I've noticed this behavior on my Feisty 7.04 install. [Bug 96054] Re: Mouse (synaptics touchpad) locks when using "switch user"
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 68370 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/68370 I have the same problem with a Dell D610 Latitude. The Dell has a built in touchpad and a nipple or Trackpoint both with their own buttons. I am able to direct the mouse with the nipple under the 2nd user but this is largely useless as the buttons on don't work. It could be that the buttons are not actualy implemented and so are using the same input as the touchpad. [Bug 113185] copy command hang on invalid file name
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I get the following message when I copy a file in which name there is the Euro symbol (€). Here is the message translated from French: file not found while copying "smb://g5/D2079_.mht". The exact name finish with " ...contre les 79€.mht". The Euro symbol is replaced by underscore . I confirm also there is no "20" in front of "79" in the real name. The message in itself is not the problem (perhaps I miss a parameter to make nautilus understanding fat32, ok). The problem is that nautilus somewhat "hang". Click on Ignore, cancel or try again erase the message, but the dialog box of the copy command stay and nothing is copied. You need to close all nautilus windows to kill the copy. I got the message while copying a whole directory in which there is the file. Then, when I list the files in the repertory, nautilus list the file with " ...contre les 79_.mht" (without "20", with underscore). I can select the file in the list. but if I right click on the name (to choose a copy command), the file name disappear ! file is currently on a FAT32 disk (I guess) under windows 95. I am running Ubuntu 7.04 for AMD64. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- copy command hang on invalid file name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113185 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 113181] Resizing a eog window causes _NET_WM_MOVERESIZE window manager warnings
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: eog Description of the problem: Often when a eog window is resized a window manager warning is logged in ~/.xsession-errors . Steps to reproduce: 1. Start a gnome-terminal . 2. Type tail -f ~/.xsession-errors . 3. Press Alt-F2 and type eog . 4. Go to the bottom right hand corner of the "Eye of GNOME" window, click and hold on the grippy then drag the window as small as it will go. 5. Click once on the grippy at the bottom right hand corner of the "Eye of GNOME" window. Expected result: No extra messages to appear in ~/.xsession-errors . Actual result: Output like the following is added: Window manager warning: Received a _NET_WM_MOVERESIZE message for 0x3800020 (Eye of GNO); these messages lack timestamps and therefore suck. [Bug 109579] Re: thumbnail problems with relative soft-links
I can't get thumbnails in symlinked directories either. "/home/tom/Desktop/2007-05/" is a symlink pointing to "/home/tom/pictures/photos_archive/2007-05/". If I open "~/Desktop/2007-05/" in Nautilus, and then double-click one of the photos to open it with gthumb, then go to the "browser" view, no thumbnails appear. If, on the other hand, I go to "/home/tom/pictures/photos_archive/2007-05/" in gthumb, all the thumbnails show up. I don't know whether this is a problem with gthumb or gnomevfs, as it could be to do with an error in detecting whether or not the directory in question is a network share. I have attached the output I get from gthumb when using "~/Desktop/2007-05/". I get no output at all when I use "~/pictures/photos_archive/2007-05/". Changing the thumbnail setting in Nautilus to allow viewing thumbnails on network shares does not solve the problem. I did not get this problem in Edgy. ** Attachment added: "gthumb_output.txt" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7578611/gthumb_output.txt -- thumbnail problems with relative soft-links https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109579 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gthumb in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 66379] Re: evince does not enable print
@Typhos Looking at you printingbuginfo.txt I see you have no PPD (printer driver) installed, I assume you have the Lexmark T520. According to the Lexmark website this printer supports the following languages: PostScript Level 3 and PCL6. PostScript printers only need a printer specific PPD file to make them work. Please check the driver CD-ROM that came with your printer for PPD files. PPD files are just text files that can be used on both Windows and Linux. To install your printer with this PPD click System -> Administration -> Printers, add new printer, select the connection, click "Install Driver". If you can't find a PPD file for your printer you should still be able to use the generic PostScript driver or one of the PCL6 drivers. [Bug 113092] nautilus in feisty can't open http:// URI which affects service-discovery-applet
Public bug reported: Using up-to-date feisty.I am not sure if this is either a bug, regression or removed feature. I am also not sure whether this is a nautilus, gnome-vfs or service-discovery-applet problem. I only discovered this when using service-discovery-applet on my laptop to open web sites published on my home server. Clicking on the Zeroconf published web site from the service-discovery-applet brings up this message: "Couldn't display http://www.recovermypc.co.uk:80/. The location is not a folder." I am almost certain that this function worked perfectly in edgy and that when you clicked on the website in the discovery applet it opened the page in a new tab in firefox. Other services advertised by the Zeroconf service applet work fine, eg. ssh, vnc etc. I get the impression that nautilus should be able to handle http:// URIs I have checked that libgnomevfs2-extra is installed which supplies the libhttp.so module. Also, examining the nautilus service-discovery-applet plugin in /usr/share/service-discovery-applet/plugins/nautilus.py shows that nautilus should be able to open http, https, ftp, ftps, sftp, dav and davs URIs. Opening a nautilus window, pressing + L to open a location and typing http://www.domainname.co.uk also brings up the same error about the location not being a folder. The same happens if I run nautilus in a terminal window and also if I use 'File'->'Connect to Server' and then select a custom location (HTTP is not listed). As a quick fix I changed /usr/share/service-discovery-applet/nautilus.py to run gnome-open instead of nautilus which works for _http._tcp Zeroconf connections but I have no idea if it works for the other protocols listed in the nautilus.py file. Apologies if this bug is filed under the wrong package. ** Affects: gnome-vfs2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- nautilus in feisty can't open http:// URI which affects service-discovery-applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-vfs2 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 113067] gdm hangs before login
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm I upgraded to Feisty from a clean Edgy install on an HP Compaq nx9030 laptop, and when I boot up it now goes through the first stages fine, but hangs before login, shortly after the background appears, with a timer wheel cursor displaying. Switching to another terminal allows me to log in and perform standard command line operations, although not to start X since that is already running. Deleting the /etc/init.d/gdm script caused the system to go straight to the command line prompt, and starting X manually from there works fine with full desktop functionality (bar features such as user switching which are presumably gdm dependent). Copying the gdm script over from another machine running Edgy (in case that was the source of the problem) produced the same hang as with the original script. Uninstalling and reinstalling the gdm and xserver-xorg packages, running dpkg-reconfigure and dpkg --configure -a, and switching to an earlier kernel all had no effect. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- gdm hangs before login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113067 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
