check all the mails are there. Quit and restart evolution to check the data is there, select FOO1. Then select another folder to make sure the error does not occur on this new file. Delete FOO (you need to expunge it first) Rename FOO1 to FOO Everything should now work. Finally, for good housekeeping check the ~/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox.sbd/... directory to see that the new files are all listed as FOO. This does not always happen (some will retain the FOO1 element) and it will not cause a problem but will be confusing if you regularly check the evolution directory and file structure so; Instead of renaming FOO1 to FOO Stop then restart evolution Make a new folder FOO Move the files from FOO1 to FOO Stop start and check once more Delete FOO1 Hope this of use to beleaguered evo users -- evolution bug, "Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync" https://launchpad.net/bugs/27014 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
