Just to let you know, I did create a portage overlay on my Gentoo system, (in /src/scan.c) upped the port# limit to 65535, and compiled/installed/merged it. It works fine and is very effective this way. The only thing that would be a further improvement would be to allow the user to enter the low port & hi port # in fields. I mentioned this to Germán Poó-Caamaño, the developer. I can confirm this bug, too. I think the correct strategy would be to tell Nautilus to call the thumbnailer only, if there was no file change (including write access, because downloading software preallocates the file and doesn't alter it's length!) during the current view of the folder. pressing the reload button or changing the folder back and forth restarts possible thumbnailing actions, but doesn't repeat it all the time a file is being written to. -- gnome-video-thumbnailer uses all available CPU power when using bittorrent https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/79030 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I agree with comments above about the dotfiles - Templates should be .templates Agree equally with non-desktop users - but if Nautilus is set to create it on startup if it doesn't exist then non-desktop users won't be affected. As far as I am aware (may be wrong!) Templates is only used by Nautilus. Therefore it should be Nautilus that maintains it. [Bug 130259] Re: Slow moving of (media) files when viewing the target folder
Seems to happen whenever I copy media files, may it be music - or, mostly wmv and avi-files. If I leave the target folder open in nautilus, the move is really slow, but if I close the target folder, it finish very quickly. Its just so slow that you know that it isn't supposed to be like this, probably 10 times slower than if you close the window. Maybe even more on video files. I forgot to mention in the first post that I was talking about moving files between harddrives. moving files around one drive is almost instant, like it should be. I can only test moving from NTFS --> ext3 and vice versa due to how my computer is set up, so I do not know if this might be different on other filesystems. The NTFS disk is a removable USB 2.0 harddrive. Since reporting the bug, I have found out that it happens 100% of the time if the target folder is open on nautilus, so that makes me suspect that it is in fact nautilus that is the problem. -- Slow moving of (media) files when viewing the target folder https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130259 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
