[Bug 82083] evolution hangs on big multipart attachments

2007-01-29 Thread rashudo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Recently I've received a large multi-part e-mail message with a big
attachment. There are 6 e-mails with about 10 MB of data each. When i
open the first one, the application freezes up, displaying the
"formatting messages" text.

Even after waiting for over an hour, the application is still not ready
processing the e-mails. It's a big problem for me, because Evolution
opens this specific e-mail whenever i start Evolution, so i can't use
Evolution for anything anymore, it just freezes up and that's it.

I'm using a fresh install of Ubuntu Edgy Eft with the latest version of
Evolution (i do daily updates).

 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 81608] Re: Please use DejaVu Sans Condensed as the default font

2007-01-29 Thread Michiel Sikma
By the way, I also believe that this font's usability goes up when using
the "low" amount of hinting. It causes the top and bottom row of pixels
to be correctly hinted. If we use this font as default, I believe that
we should also start using that setting as the default hinting. (Should
I open up a new bug report for this?)

[Bug 82089] gnome-terminal seg faults while upgrading to edgy

2007-01-29 Thread Glyphobet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

This has happened to me twice, on two different machines, when upgrading
from Ubuntu 6.06 ("dapper") to Ubuntu 6.10 ("edgy"). My guess would be
that this is due to mismatches between libraries as some have been
upgraded and others have not yet been, but who knows.

Since I'm running update-manager -c from a gnome-terminal, the seg fault causes
the upgrade process to die as well, leaving the package manager in a really
screwed up state. I managed to fix it by re-running the edgy upgrade program
that had been downloaded to /tmp/ several times, and by using aptitude to fix
broken packages when the edgy upgrade program could not handle the broken
packages.

[Bug 82098] Easy install of proprietary voice synthesizers

2007-01-29 Thread Gilles Casse
Public bug reported:

This feature concerns gnome-speech and potentially any other speech
driver managing a proprietary voice synthesizer.

If a user wishes to install a proprietary voice synthesizer, the process
is not really straitghtforward: she will install specific libraries,
modify configurations files, re-compile the speech driver, etc...

GNU/Linux distro could offer a pre-compiled package; the main issues are
legal issues.

The user could "reconfigure" the speech driver package once her
proprietary software is installed. This feature is offered in the
Emacspeak Debian package by James R. Van Zandt.

[Bug 82098] Re: Easy install of proprietary voice synthesizers

2007-01-29 Thread Luke Yelavich
I have had similar thoughts for a long time now. The problem is, if
there are no open source headers to be able to build the support for
such libraries, like the ibmtts code that is BSD licensed, it simply
cannot be done, for one simple reason.

The proprietary code cannot be present on the build machines at package
build time.

The best we can hope to offer, is a system where the package gets re-
compiled when the user wants to build support for a proprietary synth.

2007-01-29 Thread squigglewiggle
hey,
sorry. slightly busy. Ubuntu installation didn't detect windows so I couldn't
boot it, then I tried to fix it with the super grub disk, which completely
screwed my main boot record, then I had to run down to the computer vendor's
office and get the XP disk which didn't come with the laptop. Will be a bit
busy for the next 2 days or so with work piling up : ) sorry! thx for bein

[Bug 82111] panel applets are messed up after xrandr rotation

2007-01-29 Thread Vincenzo Ciancia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I am using feisty, but it was the same under edgy. If I use the (longly-
awaited on i915) screen rotation feature of my display to set it to
vertical mode, the panel gets shrinked enough so that applets and
buttons on the right (e.g. clock and shutdown button) are moved to the
left, and when I get back to horizontal mode they get back to their
position, however, when I logout and log in back again, buttons and
applets that were affected by the rotation are messed up.

I can confirm that.

My IMAP server is Cyrus 2.2 (both of them).

I tried removing and adding account in Evolution, tried creating new
local account to start with empty Evolution settings. Nothing helped.

Thunderbird is just fine.

What I was able to get from CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG is that sometimes it
gets some error message (See last line), but I am not sure if it's
connected to bad SELECT command processing.

[Bug 82131] totem and totem-mozilla dependency problem

2007-01-29 Thread Scott Severance
Public bug reported:

Currently, I have totem, totem-mozilla, and totem-xine installed, all at
version 2.16.2-0ubuntu1 (I'm running Edgy, by the way). I'm being
offered an upgrade of totem and totem-mozilla to version
2.16.2-0ubuntu3, but I can't upgrade due to dependency issues. apt-
get/aptitude/synaptic insist that I must switch to totem-gstreamer,
which is more incompetent than totem-xine. Clearly, something is broken,
because I've been using totem-xine since I installed Ubuntu (except for
when the Edgy upgrade unhelpfully reverted me to totem-gstreamer,
leading me to wonder for a while why I could no longer play the media I
was used to playing).

Thanks for your quick response, i managed to produce the following
result in gdb, also i noticed that the application takes up about 240mb
of memory, i don't know if that is normal. If i don't use the debugger
and wait too long, the system gets so unresponsive i have to reboot.

2007-01-29 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Fixed with that upload:

 rhythmbox (0.9.7-2ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low
 .
   * Sync with Debian:
 - the manpages have been updated (Ubuntu: #65295)
   * debian/control.in:
 - Build-Depends on liblaunchpad-integration-dev
 - use Recommends instead of Depends for gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly since
   it's an universe package
 - updated python version to 2.4
   * debian/patches/01_lpi.patch,
 debian/patches/02_autoconf.patch:
 - patches for launchpad-integration
   * debian/patches/06_oggradios.patch:
 - list only ogg stations by default
   * debian/patches/90_from_svn_fix_thread_init_function.patch:
 - patch from SVN, fix warning about thread init (Ubuntu: #79270)

[Bug 80817] Re: gaim 2.0 beta6 crashes when you change away messages

2007-01-29 Thread Sebastien Bacher
That upload fixes the bug:

 gaim (1:2.0.0+beta6-1ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low
 .
   * Sync with Debian
   * debian/control:
 - Build-Depends on libxext-dev, liblaunchpad-integration-dev, intltool,
   libnm-glib-dev and on libnss-dev (firefox)
   rather than libnss3-dev (xulrunner)
 - don't Build-Depends on libavahi-compat-howl-dev
 - updated gaim Conflicts, Replaces on gaim-data
   * debian/patches/01_lpi.patch,
 debian/patches/02_autoconf.patch:
 - launchpad integration patches.
   * debian/patches/04_let_crasher_for_apport.patch:
 - don't catch crashes, apport does that.
 - fixes apport having broken backtraces for gaim
   * debian/patches/14_xulrunner_nss.patch::
 - not useful for Ubuntu, firefox is used
   * debian/patches/99_default_to_irc_ubuntu_com.patch:
 - set default irc server to irc.ubuntu.com
   * debian/prefs.xml:
 - set the notify by default (Ubuntu: #13389)
   * debian/rules
 - Add translation domain to desktop file.
 - call intltool-update to build the .pot

As described in the previous comments, your report lacks the information
we need to investigate the problem further. We'll close this report for
now - please reopen it if you can give us the missing information.

The other crashes are probably different problems and would be better
placed on a new bug
