[Bug 37736] Re: Microphone bug in Ubuntu Dapper.

2007-03-05 Thread Trip
Just though I'd better mention that I wrote a quick tutorial on how to
get around this bug on my Ubuntu-FS site a while ago.

http://ubuntufs.wordpress.com/2006/06/08/trouble-with-your-microphone/

I keep a keen eye on the sites stats & this still seems to be one of the
most read articles on the whole blog. I think that it effects quite a
few different types of laptops, not just Sony VAIO's.

Can you please join #ubuntu-mozillateam and ask before you mark

[Bug 90002] Gaim closes without aparent reason

2007-03-05 Thread Brunno Gomes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gaim

When using Gaim for a few minutes, it closes without any aparent reason
and with all it's conversation windows. I opened it from the terminal
emulator to get the error message when it closes and here it is (in
portuguese, the translated to english by me):

Falha de segmentação (core dumped)

Segmentation Fault (core dumped)

Then it opened a bug report, that I'll send too.

This problem always happens to me when using Gaim, with other IM clients
nothing like this happens, so i guesse it has nothing to do with the
protocol or something like that.

[Bug 80515] Re: Evince only prints the half of the first page.

2007-03-05 Thread Gláuber Gonçalves
I'm having the same problem, and it seems to happen just in Evince,
so I'm not quite sure that's a matter of printing settings, as I haven't
changed them from its defaults. I'm also attaching a file that shows a
scan I've done of a page after being printed trough Evince. It just
shows the upper-left part of it, the rest is not printed. I'm using
Evince 0.6.1 under Ubuntu 6.10 and my printer is an HP PSC 1510 all-in-
one.

not sure what caused this. I did have a bug report dialogue on my
desktop and it kept reappearing even though I clicked close, this may
have something to do with it.

[Bug 85766] Re: mouse doesn't work in War§o w any more

2007-03-05 Thread Christoph Rauch
I correct me. After looking at src/gs-watcher-x11.c I think beagle looks
for the mouse and key-events itself. Suspected some d-bus trickery.

So is this a problem in gnome-screensaver after all? Or is it a problem
in x11?

[Bug 71593] Re: glChess has no 3D

2007-03-05 Thread Robert Ancell
python-gtkglext1 has been added to Debian unstable in the last week:
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/python/python-gtkglext1

The glchess packaged version is slightly better as it builds the
bindings for all the installed versions of Python (though I suspect this
change will be added to the Deb Unstable version soon).

Hopefully it will be picked up for Feisty+1? Once Ubuntu has picked up
the package I get to stop maintaining it :)

I am running Edgy. I followed the first step to generate a backtrace, but I am
stuck at :

The crash happens when I right click on the panel and add "main menu" to it. So
I don't know which 'program' this action is related to.

The strace did work, attached a dump.

[Bug 85766] I can still confirm this bug.

2007-03-05 Thread Christoph Rauch
I suspected this had something to do with the fact that beagle uses all
my CPU if I refrain from mouse moving for too long. If I move my mouse
beagle stops instantaneous. Somehow beagle must get notified of mouse
movements. I suspected that control of the mouse is not given off to
newly launched applications.

So I killed several processes until I got the culprit.

It's gnome-screensaver. If I kill it mouse works again in Warsow. If I
start it again, mouse isn't working anymore. Pretty obvious I think. :)

In retrospect it's obvious that gnome-screensaver should stop beagle
from beagling as it has to look for mouse movement anyway. So I'm pretty
sure this is a bug. :)

In the process of finishing the Feisty upgrade I logged in an out a few

somewhat:

* /var/run is still visible in the nautilus trash window
* By own trash files are also there, plus they are in ~/.Trash as they are
supposed to
* The trash icon nevertheless shows "empty", and the "empty trash" context menu
entry is grayed out

[Bug 89967] Nautilus crash on opening a 2nd mp3 file in Icon view only in ssh folder

2007-03-05 Thread Nicolas M
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This crash happens when :
- Nautilus browses a ssh folder on a remote host (ssh://...)
- In Icon view only. Doesn't seem to appear in list view
- When trying to open a second mp3 file : a first mp3 file is opened correctly
in totem. Then, when trying to open a second one, it seems like the mime type
is lost, the icon of the file displays a white rectangle (instead of the green
music note). At that point, Nautilus seems to have become completely unstable.
- The bug does *not* appear when Nautilus browses a *local* folder.

Attached is a complete crashdump of this event, with debug symbols.

[Bug 89959] gnome panel crash

2007-03-05 Thread dominique
Public bug reported:

Suddenly, gnome crashed, and opened a bugreport. It did it about times. After
that, I didn't have any panel anymore, so no access to applications or anything
else.
The only solution to shut down is to ctrl-alt-backspace and shut down form
options.
Guys at the forum suggested to delete the following files :

.gconf
.gconfd
.gnome
.gnome2

which I did by booting on my other distro and accessing the ubuntu home
fodler from there.

Now, once I restart on Ubuntu, I have an empty panel. If I try to add
the main menu, I get back to the same problem. So for now, ubuntu is
unusable.

[Bug 89950] User's trash suddenly includes a copy of /var/run

2007-03-05 Thread Mario Vukelic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I had a weird thing happening that I cannot explain, I just can describe
what I see. I am willing to investigate further if you can ask for more
specific info.

My computer was running Edgy as of this morning, but was upgraded to
Feisty just now; the issue still persists as described below:

During a vacation my computer was on, but just sat there for a few days.
To my knowledge nobody touched it (and nobody was in the apartment I
hope). Nothing special was running, just Gnome, NetworkManager,
Evolution, Gaim, Firefox, and gtk-gnutella. Upon return I saw that my
user's Trash icon was showing "full" and wanted to empty it. However,
nothing happened; it stayed full.

Figuring that there was a permission problem (known issue with being
unable to delete root-owned files from user's Trash), I looked into the
Trash and found that it included a complete set of the files and
directories that live in /var/run. I have no clue why those files
suddenly show up in the Trash. See the attached screenshot example.

If I try to delete the files by rightclicking them inside the Trash, I
get, e.g., "Error while deleting. "/var/run/acpid.socket" cannot be
deleted because you do not have permissions to modify its parent
folder." Given the situation, this is expected behavior since a user
cannot delete from /var/run.

If I carefully delete the files from /var/run, they disappear from the
user's Trash too.

If I "sudo touch /var/run/testfile", the file immediately shows up in
the user's Trash.

I have only 2 users on this machine, and therefore I have only 2 .Trash
direcories:

sudo find / -name ".Trash"
/home/user1/.Trash
/home/user2/.Trash

But they don't contain the files:

sudo ls -la /home/{user1,user2}/.Trash
/home/user2/.Trash:
total 8
drwx-- 2 user2 user1 4096 2006-11-04 18:26 .
drwxr-xr-x 16 user2 user1 4096 2006-12-20 19:37 ..

/home/user1/.Trash:
total 12
drwx-- 2 user1 user1 8192 2007-03-05 20:48 .
drwxr-xr-x 53 user1 user1 4096 2007-03-05 20:34 ..

seems to affect to a different degree only cairo-enabled gtk2 engines --

and murrina (0.51: scroll-bar is OK, but the buttons aren't).

[Bug 89919] crash when chatting with specific person

2007-03-05 Thread mafu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gaim

Hello,
GAIM never, ever crashed on me before, but after I have added one particular
person, every time I talk with that person, GAIM crashes. This is over msn.

If the person is online, and I chat with that person, it mostly only
takes a few seconds for a crash. My version is 2.0.0beta3.1, I'm on
Ubuntu Edgy 32 bit. I will attach a crash report. I am not sure whether
this is a duplicate of another bug or not, so I'll post it, just to make
sure. :)

/mafu
