[Bug 92296] Re: [Feisty] Low quality of text rendering in Evince

2007-08-24 Thread Joe Harrington
No, sorry, I'm on Feisty with evince 0.8.1, and I get terrible Type-3
handling. See the attached screen shot. The left is gv (running
ghostscript) on the attached Python tutorial. The middle is evince on
the same document. The right is evince on my syllabus, which is also
attached. The tutorial uses mostly CMR Type 3 fonts, but the syllabus
uses Type 1 and TrueType. Acroread does as well as ghostscript.

Also, bug #59316 and bug #69731 seem to be the same. Note that they are

render well for you on 7.04 patched, we should compare installed package

[Bug 134616] [gutsy] image viewer slow to start

2007-08-24 Thread ChrisC
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

opening an image is *very* slow, running eye of gnome from the
command prompt is also slow and comes up with

** (eog:6550): WARNING **: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes
include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus
security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the
network connection was broken.

I assume its referring to dbus?? which *is* running

GNOME eog 2.19.5
D-Bus Message Bus Launcher 1.1.1

an image viewer really does need to come up straight away, *if* dbus is
essential
eog should wait for it in a separate thread while it gets on with actually
showing the image - which is kinda what its for...

You cant guarantee the availability of dbus on a particular system or at any
particular time.

[Bug 134628] Epiphany doesn't exit cleanly

2007-08-24 Thread Joe Barnett
Public bug reported:

Closing the last tab in epiphany no longer shuts down the epiphany
process in gutsy. Used to do so in feisty.

When I close the last tab in the first window opened, the process keeps
running, and displays the following message:
sys:1: Warning: IA__g_object_remove_toggle_ref: couldn't find toggle ref
0xb677ba30(0x830a8c4)

[Bug 63544] Re: Volume control key controls speaker not headphones

2007-08-24 Thread Aaron Whitehouse
*Sigh*... the joys of free software. Again, something doesn't work
properly and the bug gets marked as invalid because one can manually
fix it.

The current behaviour (in Gutsy Tribe 5) is unexpected and unintuitive.
That means that there *is* a bug, we just have to figure out the best
solution to the problem and file the appropriate upstream bugs that will
result in this being fixed.

I propose that we file an upstream to have the volume hotkeys control
both Master and Headphones by default. That seems the intuitive thing
for them to control. People that want to change that to get more
control are likely to be a small percentage of advanced users and these
users are likely to be able to find the ability in Sound Preferences.

It's an issue in 7.10 too. My Olympus SP 510 UZ is recognized as Olympus C-370Z.

[Bug 72638] Re: Photo import fails

2007-08-24 Thread shevron
sorry for doublepost but i couldn't find the edit-button
so... i found a solution for my problem.
I guess I was too fast.
OK... that was never a problem before...
so... here is how it works FOR ME...

My camera has this red led blinking when it's working...
and when you connect it with the pc... well it has to work...

Now i waited until it stops blinking and pressed Import photos then...
and... here we go... it works!

So maybe you should do it like... the driver needs some time to load... so give
it that time...
and when the driver is loaded start gthumb...
hope it works for you other guys too.
