[Bug 108616] Re: Some keys don't work in gedit with France keyboard layout
The output of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd is : layouts = [fr oss,fr,us,epo] model = options = [grp grp:ctrls_toggle] overrideSettings = true Is it normal that the keyboard model fr oss has a tabulation in its name? (ASCII character 0x09, I checked with hd) That seems weird to me. I played with the settings and I discovered than when I check the box Both Alt keys together change group. then the problem disappears! [Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs
I disagree, this bug renders Ubuntu/Gnome useless in situations when working with other workstations in a domain. Having a central file server for user and group data is very common, like pam-mounting a users home when logging in or just using a common cifs share for a group of workers. From: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance High - Has a severe impact on a small portion of Ubuntu users In my opinion, being unable to save textfiles is a severe impact, this bug should be marked as high. [Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs
in line 670, gedit tries to rename the file to a backup file... like moving testfile to testfile~ if (rename (saver-priv-local_path, backup_filename) != 0) I checked local_path and backup_filename, they are correct. I also wrote a small test application using rename() from stdio.h and renamed the same files on the mounted cifs filesystem, which works. [Bug 116929] cannot adjust headset volume with keyboard or headset
You have been subscribed to a public bug: The controls on my headset and keyboard control some sort of volume dial (a graphic pops up for this) and both control the volume that comes out of the speakers (my monitor speakers) but it does not affect the volume coming out of my headset (which is connected in one of the USB ports). Under Volume Control = Change Device to Headset I can manually change the volume setting of my headset and this succesfully changes the sound level I hear with the headeset. Conversely, when I check the volume level in Volume Control (the window you get when you right-click on the sound icon on the top right of the screen) I can see that this goes up in down along with adjusting volume with the keyboard/headset-controls but when I change device to my headset, the volume bar for this does not go up or down when I use the keyboard or headset controls for adjusting volume. In System=Preferences=Sound (which is the same as gnome-sound-properties) the top-level menu options are Devices, Sounds and System Beep. At the bottom of the Devices window it says, Select the device and tracks to control with the keyboard. Use the Shift and Control keys to select multiple tracks if required. I select Bass, Treble PCM for my Plantronics Headset, but again, this does not make a difference. To do these test I'm running Skype and both Skype and System-Preferences-Sound are set to ALSA. Also note that when playing videos on YouTube the audio is only coming out of my monitor speakers and not my headset (which is what I would like) and when I'm using Skype the audio is set to only come out the headset and not my monitor speakers (again, this is my preferred setting). [Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs
Ok, this is the problem: Gedit opens a file, moves the original file to a backup file while keeping the file open, and finally deletes the backup file if you choose not to keep backups. The rename method sets errno = ETXTBSY, so moving the original file fails. I don't think moving/deleting open files on purpose is a good idea, although it works for most linux file systems. But its definitely a bad idea for network file systems like sshfs and cifs, which of course fails. -- gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/34813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

If you are using totem-xine install totem-xine-dbgsym, if you are using totem-gstreamer install totem-gstreamer-dbgsym. -add the notes to your video file -make sure gdb is installed Run the backtrace in a terminal : Run gdb totem 21 | tee gdb-totem.txt Then in the prompt write (the prompt as (gdb) in front) : handle SIG33 pass nostop noprintthen press enter set pagination 0 then press enter run /path/to/your/file/MegastarFrance.wmv Then totem should appear and crash.
