This is indeed still happening with 2.0.0.1 in Edgy.

I'm going to reproduce this on Feisty later on as well.

[Bug 84147] feisty nautilus can't connect to edgy samba server

2007-02-08 Thread Justin Dugger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I've got music and videos shared by samba on my edgy desktop.
Connecting to edgy samba from itself works, but from my feisty laptop to
the edgy server fails. "The folder contents could not be displayed" A
different bug caused this to fail in edgy; supposedly this was fixed.

I've marked this as nautilus, as my roommate's Windows seems fine with
it.  It's possible it's edgy's samba implementation.

Re: [Bug 42189] Re: No easy way to print a single sheet of multiple copies of the same photo

As long as there is an easy, obvious way to print more than one of the
same photo on the same sheet of paper, I'm happy. I think it is more up
to Canonical to judge where the appropriate place to put that
functionality would be.

[Bug 69525] Re: Port listeningn / registration broken (by design)

2007-02-08 Thread Toni Heinonen
Yes, it is. This is by design, as I pointed out. It's in 2.0.3-0ubuntu5
as well as in snapshot 20070208-01-feisty.1 from snapshots.ekiga.net.

It goes as far as when starting ekiga when I have no network connection
for it being unfunctional until restarted (even trying to register my
account by hand doesn't work, it just always says "registration failed"
presumably because it doesn't have the socket to use).

[Bug 83889] Re: apt shows incorrect language strings if used with specific locale settings - and aborts package installation if you confirm installation

2007-02-08 Thread Christian Hofstädtler
Oh, another thing I forgot to mention in the bug report. If I setup my
locale like this:

LANG=de_AT.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=de_AT:de

-> it works. apt shows "[J/n]", and entering "j" or "J" works.

The packages are for Ubuntu Feisty. They do not work with older versions
like Edgy or Dapper. To run the packages on an older version you will
have to rebuild the source package.

Just today I tried to install the packages. However, I couldnt install them:
They report:

Any advice?

[Bug 83464] Re: mailcap file /etc/mailcap line 125 incomplete entry ignored.

2007-02-08 Thread Brian Murray
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 61263 ***

Thanks for your bug report. I have tracked this down to gnumeric
improperly modifying your /etc/mailcap file. In line 125 there should
be a semicolon after "x-sc" (should be "x-sc;") and 126 should be
combined with 125. I am working on getting the gnumeric issue resolved.
Thanks for your bug report.

I'm admitting that LANG=en_US.UTF-8 gets set by a local user configuration
file. (zshenv)
This is really intended behaviour (and it worked until upgrading to feisty;
seems like edgy doesn't set $LANGUAGE). (gdm isn't the cause for that.)

I guess it's really a very uncommon configuration. Still, apt is showing
something else than it's expecting.

[Bug 83464] mailcap file /etc/mailcap line 125 incomplete entry ignored.

2007-02-08 Thread Alexandre Racine
Public bug reported:

Hi people, I am using 6.10 (Edgy)

When I start some application, I get a message box that say : "mailcap
file /etc/mailcap, line 125 incomplete entry ignored."

So far, this happears in those applications that I use. I can remember :

-Filezilla 3, beta 3.
-Bittorrent t-0.3.15

Here are a couple of lines in the file in question: (I added the "[124]"
part for line numbers)

[124]application/x-quattropro; gnumeric '%s'; edit=gnumeric '%s';
description="Quattro Pro spreadsheet"; test=test -n "$DISPLAY";
nametemplate=%s.wb1
[125]application/x-sc
[126]gnumeric '%s'; edit=gnumeric '%s'; description="SC/XSpread spreadsheet";
test=test -n "$DISPLAY"; nametemplate=%s.sc
[127]application/x-sylk; gnumeric '%s'; edit=gnumeric '%s';
description="Multiplan SYLK spreadsheet"; test=test -n "$DISPLAY";
nametemplate=%s.slk

One way to bypass this is by commenting the line in question, but the file auto
regenerate itself from time to time so no breakthrough there.

I think this is pretty low priority, but reporting this will only make
Ubuntu better! :)

[Bug 84086] [apport] serpentine crashed with AssertionError in _get_progress()"

2007-02-08 Thread Jerrid Kimball
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: serpentine

Steps taken to receive error on a fresh boot.

1. Boot (obviously)
2. Insert blank disk.
3. When asked, tell Gnome to burn an audio CD.
4. Serpentine loads. Add 192kbps variable-bit-rate audio tracks to the list of
tracks to burn.
5. After waiting for Serpentine to import the tracks (12 in this case), click
"Write to Disk" button.
5. Disc writing window opens, begins converting tracks at which point
Serpentine gave the error.

The disk did burn successfully since it's a different program and, oddly,
Serpentine did not actually crash.
Perhaps, the program that crashed was a subprocess.

step 4 → I guess I'll have to press "1" to make it big again →

step 5 → I'll check the movie's properties again... what? it doesn't
change the video size now? →

step 6 → and if I close it, the video still remains the proper size...

[Bug 84065] Evolution should give feedback when messages are sent

2007-02-08 Thread Vincenzo Ciancia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When I send e-mail (especially with the nautilus-sendto plugin, but also
in general in evolution) there is no feedback when it is "really" sent,
i.e. when transfer is completed. Last week I made a mess at office for
this reason - I closed evolution, went offline, I am not sure at all,
but I found my message still in outbox and I thought to have sent it. If
some visual feedback e.g. a small progressbar in the statusbar, could
be shown after clicking on "send" this would help. This feedback should
be given in a separate window if the main window does not exist, e.g.
after "send to" in nautilus.

[Bug 84063] [Feisty] gnome-network-preferences breaks /etc/network/interfaces

2007-02-08 Thread mlind
Public bug reported:

gnome-control-center 1:2.17.90-0ubuntu4

gnome-network-preferences doesn't correctly modify /etc/network/interfaces when
"Static IP address" is selected from Connections -> eth0 -> Properties. static
keyword is missing from /etc/network/interfaces iface definition and this
results corrupt configuration which gnome-network-preferences is unable to fix.

Steps to reproduce:
1. select dhcp configuration for eth0 and close the dialog
2. open dialog again, select static configuration, fill the fields and close
the dialog

/etc/network/interfaces should be missing static keyword (but contains a
trailing whitespace in iface line). if static keyword is manually added,
gnome-network-preferences is able to parse the file correctly again
(otherwise it stays in roaming mode).

2007-02-08 Thread della
I am using feisty up to date with latest release of beryl, video card
is the one integrated in the new macbook, an Intel.

I have this problem: deskbar does not get focus if in "entry in panel"
mode, while it works in the other mode.

To be precise, I can select with mouse the text that is in the deskbar
but no keyboard input is received or at least displayed, nor a charater
appear, nor a paste works.

As far as I remember, it worked well till few days ago.
If I switch with beryl manager to metacity theme, it works perfectly.

[Bug 74670] Re: GNOME Clock has duplicate 0x20's on single-figure dates

2007-02-08 Thread Alex Jones
Because it would be consistent with itself. In a monospace terminal, the
width of a space is equal to the width of a digit, so dates line up in,
e.g. "ls". This isn't the case with variable-width fonts and it just
looks silly to have inconsistent spacing between, e.g.
"Fri··9·Feb,·17:42" and "Sat·10·Feb,·17:42".
