I can confirm this bug too.

In my case, setting tookbar to hide becomes in a white window.

As a workaround do this:

- Open gconf-editor
- Go to /apps/gthumb/ui
- Set the key toolbar_visible

Now it should work.

I should have said something.
I enabled it under the recent Control Center interface ,,, now that the

gone) I don't remember how I had enabled it.

But it does work now. So I guess that is the end of it.

[Bug 84346] Re: [RESOLVED] Font rendering bug in Gnome Control Centre sidebar

2007-03-14 Thread Edward Ari Bichetero
I just checked the current control center (1:2.18.0-0ubuntu1) in feisty
and the bug is fixed/gone.

Probably due to some changes in libslab which provides the widget in
question.

It's a little puzzling why it appeared in the first place because I
perused the libslab code and it looked very straightforward.

Anyway, bug is gone. Mark as closed.

[Bug 92194] HAL is not built with libsmbios

2007-03-14 Thread Eugenia Loli-Queru
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

Your new Brightness applet that now ships with Gnome 2.18 does not work with
Ubuntu Feisty because you have built HAL without --with-dell-backlight
Please recompile HAL and include this build flag. I filed a bug at gnome.org,
but the maintainer told me that this is an ubuntu bug, because HAL is not built
correctly. This will mean that you will have to include the libsmbios package
on ubuntu by default. It's needed though, because without it the brightness
applet just doesn't work.

This used to work until 2 days ago. I tried to revert to gnome-keyring

Re: [Bug 81227] Re: Logout screen appears twice [Feisty]

On Wed, 2007-03-14 at 07:46 +, jens_acamedia wrote:
 why does
 lshal -m file
 not work

I wondered this myself, and have no explanation. I suppose - and this is
a guess - the lshal dev chose to directly manipulate streams when lshal
is invoked with --monitor (-m) to prevent lshal itself from disturbing
the devices it is monitoring

i cant capture it unless its piped to a file since my computer
shuts down when i press powerbutton. help appreciated..thanks

Try using script:

$ script halout
$ lshal -m

Then, whatever happens, halout should contain what you are looking for
(probably best not to write the script file - halout - to /tmp, it could
cleaned away reboot). For best results, you might try

script -f -c lshal -m halout

That puts the whole thing on one line, and the -f option ensures that
output is flushed to disk as it is produced.

[Bug 92209] Context menu is the only way to unmount media

2007-03-14 Thread Raphael Bosshard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

There is no way to unmount a media on Ubuntu that does not involve the
usage of the context menu. Since this is a very common operation, there
should be some ways to do this without using 'advanced techniques' like
the context menu.

User Experiences:
- Hans is a computer user without special computer training. He uses his
computer to read emails and browse websites. Sometimes he writes letters and
does spreadsheet calculations. Hans stores his most-used documents on an USB
stick. Whenever he wants to remove the USB stick, he simply pulls it out of the
USB port. This has led to data corruption in the past.

He hast not discovered the Eject commando in the context menu, since
he never uses the right mouse button. I had to show him, how to do it.

The Adobe Acrobat Reader can read the attachments.

Evince actually already has an 'Attachments' item greyed out in it's

not implemented.

I'm using Ubuntu Edgy with Evince 0.8.0 (from Feisty) backported to it.

Gaim is giving me the to connect to a gadu-gadu network; do you not get
that option at all?

[i.e. in Gaim's accounts-add account dialog, there is a 'protocol'
menu, which includes gadu-gagu. I've not tried actually setting up an
account yet. I'm using feisty herd 5 as well; it doesn't look like
there are any recent changes that would affect it]

Incidentally, there is at least one other gadu-gadu client in ubuntu
(ekg), but it is a console application

[Bug 92220] set order to auto start program

2007-03-14 Thread Skeletonix
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

Hello,
If I change in session manager order of starts application , Desktop starts
really long(still is visible splash screen over wallpaper and no application
can be start).
I try add the StarDict in to the session manager and change order from 50 to
55. This configuration has effect, that in splash is icon of StarDict (on
Edgy). If order is set up 50 icon is gone, but Desktop starts properly.
When is configuration done, only one way is to fix it ... delete
~/.gnome2/session . If order is set up back to 50, Desktop starts still long.

Thank you
