[Bug 84471] [apport] gnome-sudoku crashed with KeyError in entry_validate()

2007-02-10 Thread gossrock
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

I play Sudoku almost completely manually (i.e. I don't use hints or
fills). The whole game does not crash after the crash report dialog
comes up. The only thing that seems to stop working is that the game
does not register that I have finished the game. Since the game is
saved as you go along closing the window and restarting the program
allows me to start from where I left off and it will register the game
being finished after the restart.

[Bug 77451] Re: Hal doesn't detect my soundcard

2007-02-10 Thread Ernst Persson
I guess this was something else, didn't help here:
hal (0.5.8.1-4ubuntu5) feisty; urgency=low

  * Add support for newer sysfs layout
  * Add support for devices on the SSB bus

 -- Matthew Garrett <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sat, 10 Feb 2007 20:58:50 +
Could it be patch to make it work without CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED, as they
mention at the pulseaudio page?

But I guess this should be changed to a kernel bug then, since this patch
http://pulseaudio.org/attachment/ticket/51/alsa-sysfs-fix-2.6.20-rc5-updated.txt
should be applied to the kernel.

[Bug 84458] gdmsetup does not work, lacks custom.conf

2007-02-10 Thread Erdal Ronahi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Calling gdmsetup from a terminal or the GNOME control center results in

[Bug 83142] Re: SOLUTION [apport] gedit crashed with SIGSEGV when trying to change input method

2007-02-10 Thread Ari Caldeira
Sebastien,

I think I solved this bug, and bug 84011 also: the composing rules of X
for the Esperanto locales were commented in file:

/usr/share/X11/locale/compose.dir

lines 97 and 98, 362 and 363, 592 and 593, 857 and 858

and in file

/usr/share/X11/locale/locale.dir

lines 97 and 98, 345 and 346, 577 and 578, 825 and 826

Once I uncommented those lines, dead keys started to work again, and
right-clicking in gedit to change input method also worked.

Well, it solved the bug for me, but still doesn't explain why gedit
crashed anyhow...

Thanks for your time, should I file another bug to make those lines to
be uncommented?

[Bug 75858] Re: regression: png to postscript -> black image

2007-02-10 Thread Robhogg
I am using Dapper, but see a black image on both postscript output files
(using Document Viewer).

I have been experiencing an issue which may be related:

Since install, I have had a problem in certain software when trying to
print png images (particularly with transparency), I particularly
noticed it with a document I created in OpenOffice.org which contained a
montage of several images (.png files with transparent backgrounds).
This printed with no problems from OOo. However, when I exported the
document to pdf, although it displayed correctly on the screen the
individual images were printed with solid backgrounds - some black and
some white. The same pdf printed with no problems via Acrobat Reader in
Windows, leading me to conclude that the problem is in the Ubuntu
printing system.

2007-02-10 Thread ponnappan
I too faced the same problem recently (when I was switching back and
forth between kdm and gdm)

I restored by login window fonts by the following method.

- the login window themes for kubuntu was in /usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/kubuntu/
- the heart of the theme was kubuntu.xml
- sudo vi kubuntu.xml
- decrease the font size (in my case decreased it to 8)
- restart the display manager
- yo! it worked.

[Bug 73227] Re: [feisty] some partitions do not appear in Places menu

2007-02-10 Thread Tom Kravanja
I did a fresh install of Feisty and I followed the Chieffo's suggest of
creating a new user account, but didn't solved the problem.

The partitions appears only if i restart dbus (and hal with it).
Moreover, i would like to say that the partitions are correctly mounted
(mount points in /media aren't empty) but they aren't shown up on the
desktop and in Nautilus. I wonder if this can be a gnome-volume-manager
or a gnome-mount problem.

Anyway I change the bug status to confirmed.

[Bug 84014] Re: feisty rhythmbox hangs randomly

2007-02-10 Thread Jamie Fox
I have a similar problem with Rhythmbox 0.9.7 in Feisty, but it occurs
also in normal (linear) playback mode, and only with one particular Ogg
Vorbis file (as far as I am aware). When either selected for playback
manually, or automatically after the end of the previous track, the
selected track will not start playing, it will just stick at 0:00. As
reported above, seeking forward will start playback from the appropriate
point.

I've verified that this does not occur in Edgy (0.9.6-0ubuntu4) with the
same file.

Output of rhythmbox -d attached.

[Bug 84413] Nautilus ipod remount fails

2007-02-10 Thread Ricardo Pontes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Remounting an Ipod nano fails with a "Unable to mount media. There is
probably no media in the drive" popup.

Plug in ipod nano in usb port (rhythmbos starts up fine and mounts ipod with
correct songs listed). An ipod icon is displayed on my Desktop. I right click
on icon and select eject and icon disappears off my destop and from rhythmbox.
I then go to Computer in gnome (nautilus) and I can see a volume called "Apple
iPod Music Player". I double click it and I get the above message. RIght
clicking Icon and selecting "mount volume" produces same
error. I'm forced to physically disconnect and reconnect for it to remount. I
am using feisty fawn heard 2, Nautilus 2.17.90, Rhythmbox 0.9.7.90.

[Bug 12393] Re: mount -t auto does not automatically load modules

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 36249 ***

As of 10.2.2007, after two years of the original bug report, this bug is
still not fixed. Not possible to read floppies on several of my
computers running Dapper and Edgy.

sudo umount -tvfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/

Works, but this is not an acceptable practice on a desktop machine for

[Bug 84080] Re: Metacity crashes at startup

2007-02-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
"apport-unpack file.crash directory". On feisty apport sent different
files to the bug so it's easier, you can open or download only what you
want. You can also use "apport-retrace" to download the debug packages
for everything used by the app and regenerate a backtrace then (or just
update the backtrace without installing anything if you prefer)

I think I have the same problem.
After suspend2ram (suspend2disk not tested but probably the same)

dhclient' but this isn't working with WEP protection.

This happpened after feisty update.

[Bug 84363] nautilus can't remount non-removable media

2007-02-10 Thread Lauri Kainulainen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Nautilus can unmount non-removable media like NTFS-partitions through
the desktop or via the file manager. However it can't mount them back on
because pmount complains:

error: device /dev/hda2 is not removable

error: could not execute pmount

It would seem consistent that mounting non-removables would be possible.
Either via pmount or by executing the regular mount command (think of
users that accidentally unmount their drives and then panic when the
drive won't come back)

[Bug 75816] Re: File-roller

2007-02-10 Thread Tahir Emre KALAYCI
I believe this bug appears in Turkish localizations only. File roller sometimes
gives -idp error and couldn't open rar files. I have same problem on my Debian
installed, Turkish localized machine. Same rars doesn't extract because of this
error using file roller.
This is all about Turkish big i problem. In Turkish "i" is a different
character when it is uppercase (i->İ)(ı->I)(For more info :
http://www.i18nguy.com/unicode/turkish-i18n.html).

Talat wrote a patch to solve this problem in Turkish localizations for
file roller. I believe file roller developers must solve this problem
using this patch.

[Bug 84346] Font rendering bug in Gnome Control Centre sidebar

2007-02-10 Thread Edward Ari Bichetero
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

The "Group" selection buttons in gnome-control-center render with little
jagged edges, as if hinting was turned off for them. The rest of the
control centre uses the desktop wide hinting (I haven't changed it from
the install default).

However, when I mouseover a button the rendering looks correct and as
soon as the mouse leaves the button it is back to jaggies.

No other button on my system behaves like that, so it doesn't appear to
be a gtk bug.

Always reproducible.
