[Bug 79028] "write dvd" fails w/: "File image creation failed Unknown Error"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus-cd-burner If you have a file (anywhere in the target burning files) named with the single character: \ then nautilus will fail with the following message: File image creation failed Unknown error I would assume this is due to an underlying program, but not being familiar with the process I can't confirm which program is actually causing the bug. However, "Unknown error" is a very frustrating message, especially as there is no recommendation to the user as to how to fix the problem. So I'd like this report to stay open on nautilus-cd-burner, although perhaps as a low priority. Unknown errors could prompt the user to report a bug and gather the list of files/filesizes that they were going to burn. ** Affects: nautilus-cd-burner (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- "write dvd" fails w/: "File image creation failed Unknown Error" https://launchpad.net/bugs/79028 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 78985] Make totem-xine the default for totem
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem Hi, I feel that totem-xine is better for video playback than totem- gstreamer. I recently tried to playback a Video DVD. I installed every required package and I was able to playback the movie but I could neither select my audio language (just stopped to play any sound) nor got any menus. After pausing and resuming playback was very slow and I had to completely stop and play it from the beginning... Also totem-gstreamer doesn't work very goot with w32codecs (I know it is not included in the distribution...). After I had installed totem-xine all worked perfecty (DVDs with menus and language selection, w32codecs and so on). So why don't you just make totem-xine the default and save us users a lot of time which we lose by 1. figuring out what is wrong with the video player and 2. to find out that we can use another engine for video playback. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Make totem-xine the default for totem https://launchpad.net/bugs/78985 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 77033] Re: Remove "Online Documentation" from System/Help menu
It still seems useful to me to have a link to documentation online, in that menu. System documentation will always be more limited than what's possible online, surely? If only because of space? For example, if we have videos showing how to do certain things, those are not going to fit on the CD but would fit online. It may well be true that the doc team doesn't have any material online which supersedes that on-disk, but that's a different issue! -- Remove "Online Documentation" from System/Help menu https://launchpad.net/bugs/77033 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 78971] network-admin segfaults in on_essid_list_changed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools I have a prism2_usb device and have installed linux-wlan-ng. If I select the wlan device in network-admin and click "Properties" it crashes. This was on a clean herd-2. I upgraded to gnome-system- tools_2.17.5-0ubuntu1_i386.deb and saw the same crash. Then I downgraded to gnome-system-tools_2.17.3-0ubuntu3_i386.deb which had a -dbgsym package. [Bug 72228] Re: All UI text missing
I installed the gnome-desktop package *after* upgrading from kubuntu dapper tu kubuntu edgy. I don't see this problem under Gnome. [Bug 72228] Re: All UI text missing
It sounds, to me, like this is a problem with GTK 1.x-based applications; Audacity, Ardour, XMMS, and NeroLinux all use the old 1.x series of GTK, to the best of my knowledge. Let's re-assign it to the gtk+1.2 package to see if we can find someone with some insight into the problem. ** Changed in: audacity (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: audacity => gtk+1.2 -- All UI text missing https://launchpad.net/bugs/72228 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 63523] Re: EDGY Menu management: hard to move items up and down
Hi I'm really amazed you cannot reproduce it. It happens on 2 very different PCs of mine (the others are on Dapper): 1- an old one: Duron 1.2 Ghz / 512 M 2- on my last year laptop: Toshiba Pentium Centrino M40 1.7 Ghz / 1024 M When I go to: system/preference/"agencement menu" I click on games for instance, then on Mines 1st click on up: fine 2nd click on up: nothing happens, but on down it moves down for once only Then to move up or down, I need to click on Mines again and redo up or down for one shot ONLY. If this happens on 2 different PCs of mine, (with the latest Edgy update and distribution upgrade!!) this should be the same w/ yours, the only difference between us is that I turned everything into French, so what? -- EDGY Menu management: hard to move items up and down https://launchpad.net/bugs/63523 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 78720] Re: "Copy Disc" burns audio disc as data dics
I tried both. First i tried duplicating it with "right click" -> "copy disc" (which resulted in a unplayable cd). And after that for testing purpose i created an image by right clicking on the Audio CD Icon -> "copy disc" and than selecting "copy disc to: file image" (resulting in an invalid image with the error mentioned above). I'm using Ubuntu Edgy on an amd64. [Bug 64516] Re: Keyboard Properties launch bug
Hi all, I updated Dapper to Edgy and now have some problems as johnaman described above: - All of my icons in the menus are missing - the keyboard keys repeat does'nt work. It's very frustrating during editing to me too. - I tried to use System>Preferences>Keyboard when I got the Failed Unexpectedly / Report Bug dialog too. - in the terminal window, if I push shift+pgup to read something up I need to push shift+pgdown to return the command line; I had only to push the return key before. If I try to push return I create another carriage return only but I stay up again. - if I open any application I do not see it down in the lowpanel; if I minimize that application it disappears and I have to restart it again. I tried to reinstall ubuntu-desktop and made dpkg-reconfigure without results. When I minimize I see very well the iconifying animation of the window toward the panel (the windows-list) but than it disappears and I can't maximize more. Sorry for my english. I include the auto-generated file.
