[Bug 78041] rhythmbox crashes when enabling&disabling last.fm plugin

2007-01-04 Thread mlind
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Architecture: i386
Version: 0.9.7-0ubuntu2

enabling and disabling Last.fm plugin on "Configure plugins" dialog few
times leads to a crash. I'll submit a full backtrace once -dbg package
is available (#78040) or I get a chance to rebuild the package.

[Bug 78038] Re: rhythmbox interferes with suspend

2007-01-04 Thread Cody A.W. Somerville
Thanks for your report. Your idea might get more attention and have the
possibility of being implemented if you would submit a specification for
this.

You should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu specs page
(https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+specs) in Launchpad. If that is the
case, feel free to contact the drafter of that spec about your
comments/suggestions. Otherwise you can start writing a spec following the
steps described in
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureSpecifications.

[Bug 77466] Re: Evolution hang when click Send/Receive button

2007-01-04 Thread Sean Middleditch
This happens for me, as well. It is not just SMTP that hangs. It also
happens for me if I configure Evolution to use sendmail to mail. Also,
it does not always happen. The first few times that Evolution does a
send/receive, it usually works fine. After a few times, though, it will
do the Hang on Waiting. No email can actually be sent anymore. I can
close the email window, and I can use Evolution just fine, including
receiving and reading mail. Only sending fails to work. Plus, I can no
longer close Evolution, it will hang when I try to do so and I have to
kill it.

This has been going on for the last month or so. I figured it was a
temporary bug, but apparently it's something more serious.

[Bug 44764] Re: Conflicting Keyboard Shortcuts with Inkscape

2007-01-04 Thread bryce
Btw, a superior fix would be to have a higher level function that
Inkscape could call to temporarily override a given keyboard shortcut.
I proposed this for the Portland Project, which is now on their medium
term todo list (See Accelerators):

[Bug 44764] Re: Conflicting Keyboard Shortcuts with Inkscape

2007-01-04 Thread bryce
Confirmed as still a problem with upstream.

In testing it, I notice that Alt-Ctrl-Click generally provides the same
functionality as Alt-Click, but doesn't interfere with KDE's shortcuts.
There are a couple exceptions such as when selecting within groups, but
the difference in behavior is probably negligible for most people.

Thus, since these two shortcuts seem to be identical for the most part,
you could simply alter the documentation to refer to Alt-Ctrl-Click in
preference over Alt-Click. Attached is a patch to doc/keys.xml which
does this. To (manually) generate the SVG file, simply do:

  xsltproc keys-svg.xsl keys.xml > keys.svg

I've also proposed to the other inkscape developers that we switch to
this approach in general. However I don't know if this change will be
accepted for the upcoming 0.45 release.

[Bug 16724] Re: gnome print dialog doesn't open, it just prints directly (if inkscape is build --with-gnome-print)

2007-01-04 Thread bryce
The --with-gnome-print option is known to be broken (afaik it's never
worked properly in Inkscape). The issue had been tracked to problems in
gtk itself.

However, gtk-2.10 includes a new print dialog that the gtk developers
say will work much better. I haven't tested this yet and don't know of
anyone who has tried hooking it up. So that would be the next step.

We are upgrading the dependency version for Inkscape 0.45 from gtk-2.4
to gtk-2.8. Going to 2.10 is a large jump for inkscape since some
platforms don't yet have it, but we don't know of any issues that would
prevent use of 2.10 on a distro-specific basis.

Once Inkscape moves to gtk-2.10, implementing that print dialog will be
a top priority. I estimate this will occur as part of the 0.46 release,
probably some time in mid- to late-2006.

[Bug 77224] apport-gtk crashes upon changing icon themes

2007-01-04 Thread Steve_B
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

Changing the system icon theme in Gnome (Edgy on x86_64) causes a crash
when selecting certain icon themes (but not others). Obviously, those
themes have some problem with their installation, but Gnome's theme
selector should simply REPORT an improperly-installed icon theme rather
than just switching to it and then crashing. (Removal of the
inappropriate theme via another window-manager allows Gnome to start
correctly using the fallback icon theme).

I managed it, the only change to the gtk+2.0 is a single patch, so it

[Bug 70690] Re: webdavs opens firefox in nautilus

2007-01-04 Thread crun
This problem happened to me when I set up an webdavs share used an
incorrect configuration on my server. Using this (incorrect) share,
Firefox whould open the "davs://" URI. When I'd fixed the error however,
nautilus opened the share like it should.

I suppose it could be that the server sends an error back over http,
which causes nautilus to pass the error-page to Firefox.

If it helps, the error in my Apache2 config file was in the Alias
directive:

...
Alias /shared "/var/www_dav_shared/"

...

Here the points to the wrong location. In my browser the
error was ignored, but Nautilus probably detected it.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Hi,

Along similar lines to 48450 and 47005 - when I lock my session, it is
possible for another users to then switch to their account, and upon
logging in X appears to crash, restart, and then the default login
screen reappears however with a nautilus window open showing the home
directory of the previously (original) logged in user, with the ability
to navigate freely within it..

I have reproduced this many times myself i.e. it was not a freak
occurrence. Sometimes it coincides with Mozilla crashing out and asking
to start or restore, and my system was an upgrade from Dapper not a
fresh install.

Hope someone can plug this!!!

[Bug 59991] Re: crashed while using gwget

2007-01-04 Thread DasJott
It seems only to happen when Gwget already shows a tooltip and wants to show an
other one.
On Gwget startup, it brings up a tooltip with the text "Gwget". If you leave
that one open and a download finishes, Gwget wants to show that in another
tooltip - crash.

I presume it is also a bug in Gwget, although of course the panel
shouldn't crash when an other app is buggy...

Just my notice.

[Bug 45633] Re: Evolution eats up all system memory when recursing into imap directory tree.

2007-01-04 Thread Christian Reis
I don't think so. Evolution is doing something very bad (perhaps
recursing into the directories madly) -- mutt doesn't lock up or die
when accessing that server, so Evo shouldn't either.

It's not really a configuration bug with imapd -- it's more that you can
work around this by using an imapd configuration option.

[Bug 36485] Re: gtk.Window.present()

2007-01-04 Thread Thomas Thurman
Elijah explains in the upstream bug that this behaviour is according to
design. When raise_on_click is not set, the *only* thing which can raise
a window is a pager. gajim is not a pager, therefore it cannot raise
windows (not even its own). The solution is for gajim to register as a
pager.

Hi,

OK, one more comment: gnome-power-manager and the Battery Charge Monitor
seem to give quite different time estimates...

This is kinda weird, because I expected the info to come from /proc - it
obviously doesn't!
(Well, I assume how much battery there is comes from /proc, but the applets are
to work out how much time is remaining).

In general, the Battery Charge Monitor seems to get a much mor ereliable
estimate in a much shorter time.

[Bug 77949] I want Evolution to removed deleted mails fom server

2007-01-04 Thread Mathias
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Dear Sirs,

I've just made the migration from XP to Linux/Ubuntu and I am
definitively staying here! Much more fun to work with, very smooth
operation and I'm incredibly impressed with the community!

Anyway, as the summary implies, the feature of outlook which removes
messages from the server when they are removed from the trashcan is
dearly missed. Now I have to delete mail three times... first the inbox,
then the trashcan and then log in to my webmail and delet it there.
Since I need to check older mail by webmail frequently, I'd really wish
that you could adopt that feature.

Will it be added?

Also, Outlooks feature of adding date dividers in the mail list is very
nice for mail administration. Is there any chance of that beeing added
in the future?

Best regards!

2007-01-04 Thread Josh Burdick
I have this problem too, on an MSI 270, Sempron, i386. I've certainly
had the problem in Dapper, possibly before, now in Edgy. I didn't
report it, because I figured my report would surely be a duplicate...

Blacklisting "psmouse" doesn't help; furthermore IIRC the pointer is
consistent about moving after suspend. So I don't think it's a driver
issue. Also keyboard works, I can switch VTs, etc. Furthermore, in
Edgy at least, it's sometime inconsistent; once today for instance I
could switch tabs in Firefox, but nothing else. That suggests it's not
X.

Does the time get reset every time you resume? My guess, talking
through my hat, is that GNOME discards events with late-enough time
stamps (as it probably should; if the system were so busy that it's
getting ten-second-old mouseclicks, probably best to discard them.)

But if the clock gets updated by ntpdate or hwclock, there might be a
significant timeslip that's bolloxing things up. Just guessing.

Indeed, I'll try commenting out the business end of
/etc/acpi/resume.d/50-time.sh , (that is, the hwclock call), and see if
that helps.

(I am of course amazed that suspend-to-RAM works as well as it does; the
fact that it does is probably why this sort of thing is actually evident
:)

[Bug 49498] Re: With Evince I can't copy text out from PDF documents created with cups-pdf

2007-01-04 Thread Ryan Bair
I have a Gentoo system running Gnome 2.16. PDFs generated from my Edgy
machine do not work in Evince on either machine. However if I make the
PDF on my Gentoo machine the PDF works on both machines.

I think we're looking at a cups-pdf or cups bug, not an evince bug. I'm
currently using 2.4.2 on my Gentoo machine (same as edgy) but only
version 1.1.23 of cups (1.2 has been nothing but trouble on multiple
machines for me).

[Bug 77944] nautilus shows folder twice

2007-01-04 Thread Roel Huybrechts
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Well, if I browse to my folder /home/roel/Music_organised/Keane it should show
the following contents:
* a folder named "Hopes and fears (2004)"
* a folder named "Under the iron sea (2006)"

but it shows:
* a folder named "Hopes and fears (2004)"
* a folder named "Under the iron sea (2006)"
* another folder named "Under the iron sea (2006)"

As you can see, it shows the last folder twice (screenshot attached)... It
surely is only one time there because when I move one of them to the trash,
they both are gone.
The problem occurs only with this particular folder.

When I press the Reload button, one folder disappears, so the problem
seems resolved. But when I browse to the folder again from /home/roel
the same problem occurs...

I'm using Ubuntu Dapper with nautilus version 2.14.3

Presumably it's a custom configuration that wasn't an issue in Dapper,
but is in Edgy.
