[Bug 120392] Re: CAnnot delete Calendars in Evolution 2.10
I saw the same behavior, came here to report it, and found this and similar bugs. I had created calendars I could not delete. However, I could not reproduce it until I deleted the calendar manually (by going into the .evolution/calendar/local directory and deleting the directory containing the calendar). Once I did that, I could not delete the calendar. The events did go away on the next start of evolution, and I could then delete the calendar. Starting manually or with a gui entry made no difference. This problem is triggered by the lack of good documentation for evolution. The docs say what each button does, but that is not good documentation, that is a cop-out. Good documentation describes how a program is used. The problem I had leading up to this was that I thought (and this makes total sense to me as a 20+-year unix user) that I could transport the .evolution directory from one machine to another. This lost most of my calendar entries. I did not know about going into my .evolution and reading the files as ICAL files, because I did not know anything about how evolution stores its data, and this is hidden from the user in the docs. This common problem of how to move calendars from one machine to another should be covered prominently in the docs. Also, when I converted from FC3 to Ubuntu 7.04, the Personal tasks survived but the Work tasks did not. This may have to do with FC using an FQDN and Ubuntu using just the hostname without the domain as the hostname. I see that the work tasks are there under the FQDN in the .evolution directory, but they have become separated from the application. This behavior should be fixed somehow. Perhaps it should look for calendars in its directory tree that it doesn't know about and ask the user to import them. Now that I know about importing calendars, it seems simple to do manually, but it has been months since I lost my work tasks and I only now learned about what I should have done. So, I'm confirming this bug: start evolution make a calendar add a task delete the file containing the task try to delete the calendar it won't let you quit restart the task is done and you can delete the calendar. Suggestions: 1. make it so it can delete the calendar in this case. 2. document how to move calendars from one machine to another in a prominent place. Ditto what happens if machine names change. --jh-- ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed -- CAnnot delete Calendars in Evolution 2.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120392 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 57055] Cannot Burn CD/DVD on HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi, I'm using a Gateway MX3414 Laptop which features a HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N Drive. Installation of Ubuntu works fine. Mounting of CD/DVD's with data already on them also works completely. When I place a blank disc in the drive, Ubuntu recognizes that the disk is blank and pops up a dialog box asking me if I'd like to burn a data or audio disk, as it is supposed to. However, about 1 second later, the system normally forgets that the disk is there. The icon of the blank disk disappears from the desktop, and the dialog box disappears if it has not been closed. Any attempts to access the disk fail, including attempting to write to it anyway. I say normally above because, on rare occasion, the disk does not disappear after about a second, and I can burn data or audio to it as would be expected. I'm not sure of what logs I should be checking or commands I should be running to give any useful output. ** Affects: nautilus-cd-burner (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- Cannot Burn CD/DVD on HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/57055 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 117896] Re: Loses e-mails when moving accross IMAP folders
Here is more info: I've changed the IMAP server to Dovecot, and the exact same problem occurs, no better, no worst. I started Evolution with CAMEL_DEBUG=1, and when it occurs, I get the following error message: (evolution-2.10:8724): camel-WARNING **: camel_exception_get_id calledwith NULL parameter. (evolution-2.10:8724): camel-imap-provider-CRITICAL **:imap_command_start: assertion `store-ostream!=NULL' failed Here, we just sent a mail, and we lost the copy which was supposed to be in the Sent folder (it was never filed). Using Wireshark on the workstation, we could then see that no trafic was gone to the server (using IMAP protocol) when the problem occurs, while we could see connections when it does not fail to copy to Sent. Please do not hesitate to ask for more information. [Bug 120220] Re: Connect to server have minimal dialogues - Needs to communicate more
** Description changed: Binary package hint: nautilus After entering the correct information in Places Connect to Server... and clicking Connect, there is no notification of what Connect to Server is doing. This appears in Dapper (6.06.1), Edgy (6.10), Feisty (7.04) and Gusty (7.10) [2007-06-13] - 4.10, 5.04 and 5.10 not tested. * If I enter in a domain that is incorrect or times-out, nothing appears as a dialogue - an icon does - sometimes - appear on the desktop * If I have conflicting .ssh/known_hosts keys, no dialogue appears to tell me that there is a problem. Both of these problems have the correct error output when using ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Most users aren't aware of how to use the terminal and therefore can't figure out what is wrong with their connection. How to repeat: 1) Enter in an incorrect domain, user, port for ssh in 'Connect to Server', then click 'Connect' - nothing appears as the cause of the problem BUT an icon appears on the desktop - not helpful 2) Connect to a second computer using ssh (on the command-line or otherwise). Disconnect and then write new rsa/dsa keys and then connect again. If you use Connect to Server... which reads the file .ssh/known_hosts, Connect to Server... will not tell you that there are conflicting keys in that file. Connect to Server... should offer a solution by deleting that entry in the file, or deleting the file altogether. At a minimum, a dialogue should appear to make the user aware there is a problem. I have even had a problem on my recently upgrade Feisty (7.04) machine that when I try Connect to Server, nothing appears in dialogue format (of course), but also no icon appears on the desktop. killall nautilus doesn't fix the problem, but a reboot does. This is when I am greeted with multiple versions of a shortcut to my server that I entered. (ie: server, server (1), server (2), etc.) I'm not sure what files are involved in this bug, but I am willing and still able to post any files that you request. [Bug 120826] totem crashs at startup
You have been subscribed to a public bug: totem crashs at the startup with the following error message (terminal output) [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ totem The program 'totem' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 42 error_code 8 request_code 141 minor_code 14) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) ** Affects: totem (upstream) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- totem crashs at startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120826 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 121354] No Master Volume in Ubuntu?
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media I currently have a Logitech Z-640 5.1 channel speaker set connected to my the HD Audio outputs on my Ubuntu 7.04 tower. It seems to me that there is no MASTER volume for the sound device. Everything seems to work just fine for the sound. No crackling, no lack of sound, and everything sounds great. Only problem is that when I press the up down buttons to control my volume on my keyboard, ONLY the Front channel is affected. The remaining channels, Rear, Center, and LFE remain turned all the way up. In every other OS I have used, the Front channel is seperate from the master volume. When you press the vol. up and vol. down buttons, the master volume will move up and down and thus, change the volume for all of the channels available to play sound. This is not a driver issue because my hardware is working fine. Honestly, I never really noticed the issue until I connected my 5.1 setup. ** Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- No Master Volume in Ubuntu? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121354 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-media in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 121358] rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I have a collection generated with rhythmbox in feisty and it works properly. I've upgraded to gutsy and now when I try to play a file, rhythmbox puts an red icon near the file instead of playing it. When I double click the icon, a windows apears saying: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed. Please file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GStreamer. That window has a close button only. I tried to play some other files and then rhythmbox crashed. Reopened rhythmbox and the same thing happens but rhythmbox doesn't crash while trying to play files.
