[Bug 85725] Add a setting to hide the launchpad menu items

2007-02-17 Thread Vincent Untz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: liblaunchpad-integration0

It's good to have launchpad integration, but some people might want to
hide them (for example, when they want to show an upstream desktop, or
if they disagree with the use of launchpad for some reason).

There should be a global gconf key that this lib would look at to know
whether the menu items should be added or not.

[Bug 24280] Re: locally installed gtk themes not applied to admin apps

2007-02-17 Thread perriman
I think when you launch an application with gksu, it be save the actual
user session environment .

for example, when you execute su user you change the user but all
session environment don't change and when you execute su - user then
the session environment change to the user logged.

I think that if you launch some application with gksu it may use the
user theme and gksu - the root theme.

Chuchi

[Bug 85736] Available disk space shouldn't include removable media

2007-02-17 Thread Adam McMaster
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

The System tab includes a total of the available disk space on all
mounted disks. This makes sense for permanently mounted disks, but it
may be misleading to include removable media (e.g. usb disks) in this

/media should be excluded from the total.

Unfortunately no, gconf is not my strong point. I was asked to submit
this as a bug so it could be added. But my knowledge of gconf is
limited

[Bug 85785] desk-bar applet should hide result-list when focus is lost

2007-02-17 Thread Ralf Nieuwenhuijsen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

Reproducable steps:
  - Type something in the deskbar
  - See a result list
  - Click anywhere else on the screen
  - The result-list is not hidden

Which is just slightly annoying, since this is inconsistent with the rest of
the desktop.
Any type of dropdown list should hide when unfocused.

Suggested fix:
  - when the text-box or the list loose focus and neither has it, it should
hide (like it does when escape is pressed)

This happens both when a button-in-the-panel and when the searchfield-
in-the-panel is used.

[Bug 85575] Re: gnome-terminal reacting very sluggishly

2007-02-17 Thread Thomas Schwinge
A further data point: side by side I open two terminals. In one I have
`top' running. In the other I do someting to make the terminal screen
scroll. In `top' I can see that Xorg's cpu usage converges to 100 %.

#v+
$ while sleep 1  seq 0 20 | tr \\n \   echo; do :; done
#v-

... for example gives a Xorg cpu usage of 40 %, which is too much in my
understanding.

[Bug 85821] Feisty Herd4: Cancel button in gnome-screenshot app.

2007-02-17 Thread moma
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

Hi,

1) Gnome-screenshot application could be slightly improved.

Took a screenshot.
I want to save the screenshot but the file already exists. I press the
Cancel-button to cancel the action but the application terminates and I loose
the shot. It's not what the user expects. Cancel should revert the previous
action, not to quit the whole application.

2) Alacarte menu editor should have a menu, as described in GNOME's HIG.
http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/ Alacarte looks weird and menuless.
Eg. help-menu has normally many important options: Translate this app, Report a
bug, About Program version etc..

Drag drop does not work in Alacarte. Drag drop seems to move items
but nothing really happen.

[Bug 85826] gnome-screensaver package should be mandatory

2007-02-17 Thread Sascha Peilicke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Somehow i managed to accidential uninstall the gnome-screensaver package
with the result that is was unable to set a screensaver and lock my
screen, this was not a big hit, but i think the ubuntu-desktop package
should depend on gnome-screensaver . I have not found out why it was
uninstalled.

[Bug 85831] battery not detected

2007-02-17 Thread della
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

MacBook Core2 Duo, Feisty up to date.
Everything worked well till one of the update of february. since then (I think
0.5.8.1-4ubuntu5 or ubuntu6) my battery is not detected anymore.
hal-device does not show any battery and gnome-power-manager does not offer any
tab related to On battery power nor older options work (when i close the
laptop, the screen remains active while originally it went to blank-screen.

I do not know for sure if this is a hal problem, but after some
investigation I think it is possible.

Let me know if you need further informations about hardware or feisty
configuration.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Running on Edgy, AMD64: Rhythmbox crashes while playing MP3.

I started a print job the same time it crashed. I can't believe the two
are related, but I'm mentioning it in case it is important.

Crash dump attached.

[Bug 85834] Evolution alarm notify should not autostart in KDE

2007-02-17 Thread Andreas Simon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

evolution-alarm-notify gets automatically started in KDE sessions.

This is usually unwished for because KDE comes with it's own alarm
notification system.

Proposed fix:
Add a
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;
line in /etc/xdg/autostart/evolution-alarm-notify.desktop

This is in current Feisty and only appears if you have evolution (for
example as part of ubuntu-desktop) and KDE installed together.

This issue was introduced in kdelibs (4:3.5.6-0ubuntu4) with the patch
kubuntu_68_xdg_autostart.diff

PS: I dunno much about XFCE. If Evolution is also the default PIM application
of XFCE, the above line should read
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;XFCE;
as in most other files under /etc/xdg/autostart

[Bug 85828] Re: Rhythmbox crashes while playing MP3

2007-02-17 Thread Joe Bradley
What I was doing was I selected all artists, all albums and had
shuffle on. I haven't seen it do it if I select an album and play it
straight through.
