[Bug 127095] Re: Screen Saver Issues

2007-08-01 Thread Paul Dufresne
By 'and made it on gnome-screensaver package' I was only saying that *I* had
associated your bug report with
the package gnome-screensave. (Maybe I don't use the best formulation, I am a
french native speaker, I could say assign
to package, but we generally use this for assigning a person to a bug report,
so I hesitate to use same word for package relation).

Please don't reply directly to the email, but open the link in it in your web
program, and answer there.
Here the link:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/127095 it should be added automatically at the
end of the email you are reading.

Have you tried to look for files in /var/crash like I requested earlier?

[Bug 129866] Evolution doesn't fully uninstall it's packages

2007-08-01 Thread Allan MacKinnon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

PLEASE READ THIS THREAD FIRST TO FULLY UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3119577#post3119577

Also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/129849 may
help a tad.

1) Tried removing Evolution:

apt-get --purge remove evolution
apt-get autoremove

I was only able to remove

evolution
evolution-exchange
evolution-plugins
libexchange-storage1.2-3

I removed the following packages manually by searching for 'evolution'
in Synaptic

evolution-common
evolution-data-server
evolution-data-server-common
evolution-webcal
openoffice.org-evolution

I NEVER got prompts saying that any of these packages were depends of
other packages, therefore making them orphans.

I ran deborphan and found 2 more:

libegroupwise1.2-13
libedata-cal1.2-6

I WAS NOT PROMPTED ON THEIR REMOVAL EITHER!

Since no warning prompts were received, I believe they were orphaned and
should have been autoremoved when I did my 'apt-get autoremove' BUT THEY
WERE NOT.

I believe this means there are errors in listing the dependencies of
several packages' control files.

-

I tried reinstalling evolution:

apt-get install evolution

7 new packages are installed:

evolution
evolution-common
evolution-data-server
evolution-data-server-common
libedata-cal1.2-6
libegroupwise1.2-13
libexchange-storage1.2-3

I noticed that many of these packages installed were removed/autoremoved
when uninstalled.

As for the other packages:

openoffice.org-evolution (unessential OOo plugin)
evolution-webcal (not sure what this does...)
evolution-exchange (listed as a suggest)
evolution-plugins (listed as a recommend)

I can see why they were left out of the vanilla evolution install (non-
essential).

So why is evolution good on installing it's depends, but fails to remove
them with 'apt-get autoremove' on the uninstall? Nothing else depends
on them (unless something DOES and was left out of the package's list of
depends in its control file).

[Bug 127615] window decorations in odd places when effects are off

2007-08-01 Thread Matthew Nuzum
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I turn off desktop effects on a clean, fresh install of Gutsy Tribe
3, The window chrome is in odd places. In the attached screenshot,
you'll see that on large windows, the window decorations starts to the
left a good bit, and ends far from the right. However, on smaller
windows, you may not be able to see the left decoration because it is
too far over. Consequently, you won't be able to see the right
decorations either.

[Bug 129850] Major CD mount issue - affects Nautilus!

2007-08-01 Thread Allan MacKinnon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Drive is a HP CD-Writer Plus 8290 (CD-R/RW)

I have been having problems burning media on my drive.

I insert media, media goes in and is mounted. I try to burn an iso but
the burning program (I have used Nautilus CD/DVD Writer, Brasero and
GnomeBaker) doesn't recognize that the media is inserted and the disk is
eventually ejected.

If I try and view 'Properties' on the desktop's CDROM mount icon it
pooches Nautilus. All my desktop icons vanish and it gets sluggish.

Little help?

EDIT

The Feisty LiveCD works fine enough to install the OS. The problem seems
to be with blank media.

2007-08-01 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Thank you for reporting this, and trying to help make Ubuntu better.
However, this is the expected behaviour of "apt-get remove". "apt-get
autoremove" should remove packages that were installed as dependencies
and are now no longer needed.

Furthermore, I'm a little surprised that removing evolution-data-server
didn't break something. A number of Gnome apps store stuff there.

[Bug 129849] Evolution doesn't fully uninstall all dependent packages

2007-08-01 Thread Allan MacKinnon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

On Gutsy Tribe3

I uninstalled Evolution in terminal using apt-get. The packages it
removed were:

evolution
evolution-exchange
evolution-plugins
libexchange-storage1.2-3

However, it failed to remove:

evolution-common
evolution-data-server
evolution-data-server-common
evolution-webcal
openoffice.org-evolution

With Evolution removed, I fail to see the point of leaving these
packages behind since they have no other packages depending on them (as
demonstrated when I removed them).

EDIT

I ran deborphan and found 2 more packages laying by themselves after the
removal of the above packages:

libegroupwise1.2-13
libedata-cal1.2-6

Uninstalling evolution should nix them all but that isn't the case. Fix?

[Bug 36922] Re: No delay on tooltips

2007-08-01 Thread Brian J. Murrell
Now in latest gutsy, tooltips take too long to pop up. I count about 2
seconds from mouseover. May not seem like a big deal but move from item
to item and you take 2 seconds on each just to get a tooltip.

This should be user configurable in fact. I can see how there will
never be a value that keeps everyone happy.

[Bug 129594] Re: undefined symbol: g_once_init_enter_impl

2007-08-01 Thread BotLobsta
Yes, I did compile my own libglib and install it into /usr/local/lib but
that was over a year ago when I was trying to get my libmtp to work. I
would have thought that upgrades of that package would overwrite those,
but I guess not.

[Bug 129697] Re: Crash in Chess after program start

2007-08-01 Thread Wouter Stomp
Bug is not fixed as it still occurs for me.

I didn't mean to file it upstream by the way. it was bug-buddy that
popped up, I just followed the indicated steps and I assumed it was
going to be send to launchpad instead of straight to gnome's bugzilla.
If this should not happen then that is a bug in gnome-bug-buddy.

I don't understand why you'd want to use MP3 anyway, it's vastly
inferior to Vorbis. The only reason I can think of is some kind of
hardware player.

[Bug 129805] Bug in passing options to oggenc

2007-08-01 Thread monsieur_jambon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

I tried to use this preset (created with gnome-audio-profiles-
properties):

audio/x-raw-float,rate=44100,channels=2 ! vorbisenc name=enc quality=10
! oggmux

I noticed that the size of the produced file didn't change when changing the
quality of the encoding.
I launched sound-juicer through a console an it says:

(sound-juicer:7146): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: value "10,00" of type
`gfloat' is invalid or out of range for property `quality' of type
`gfloat'

I found nothing suspicious in the profile's keys in gconf

I think this is not a bug but a codecs problem. Both packages
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse and lame must be installed to make
the mp3 profile appear and work.

[Bug 84007] Re: Cannot edit audio profiles without closing the list

2007-08-01 Thread Max-Ulrich Farber
I have got no problems any more to install the mp3 profile and to rip mp3 filse
since I have installed the fix from this page:
http://www.auer37.dsl.pipex.com/Packages.html.
Are you sure your friends have installed not only the lame package but also the
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse package? Both of them are needed,
otherwise it happenes just what you describe as the mp3 profile bug.

[Bug 129777] Dual screen clones freeze

2007-08-01 Thread helpdeskdan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Ubuntu Feisty, Nvidia driver version 1.0-9755, laptop.

When I use nvidia-settings to set my external monitor to mirror (clone)
my labptop monitor, it will lock up. The only fix is to switch to
terminal and kill the process. IF the monitors are set to be above or
below, it does not freeze/crash/lockup. You can preview any plugin and
it will not crash - preview works fine. It is only when the screensaver
activates when you are cloning screens - the screen goes black and
freezes.

[Bug 106739] Re: Tag editing in rhythmbox strips all tags completely

2007-08-01 Thread Tom Badran
I've spent a good few hours testing tagging with multiple and single
files with the latest rhythmbox in gutsy. I have a collection of about
1300 songs, in various formats including mp3 and ogg. I've retagged at
least on field on every song in my collection, and the new tags are
loaded fine by other programs too. In no case of multiple editing a
single tag (i.e changing the genre of a whole artist over multiple
albums) did i get any problems at all.

[Bug 129193] Re: rhythmbox crashed when playing a m4a-file

2007-08-01 Thread Martin Ahnelöv
Hi. I think we should forget about the crash a little, since you (or
anyone else) haven't been able to repeat it. The stuttering, however, is
very confusing. Can you try to fire up the gutsy-live cd and see if it
stutters there too? According to fellow bug triagers, they haven't been
able to reproduce the stuttering either on gutsy.

If it's very important that you are able to play it, you might want to
look into converting it to mp3 or ogg (Soundconverter, and other).

[Bug 129579] Re: 'Send file...' menu doesn't work

2007-08-01 Thread Neil Vilela
I tried to send files to people on different networks, OS and clients by
clicking on their nicknames on the left side bar then clicking on "Send
files...", nothing happened. Right clicking the nickname in the chat the
"Send file..." menu works, and the side bar starts working until I close
the program. When I open it again it doesn't work anymore until I try to
send a file right clicking the nickname.

[Bug 129665] Re: Unable to skip the current track on last.fm

2007-08-01 Thread Chris Jones
I'm using gutsy, current as of 00:00UTC today, so rhythmbox version
0.11.1-0ubuntu3.

How to reproduce:

o Load rhythmbox
o Listen to any last.fm stream
o click the "Skip the current track" button

Some of the time this will advance to the next track, but very often it
will simply disable the last.fm buttons.
