[Bug 78839] Re: Printing to file with GTK+ dialogue (ie in Evince) not contain PDF-option and other features

2007-01-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Looks like there is different problems described there. On my feisty
desktop printing to a PDF works fine. If you select a printer you can
print using "multiple pages per sheet", it looks like that the option is
not available when printing to a file only and gtk-demo does the same
which means the behaviour is due to GTK and not evince.

Marking the bug fixed since the feisty version prints to PDF without any
problem, the GTK printing options when printing to a file is not an
evince problem and you should open an another bug about that if you want

You wrote "I think, KDE/Qt has much better print dialogue because of
complete feature set", that comment is not true and not useful. The GTK
dialog has all sort of options too if you select a printer, they are
just not enabled when printing to a file

[Bug 79078] Receive hangs regularly

2007-01-13 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Quite regularly (at least several times per day), evolution is not able
to succeed in receiving mail from one or several accounts (either local,
pop or imap). It's then not possible to cancel the receiving operation.
The only way to close the send/receive dialog is to use the window close
button. From this instant, every attempt to send/receive will also fail
to succeed on the same accounts that failed the first time, and it will
not possible to quit evolution (it hangs after folder synchronization).

[Bug 78905] Re: duplicate icq/aim buddies

2007-01-13 Thread BHowell
Ok I did some digging and I think I have figured out the source of this
behavior. I have both ICQ and AIM accounts. In my setup both accounts
use the OSCAR protocol. OSCAR has now been unified and you can see AIM
users on your ICQ buddy list and vice-versa.

The problem appears to be that somehow GAIM creates two entries for each
OSCAR associated buddy and associates one entry with my ICQ account and
one with my AIM account. I can see this in the .gaim/blist.xml file.

I guess this may be an upstream bug.

I can email a copy of my blist.xml file but I don't want to post it
publicly.

[Bug 79130] hal does not recognize Sony Ericsson W810 as MP3 player

2007-01-13 Thread Martey Dodoo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

While both the internal memory and memory stick in my Sony Ericsson
W810i mount automatically as external hard drives, they are not
recognized by hal as a MP3 player. I was able to find two modified FDIs
(see below), but I am not sure whether their quality is high enough for
them to become the basis for a patch.

2007-01-13 Thread Andrew Ash
>From a look through the forums, it looks like whenever gdm starts up, X
crashes and the user is back to the GUI login window. A reinstall fixed
the problem, so an update to gnome-screensaver is suspect.

One user seems to have connected the bug to running 3d screensavers.
Can anybody duplicate this without a 3d screensaver?

It also looks like there are a lot of NVIDIA cards in that thread. Can
anybody replicate this bug without an NVIDIA card?

Also, please provide the version of gnome-screensaver you're using, by
posting the output of `apt-cache policy gnome-screensaver`

[Bug 79164] More user-friendly menu entry

2007-01-13 Thread Matthew East
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

The new gnome-control-center I find in the System menu is seriously
awesome, it makes it much more obvious how to change settings of the
computer. But I think the menu entry could be improved. As per HIG, you
don't need to know the name of the program you're running (e.g. Movie
Player, Archive Manager etc) - in this case the menu entry "GNOME
Control Center" might confuse users more than (for example) "Settings"
or "Control Center" might do.

[Bug 79160] Re: Ubuntu Dapper screen saver crashes X server

2007-01-13 Thread Matt England
Check out this latest forum post:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2009622&postcount=11

This doesn't seem to narrow a root cause, though; I'd like to know more
than just "reload the driver."

Here's my speculation:

I suspect that newer 3D imaging software/drivers have issues with an
nvidia driver/hardware. I doubt it's a gnome-screensaver-specific
thing.

When I updated my Dapper install with _all_ the newest software,
problems arose. When I reloaded a fresh Dapper (6.06.1) install, things
worked again.

I have a 7600 GTS.

I realize I didn't answer all your Qs/requests; if you need more let me
know, although I'm getting distracted with other work.

[Bug 79160] Re: Ubuntu Dapper screen saver crashes X server

2007-01-13 Thread Andrew Ash
Wilsonag from the forums suggests that reinstalling the nvidia driver
fixes things, since any OpenGL activity crashes X. He suggests testing
with glxgears.

Could you please let us know if that crashes things? If that does, this
would be more likely an nvidia driver error and will be reassigned.

Re: [Bug 78199] Re: evolution problems making a listserv

2007-01-13 Thread Scotty Michaelsen
Thank you for responding to my report. I should have used contact list
instead of listserv. Everyone I know uses listserv which may be a term
from Outlook Express. Sorry for causing the confusion.

When trying to setup a contact list, I have been successful in making
short lists of 10 to 20 addresses where each is added individually or
perhaps several at a time but the list I am working on now has 660
people and when copying and pasting that many it does not seem to create
the whole list. Also, when creating the list it will show 4 of each
person's name only one of which has the email address. The others have
street addresses or no information about the person. There is only one
card for each person In the contact list. I created the list from an
Excel file which was converted to a .csv file and then imported to
Evolution to setup the contact list.

The steps to that I am following are:
Select evolution "contacts"
Select mailing list ( ie: Personal List or other created list)
Select "new > contact list
In contact list editor:
Type name for List name
Click on "Select"
In Contact list Editor
Click on an address and Ctrl A
Click on Add
Return to contact list editor:
Left click "add" and "ok"

I hope this helps to clarify the problem I encoutered.

Thanks,
Scotty Michaelsen
