Re: [Bug 106308] Re: All 'windows' are missing their 'frames and the panel in general is not working correctly
In addition I was pretty certain I had provided everything I could and had been asked for, on this problem, is there something missing? or more that I can look for? If so let me know... Also... some additional info. I have switched over to KDE for now and what I have discovered is that everything works perfect with the dual screen setup. In Gnome the second desktop isn't TOTALLY a separate desktop, ie the 'taskbar' only really works on the main screen; on the second screen the taskbar is there, and you can see the various proggys along it, but proggys that 'minimize to the taskbar' don't show up. I have tried various settings changes to try and get it to work right, to no avail. The point I am trying to make is that it would seem that the nvidia-glx driver, etc, and X itself must be ok and it is definitely a problem with Gnome; I guess it would be the Gnome Panel? As I was saying, the symptoms have worsened; any click on the frame on any window on the second screen, to do _ANYTHING_ now, I might add, causes both screens to cycle through each desktop and ultimately the panel to crash. (When it is done cycling and Panel comes back up, it is back on the desktop that I started with). This goes for right clicking on any proggy on the _taskbar_ on the second screen now, as well. (This doesn't happen with anything on the main screen.) Apport no longer tries to report it, and I am not sure why. (Actually apport doesn't try to report any crash in Gnome anymore, regardless of what it is. I guess I may need to file a separate report on that.) When I brought up KDE, though, apport did come up and try to report the Gnome crashes, so I'm not sure what the difference is, other then Gnome. The bottom line here, is that I am still talking about the original bug, but it seems it has gotten worse. My preference IS Gnome, and I hope these issues can be figured out. Any help I can provide please let me know. Bill Bill wrote: > It's still doing the same thing, except it's gotten worse. [Bug 115969] Re: drag to queue causes crash
Further research suggests that the problem is not caused by the act of dragging to file to the play queue. Rather, after doing that, I then attempted to move the newly added item, by dragging it upwards, to a higher position in the queue. On releasing the mouse button, all the existing queue items disappear and are replaced by the tracks from yesterday. [Bug 110243] Re: Evolution import calendar from Outlook goes into Contacts
Sorry its taken me a while to get back to you. I've created a 1 entry calendar on Outlook which effectively is still created as a contact in Evolution. I've attached my Outlook .csv file. [Bug 43589] Re: [totem-gstreamer] wont play vcd for "unknown reason"
Hi all, I'm having the same problem also in Debian (sid/unstable) here in my IBM Thinkpad T43. I thought it was a kernel issue, since it happened sometime after I upgrade to a certain kernel version (sorry, can't remember the exact version, about 1 year ago). After searching for more details last weekend, I found out that this may be a GNOME issue. Not really sure 'though. But I do able to make VCD play again by doing this before playing: /etc/init.d/dbus stop To play the VCD in totem (-xine) run this: totem vcd:// (since without dbus, totem seems to failed to get the Play button to work, so we need to tell totem directly) To play with xine or gxine is the same (xine vcd:// or gxine vcd://) but (g)xine has VCD selection from the menu, so you should be able to start it directly without any parameter. I think this info should answer Question #1624, too. Now, it'd be really great if someone could just fix this issue correctly :-) Although I haven't found out why we cannot copy .dat files directly from file browser (nautilus) and VCD seems to always failed automounted in my machine here. Things use to worked just fine long time ago. ** Tags added: dbus gnome totem-xine vcd -- [totem-gstreamer] wont play vcd for "unknown reason" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/43589 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 115844] Re: Problems with international characters in subject when sending to Microsoft Outlook
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 15387 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/15387 I'm not sure this is a duplicate of #15387. The problem reported there is just because of the encoding of one character. This is about how evolution encodes the whole subject when there is an international character. Evolution just encodes the international character while other email clients encode the whole subject line or from the first word where there is an international character on. At the same time, in the other email, the problem is how Evolution shows the subject, here is how Evolution generates the subject. -- Problems with international characters in subject when sending to Microsoft Outlook https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115844 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
Re: [Bug 115761] Re: menu bar are not on the side of the screen on logout
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 39856 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/39856 Hello Danny, The first thing you have to know is that I don't use desktop effects (beryl, compiz or the one which is in the menu of ubuntu : system, pref, desktop effects). Each time this bug happens, it was without any desktop effects activated. Is your Ubuntu a fresh 7.04 install, or an upgrade? Did you carry over a profile (/home directory) from a previous installation? I always install GNU/Linux "freshly", and don't do any OS upgrade. Each time this bug happens, it was a fresh install with a new user and a new /home created during install process (and it just happens for the first created user). I've too noticed that it happens more often when the menu bar is not extended and just after the screen resolution is increased. Again, when it happened for the first time, it was just after a screen resolution increase (via syst, pref, screen resolution). The first thing I've done is Ctrl + Alt + Backspace (Gnome was out of control), then Ctrl + Alt + F1 (console), login with first user parameters (username and password) and delete .gconf, .gconfd, .nautilus and .metacity in the /home of the first user and then, everything was ok when login to Gnome desktop until I anew reduce and increase the screen resolution. Okay, I have created a new user via "Users and Groups" and followed your steps, excepted for desktop effects enabled. I'm sorry, I am shy of activating desktop effects. So, nothing happens, everything is ok (User : test, /home/test, uid and gid = 1001). I can confirm this happens. Basically, when Compiz (Desktop Effects) is on, the gnome-screenshot dialog box is still fading away when the screenshot is taken. [Bug 113536] Re: gnome-keyring-manager locked at boot
Hello!!! My Ubuntu version is Feisty recently installed (I had Kubuntu before, but a little buggyI decided to "clean" my hard-disk and installed Ubuntu Feisty) Nothing about it in .xsession-errors (this file is very little, probably 15 lines or less...) Now I can't make the screenshot of the dialog because I'm at home and I have no wireless connections available (I don't know any Wep key of any wireless network surrounding my home...), but I will try to post a screenshot from my office when I get to it...ok??? When I suspend computer there is no strange behaviour, after suspend the keyring-manager is asked from network-manager application to provide the desired WEP key, and there is no problem. The problem becomes when I boot my computer and network-manager finds that wireless network: it asks keyring-manager for the WEP key, keyring-manager asks me the key to unlock the default session, but it acts like if my password was bad... I have to press Deny because Accept is rejected, and after that, the wireless network configuration dialog appears and I have to enter the WEP key again... Tomorrow I will try to post a screenshot...
