[Bug 99647] gnome-screensaver does not reliably allow login after suspend

2007-03-31 Thread Justin Husted
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Feisty Beta:

gnome-screensaver doesn't seem to reliably give me a login prompt after
sleep. I think the problem may be that it can't get input focus.

Example:
1. suspend laptop.
2. resume.
3. move mouse around, hit keys, etc.

Result:
This often works and gives me a password box I can type in, but sometimes the
screen is just black and won't respond to any input.

To work around this problem, I have to break to the console (ctrl-
alt-f1). Sometimes just returning to X11 without doing anything else
will cause the screensaver unlock to work.

I have a similar problem on Edgy on another machine, which has two
monitors: Without a suspend, just locking the screen, gnome-screensaver
often never allows me to log in again, and I'm forced to break to the
console and kill it. I don't know if the similar problem is actually
the same, but I thought I'd mention it as it might be easier to
reproduce. Note that I have these two monitors configured as two
screens (:0.0, :0.1) and not with xinerama.

Problems with gnome-screensaver unlock are severe, since they cause the
machine to appear completely locked up and dead. Most users would
consider the machine crashed, and probably power-cycle it.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
Date: Sat Mar 31 22:09:21 2007

[Bug 58963] Re: gnome-screensaver causes my laptop to hang on resume from memory-suspend

2007-03-31 Thread Justin Husted
You said it doesn't respond to ctrl-f1 -- does it respond to ctrl-alt-f1? This
breaks out of
X11 and should give you a console login. You can return with clt-f7.

[Bug 99626] deskbar-applet does not display folders in live search results (with either or both extension enabled)

2007-03-31 Thread anonym
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

Deskbar 2.16.0 on Edgy 6.10 with Gnome 2.16.1and Beagle 0.2.9.

Both the "files and folders search" and "files, folders, and places"
extensions are enabled, as well as "beagle live".

Once in a while it will find a folder, but this is much more the
exception than the rule.

I have been searching by using ALT+F3 to open deskbar-applet, then
entering the name of the folder and waiting for live results.

I have checked beagle-settings to ensure the directory is indexed and
have run a normal beagle-search, which was successful.

[Bug 28405] Re: Dapper (updated today) -- cupsys will not use a jetdirect port other than 9100

2007-03-31 Thread Miles Lane
This appears to be fixed in the current packages. gnome-print-manager
still creates the URL without the trailing slash, but it seems that CUPS
now does the right thing and successfully prints without it.

This is a regression due to the addition of 10-storage-policy.fdi, and
more specifically the requires_eject policy for usb devices. IMO this is
incorrect and should be removed.

[Bug 99598] [apport] gnome-volume-control crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-03-31 Thread Ian Phillips
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

Not really sure what I was doing. I double-clicked on the little
speaker icon, played with the volume settings (un-muted the capture
setting, to be specific), and then closed the window. A popup said
"this program is not responding". I said "wait". It went away, and
then the crash notifier appeared. I followed the instructions to submit
a crash report, and here I am!

I was playing with various Alsa/OSS settings
(System->Preferences->Sound) during all of this, trying to get my
microphone to work.

[Bug 73227] Re: [feisty] some partitions do not appear in Places menu

I'm having the same issue. (I think) My usb harddrive does not auto
mount as it did within Edgy. I don't even have the option to right click
the device to mount within computer:///. Hal shows the device connects,
but nothing beyond that happens. I need to manually mount the device to
access the data.

This feature worked great in Edgy, and to remove it would be taking a

Beryl can be chosen to be downloaded into ones system. After doing so,
I went in to "Synaptic" and noticed that the main component Beryl or
Themes and various library file had failed to be downloaded as well.
Without some of these files Beryl will not function at all. Although
one can adjust for them through synaptic, others (newbes) may not. I
don't wish to nick pick but I thoght that you might want to know.

That's a tricky bug, regenerating thumbnails again every time you browse

want to store them every time you open a directory would not be usuable.

[Bug 99038] Re: Redraw trouble

2007-03-31 Thread Tom Womack
I'm using Feisty, and the problem's still there in updates as of the
evening of 30th March.

If it's an X-server issue then it might be relevant that I'm using Intel
G965 graphics.

I wonder whether it's a termcap issue; is gnome-terminal supposed to emulate
TERM=xterm? I'm using, as you see from the screencap, whatever the default
font in Feisty's gnome-terminal is; the server which I'm connected to when I
have this trouble is a debian box with /etc/termcap
# Version 10.2.7
# $Date: 1999/03/10 15:53:04 $

[I don't know the command to figure out which package-name and version
that /etc/termcap came from; /etc/debian-version is 3.1 if that helps]

[Bug 99156] Re: gnome-panel killed

2007-03-31 Thread forger
Yes, it had problems with the gnome-session. I've tried to run sessions
properties.. it "thinks" a bit then nothing!
$ sudo gnome-session-properties
could not connect to the session manager

Tried reinstalling gnome-sessions gnome-panel and gnome-core, didn't
help. I assume it is a problem of beryl-manager, as it's one of the
unstable applications I have.

I've formatted the / root partition today, removed with --purge the
above named packages and reinstalled them, and I must say it hasn't
helped either. I'm on failsafe right now, trying to figure out what's
wrong.

[Bug 97201] apt-get package nautilus-dbgsym has unresolved dependencies

[Bug 99507] eps export broken (0.96.1-0ubuntu1)

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dia

Hi,

when exporting a diagram to eps (dia -e bla.eps bla.dia), it will result
in a eps-file, which I cannot view with ghostview. I'm not 100% sure, if
this is a bug in dia or in gs-esp, but the comment from fogman on bug
#75894 imply that it's a dia problem. Might however be a pango1.0
problem as well, at least from guessing after a short look into the code
(which I must admit left me pretty clueless).

[Bug 99493] Re: incoherent kyboard shortcuts in gedit

2007-03-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug. ctrl-pagedown,pageup are already used by the
text widget to go to the end and the start of a line so they can't be
used to switch tab, you can use ctrl-alt-pagedown,pageup for that. We
have a specification registred to work on the tab consistency between
applications though: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/tab-
consistency

Closing, that's not a bug

Using GIMP 2.2.13 in Ubuntu 7.04 (i386), and I am having this problem as
well, (only when I paint into the edge of the window, no other problems)
