[Bug 96669] Re: [feisty] deleting a song from the ipod only updates the database
I can also confirm this bug, on Feisty (Rhythmbox 0.10) as well was with the current SVN version of Rhythmbox. As Ben Hall mentions, an (annoying) workaround is to create a .Trash-$USER folder in the root of the mount location of the ipod. Then, Move to Trash will move the file to this location after removing it from the ipod database. Now, you are free to remove the files manually from this folder to actually free up the space (Empty trash in Nautilus doesn't work for me). I believe this bug stems from the fact that the ipod plugin impl_move_to_trash (rb-ipod-source.c) uses rhythmdb_entry_move_to_trash (rhythmdb.c) to remove the file. In rhythmdb_entry_move_to_trash, if no trash exists for the volume (ie trash == NULL) the function will return without doing anything. See the related Rhythmbox bug thread: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346434 There is a patch there which modifies the behavior so that when the trash cannot be created on the ipod, it instead unlinks the file (with a confirmation dialog). -- [feisty] deleting a song from the ipod only updates the database https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96669 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 112007] Glade 3 has rendering problems in menubar added to window
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: glade-3 The menu that you add to a window has rendering problems in glade-3 after reloading a project. I'm not sure if this is a general glade bug or is specific to the Ubuntu distribution. Basically, the last half of the last character on each item in the menu bar is cut off. No action that you can take seems to remedy the problem (mimimizing the window and restoring it to attempt to force a repaint for example does not fix the issue). How to reproduce: 1. Create a window in glade-3 and add a vbox with at least two rows 2. Add a menu to the top row. 3. Save the project and exit glade 4. Reopen glade and the project. The last character of each item in the menubar will be half cut off. This bug can be reproduced always. System: Latest update to Ubuntu Feisty Fawn on AMD 64, and latest version of glade-3 from apt-get. ** Affects: glade-3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Glade 3 has rendering problems in menubar added to window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112007 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for glade-3 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
Re: [Bug 92293] Re: gnome panel unresponsive after gimp
Sebastien, I updated to Feisty yesterday - so far, so good. I haven't vigorously tested, but all seems fine. When I upgraded, I went to the 64-bit version, whereas on Edgy I was using the 32-bit one. However, it has been a month or so since I last had the panel "hang" problem - I think some normal update must have fixed it for me. [Bug 107748] Evolution hangs temporarily, for periods of up to 5 or 10 minutes, since late in the Feisty development cycle
I have the exact same issue with Evolution 2.10.1 on Feisty hanging for a short while and then working for a short while again. On average it hangs for about 20 - 30 seconds, then it is fine for about the same amount of time, sometimes longer. I connect to a mail server via IMAP, my mail store on the email server is 296M, with no limit set to it. There is also no space issue on the mail server. When I disconnect from the mail server, no such issues occur, but the moment I do a reconnect, Evolution hangs, then comes right for awhile. I also tried storing a copy of my email locally for when I do need it offline, no such issues but the moment I connect the hanging appears. We are running on a 100Mb LAN with only one switch between me and the email server. It can definitely not be the LAN as some of the other users who have upgraded to Ubuntu 7.04 experience the same problems and we are all but one hop away from the server. The users that remained on V 6.10 have no such issues. We are 10 Ubuntu user of which 3 upgraded and only the 3 of us are having these hanging issues. Good. Now, insert a separator, select an entry below that separator, click up or down, it moves but the selection is no longer the right entry, The entry moves once but the selection moves twice. I cannot access any other terminal (Ctrl + Alt + F#), and Ctrl + Alt + Backspace does nothing... If I press the power button on my laptop it will eventually shutdown (displaying some garbled lines of graphics in the top of the screen before going down all the way). First mentioned in forumthread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=415034 I will attach an output from Alt + SysRq + T (at least the kernel responds...). [Bug 112094] evince hangs on certain ps file
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Evince hangs on one ps file: http://uosis.mif.vu.lt/~zemlys/stuff/EKS060523.ps It is a beamer slide. Gv shows this ps file with no problem. Evince just hangs, and starts gs process which gobbles all the memory available and virtually halts the system. By killing Steps to reproduce First way: 1. Start gnome-terminal and enter command killall gs without pressing enter 2. Click on the link above using Epiphany. It will automatically download the ps file and will start evince. 3. Watch your RAM usage go up like crazy 4. Switch to gnome-terminal and press enter. This will unfreeze your system 5. Issue killall evince in terminal to kill hanging evince window. Second way: 1. Download the source of tex file http://uosis.mif.vu.lt/~zemlys/stuff/EKS060523.tex 2. Make sure you have packages texlive, latex-beamer, littex, latex-ucs, lmodern installed. 3. Start gnome-terminal and cd to the catalog where you downloaded the file. 4. Issue commands: latex EKS060523.tex dvips EKS060523.dvi ps2pdf EKS060523.ps 5. Wait for gstopk to settle down, because it has to render new fonts. 6. Open file EKS060523.ps with evince, with the same precautions as in the first way. 7. Observe the same results. I suspect that this may be a bug in tex packages required to compile the file, but still evince should fail gracefully, when it cannot display the file. Also gv has no problems with this file, so evince really has some problem. ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- evince hangs on certain ps file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112094 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for evince in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Now I know how to handle this problem, but a lot of other people will simply think: "whoops! where are my profiles?" -- [regression, network-admin] looks for locations in root/.gnome2 instead of user/.gnome2 since update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/82511 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 25106] Re: evolution-exchange: unable to setup exchange account
This is a known bug in evolution. I can't seem to find the dissection of the bug now, fiddled with it roughly half a year ago. It also affects Entourage on MacOSX. Details here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909268. Anyways, I started working on a patch, but didn't finish. My problem was that I got past the cookie-auth, but then the connector-setup could not access the GAL server, since I'm not in the right network. I'm attaching the patch as far as I got, hoping it might be of some use to someone. There's a slight chance it actually works, if only you have access to the GAL server. ** Attachment added: "As far as I got on patching the problem." http://librarian.launchpad.net/7543700/evolution-data-server-exchange_cookie_auth.patch -- evolution-exchange: unable to setup exchange account https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/25106 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 57923] Re: Opening firefox by clicking on links in thunderbird breaks https
I had the same problem as described here. I couldn't enter webpages starting with https. Now I found the reason for this strange behaviour: In my firefox folder (/usr/lib/firefox) was an old version of libnss3.so (that of firefox 1.0.7). So I copied libnss3.so from /usr/lib to the firefox folder (don't forget to make it executable) and now my firefox is working correctly again.
