It means that somebody needs to confirm the problem happens on his
computer. There is probably enough informations for that, there is
thousand of desktop bugs open and only few people working on them so it
might take some time though

[Bug 64264] Re: gnome-menus doesn't send notification for new .desktop files

2007-02-23 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Comment from upstream:

Doesn't look right to me.

Take the simple case of a .desktop file being deleted. We only want to invoke
the monitors if something has actually changed in our view of the world, so we
only want to invoke monitors if cached_dir_remove_entry() returns TRUE

Also marking this bug as NEEDINFO, as there isn't enough info for me to figure
out the bug myself - e.g. what exactly is alacarte doing when you copy an item,
what does the gnome-menus verbose log show etc. ?

[Bug 87293] Backing Up Evolution to a .tar (Archive??) file

2007-02-23 Thread Kevin P. Munn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Tried backing up to a .tar file, using the suggested:

~$ tar -cvzf evolution-backup.tar.gz .evolution .gconf/apps/evolution
.gnome2_private/evolution

AFTER closing and Force Closing.
It did not return the .tar file, giving instead:

tar: .gnome2_private/evolution: Cannot stat: No such file or directory
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

What am I doing wrong? Or is there a better way of backing it up?
At least if I can, It will SHUT UP my boss...

[Bug 84505] sound volume control broken on dell inspiron 6000 laptop

2007-02-23 Thread WINTLE, John
Hey There

I seem to be having a volume issue with my Dell Inspiron 6000. When I
try and turn up the volume using my custom controls at the front of my
notebook it will go up one block and mute the volume, and not go past
that point... If I try and turn it down, the volume becomes un-muted
but goes back to no blocks.

The mute button works, the play, stop and skip buttons do not work.

Please let me know if I should be providing further information.

Cheers, Johnny

2007-02-23 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug. The bug tracker is not a place where to ask user
questions like that, you probably want to use
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+tickets rather. Note that the
feisty version of Evolution has menu items to backup and restore your
settings which will probably be a better way to do that. The error you
copied is clear enough tar: .gnome2_private/evolution: Cannot stat: No
such file or directory, there is no .gnome2_private/evolution
directory, you probably want to try with .gnome2_private/Evolution

[Bug 87307] Remote file on FAT32 samba share lost when renaming and changing case only

2007-02-23 Thread Jonathan Clowser
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Ubuntu Feisty Fawn installed
Nautilus version 2.17.91

Problem occurs on a shared external USB drive formatted as FAT32 plugged
to a Maxtor Shared Storage NAS.

Steps to reproduce.

1. Open up a FAT32 based samba share in nautilus using smb://computer/share
(works ok if the share is mounted)
2. Create a new file called 'test.txt'
3. Press F2 and rename it 'Test.txt'
4. An error dialog pops up saying 'The item could not be renamed. The name
Test.txt is already used in this folder. Please use a different name.'
5. Click OK and the file 'test.txt' has disappeared, although the window
doesn't automatically refresh.

Tried same thing on a different machine with Gentoo installed (Gnome
2.16.2/Nautilus 2.16.3) and the file remains.

[Bug 78343] Re: gnome-terminal mouse performance slow on feisty

2007-02-23 Thread Alan Tam
I also see the same problem, in fact even more problems, and in fact
with both gnome-terminal and xfce4-terminal. All these happened since I
upgraded to Herd 3, and still persists till now.

General slowness with gnome-terminal is one thing. Sometimes typing a
character to the shell takes a second to appear. Selecting with mouse is
also very slow, especially when it involves scrolling. Scrolling by
Shift-Up/Down is also very slow.

Sometimes, I see broken characters (yes, part of the character is
missing) inside the terminal, but when I select the text, the characters
become alright. But they appear broken again when I deselect.

I am using IBM T40 with P4M 1.4G and 768MB RAM.

When using g-a-p-p to edit the CD Quality, AAC profile, the edit

[Bug 87343] Re: British localisation spelling

2007-02-23 Thread Carlos Perelló Marín
That's a problem (if it's really a problem) in Ubuntu, not launchpad or
Rosetta.

I don't think it's really a bug there, but just something that should be
'translated' from the English used in the application to en_GB, once we
open Feisty for translations (I hope next week) go to
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/feisty/+lang/en_GB and help that team
(https://beta.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-en-gb) to improve the spelling
for British English.

Cheers.
