I can verify this on 7.04 as well. Without doing anything except letting my computer go go to the "Molecule" screen saver and lockup, then hard restart, I was able to see the Molecule screen saver and change it to something else. [Bug 91807] Re: evolution per-contact crypto-sign preference
Just to confirm what Peter Miller wrote. I used Thunderbird/Enigmail and the encryption integration was a charm. I liked the individual encryption-settings for each contact. As I only use GnuPG, the only thing I need is a checkbox, saying: "Use encryption if key is available" in the settings for evolution then I didn't have to activate it any time I want to sent an encrypted message. This would be even more user-friendly than the Thunderbird/Enigmail solution, because if I have a public key from someone, I normally want to use it - and if I don't want, then I have to disable encryption mail by mail OR delete the key with seahorse (for individual setting) OR uncheck the discribed checkbox (as a default value). I confirm this too A single click does nothing. A single click every 5 or more seconds does nothing. A triple click always works with a single click to close. When lowering volume with the general volume bar in gnome-volume- manager, the volume is lowered for the foreground speakers of my computer but not for the speaker under the laptop. So the sound isn't lowered but just distorted. When using external speakers plugged into the speaker port, the volume isn't lowering at all with the general volume bar. The only universal way to mute sound correctly is the PCM bar.. [Bug 112735] Re: Can't change gnome session properties
Well, after some weeks with Feisty Fawn, I'm sad to see that many important things just don't work, at least in my box. Many of the problems I have are related to the Gnome configuration modules. For example, in the Session manager (>System>Preferences>Session) I can't add apps to be automatically started when I turn on the machine. Nor remove the applications already listed. [Actually, the Session app let me include or remove but when I restart the system everything comes back to the original state. And yes, I'd already tried to save the session.] The Language support application, in turn, let me change the default language of the system, but when I restart the machine, guess what... everything is exactly as before. Am I the only one who is having these annoying problems with Feisty Fawn? My Synaptic is with all the repositories activated and I'm waiting everyday for an update that could solve all these snags. -- Can't change gnome session properties https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112735 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-session in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 113857] Trash Panel Applet should behave more consistent and sane
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets trash applet should act more like other applets or icons that appear in notification area. for example: left-click trash applet --> nautilus window for ~/.Trash opens again left-click trash applet --> the nautilus window should close. why: at current state, left-clicking the panel icon just opens as much nautilus windows as you left-click it. this should not happen, since there is no sane reason for more than one of such window. IF a user needs more than one .Trash window, he/she can right-click the panel icon and open as much windows as he/she needs anyways. ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Trash Panel Applet should behave more consistent and sane https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113857 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-applets in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I am seeing this same problem in Feisty. To reproduce: To reproduce: Ubuntu menu->Places->Network->Windows Network->the alanos->NATHANS where "the alanos" is my smb workgroup (though I usually type it in all upper case, nautilaus is showing it in lower case) and "NATHANS" is the name of an XP Home PC. Launching NATHANS gives this error. "Cannot open NATHANS "The filename "NATHANS" indicates that this file is of type "desktop configuration file". The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type "x-directory/smb-share". If you open this file, the file might present a security risk to your system. "Do not open the file unless you created the file yourself, or received the file from a trusted source. To open the file, rename the file to the correct extension for "x-directory/smb-share", then open the file normally. Alternatively, use the Open With menu to choose a specific application for the file." Right-clicking on the NATHANS icon and choosing "Connect to this server" adds a similar NATHANS icon to my desktop. Launching that icon results in the same error. Looking at the properties of the icon: Basic tab: Name: NATHANS Type: x-directory/smb-share Contents: unreadable Location: smb://the%20alanos Permissions tab: The permissions of "NATHANS" could not be determined. More data points: I am not able to replicate this by creating a new user, starting Evolution, adding drivemount and keyboard applets, logging out and back in again. Everything works fine. [Bug 76011] Re: Keyboard Indicator applet does not show correct text after a second login
Hi, I have exactly the same problem, on an installation of Feisty upgraded from Edgy, upgraded from Dapper. The keyboard-indicator was showing 'us' instead of 'USA' and I got the dialog box when trying to open keyboard-properties. If I stop evolution-data-server and all other evolution crap before I log out and log back in, the problem goes away. In fact, it seems that this also affects my ability to use the drivemount-applet. I tried about 5 times add it to the panel without any success, but then after killing Evolution and logging out and back in, I had 5 drivemount applets waiting for me! And, it wasn't detecting my portable music player properly in Rhythmbox, but now it is. IMHO Evolution should be an optional part of the Ubuntu desktop. It's not as functional an e-mail client as Thunderbird, and Google Calendars is a lot more useful as a calendar. [Bug 113790] Encrypted USB is owned by root
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager I created encrypted USB drive, in fact, I have USB drive woth three partitions, and one partition is encrypted. I created it with command: sudo luksformat -t reiserfs /dev/sdc3 (you need the following modules loaded: dm-crypt, dm-mod, aes, sha256). When I remove USB key and plug it in again, I get gnome password dialog. I enter password and USB is mounted. But the new USB crypto disk is owned by root, so normal user can not write on it. This is not the case with ordinary, non-encrypted USB partitions. [Bug 113788] Gimp quits when "save as" dialog opens
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp More and more often it happens that Gimp just closes itself (losing the work done) when using the "save as" function. Usually, the dialog appears, and before it builds the list of subfolders in the current folder, the hard disk starts scratching for a while and Gimp quits. Sometimes, the dialog doesn't even appear (Gimp quits as soon as the "save as" option has been selected in the menu). On one occasion, Gimp closed itself just by opening the context menu of a file "open with The Gimp". I have no crash report, it just quits. Don't know if it is random behaviour or triggered by something. It seems to happen after working on several pictures, copying/pasting lots of stuff. Maybe a memory leak problem ? [Bug 113783] [apport] gnome-theme-manager crashed with SIGSEGV
Public bug reported: This was one of many similar problems. Firefox would not load webpages, Openoffice would quit immediately after showing splash screen. Most control panel apps would exit immediately. Logout dialog would not load, until after evolution was loaded. Widgets behaving strangely in some programs (e.g. scrollbars displaying incorrectly). KDE apps seemed to load and work, but gnome-terminal would segfault right away. Evolution and nautilus appeared mostly OK. you can easier do it by dropping the line: Option "DPMS" from your xorg.conf file to fix it right is actually quite tricky since xorg overrides the screensaver here, so even though setting a proper value for it wont help unless we remove that default line ... but ... removing it will then cause powermanagement to fail on login manager screens or on window managers that have no power manager at all. -- screen goes blank even though screensaver and power management are turned off https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/46575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
