[Bug 136273] Rhythmbox crashes when transferring an OGG file to a MTP-enabled player
Public bug reported: I bought a Sandisk Sansa e250 mplayer, I plugged it in Ubuntu gutsy 7.10, Rhythmbox saw it fast, so I decided to transfer some of my OGG files, it started transferring perfectly but..then when it finished it just crashed! So I killed rhythmbox, re-attached the MP3 Player as MSC and a desktop icon opped up, I access the Music folder and I can clearly see the converted file (from ogg it turned to mp3), but its not in the Mp3's list, but if I transfer the files being ORIGINALLY Mp3 codec, the list gets updated fine. ** Affects: libmtp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libmtp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Rhythmbox crashes when transferring an OGG file to a MTP-enabled player https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136273 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 136256] "Quit" option in System menu - strange wording?
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel In the System menu, there is an option labelled "Quit..." I have seen two different users confused by this option, who have had trouble determining how to log out. There are a few reasons for this, and some other problems associated with this naming: -"Quit" is generally not associated with logging out of the system. When somebody is looking to log out or turn off the computer, "Quit" is usually not the first thing on his mind. -That menu item also leads to Hibernate, Stand By and Lock Screen. None of these are really quitting, but rather pausing. -"Quit" may be mistaken for the action of exiting a program. It is (vaguely) possible that a user could select that menu option thinking to quit a program. I will admit to being unable to think of such a broad title as would cover all these options at once (other than Quit), but I believe if there is a tidy and understandable solution, it would work well. ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- "Quit" option in System menu - strange wording? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136256 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 135016] Re: Evolution prevents nfs server from working when synchronising folders
Not at all. The issue is that evolution is opening lots of small files on the local hard disk (not via NFS - I'm running an NFS server, not client), which resource starves the NFS server running on the same box. I highly doubt this problem is isolated to evolution, but since it's the application that exposes the (kernel/driver?) bug, it seemed the correct application to open the issue against. Apologies if this is incorrect. Just want to make it clear that I do know what I'm talking about here - just may not be making things clear :) -- Evolution prevents nfs server from working when synchronising folders https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135016 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 126645] Re: Emails wont preview when opened
Hi Pedro, Sorry for the delay in responding previously. I've been moving house and not had internet until now. After some more digging, I think I've found the cause. My inbox was set to only show unread items. When I then open an item, it becomes unread. The email window would open up but then not load any data. I can confirm this bug. Switching users when compiz is enabled crashes the xserver. Reproduceable steps: login user A switch to user B enter password at gdm for user B switch back to user A HALT This is happening to a lot of users: see also: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/46018 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/64023 I am using an nvidia card, but one of these bug reports is about an ati card. They also specify it does not happening when the users use metacity. One of the bug is incorrectly marked as a duplicate of an ati crash. The common factor in my experience and these bug-reports clearly is compiz-fusion. They also both specify (like in my experience) that logging in to another user through GDM does not crash the system. So i'm re-opening this bug. And marking the two other bugs as duplicates of this one. Can someone please verify that compiz+fusion with gutsy + fast-user-switching-applet works for them ? It worked after I logged out and then back in, but then the same think happened again when i tried to change the number of workspaces available in the lower gnome-panel (toolbar). My video card is a 'XFX GeFORCE 7300GS 256MB DDR2, 550Mhz' Many thanks for your swift response! [Bug 135889] Unable to change number of available workspaces with desktop effects enabled
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This doesn't look like #94871 or #105587, as I don't have the compiz cube enabled. After installing gutsy, I had desktop effects enabled by default. I expected to be able to change the number of available workspaces by right-clicking the workspace pager and selecting "Properties." This option would only appear there once I disabled desktop effects via the Appearance prefs panel. ** Affects: libwnck (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: Invalid -- Unable to change number of available workspaces with desktop effects enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135889 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 135792] Re: rhythmbox does not use the http_proxy, freezes
I can confirm that setting the proxy settings with gnome-network-preferences works. There is still the issue with the freeze, though. If rhythmbox cannot connect to an Internet radio station, it should fail gracefully. Should I file this as another bug or will you re-open this one? [Bug 135650] Re: GIMP crashes when trying to resize an image.
Sebastien Bacher: "the log seems to be truncated and has no error, did you get the crash during this run?" No. That was the output of the log. I'll do another. Like I mentioned on IRC, I couldn't get it to crash launching it with: "G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log gimp" It went VERY slow that was it. I can make it crash if I create a new image or resize _ANYTHING_. Canvas, layer or image. This happens when launching it from the menu or via CLI. Attached is another log where things work other than being slow. There's a difference somewhere. I just can't track it down. ion_ on #ubuntu- devel is having this same issue. ** Attachment added: "valgrind-logs-gimp-new.tar.gz" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9062161/valgrind-logs-gimp-new.tar.gz -- GIMP crashes when trying to resize an image. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135650 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gimp in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

** Attachment added: "Screen shot" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9060609/Screenshot.png ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nautilus First off this is my first time using Linux. I've only just installed Ubuntu 2 weeks ago. It worked fine so far. The only setting I changed was to 'Enable Desktop Effects'. It still worked fine for 1 week. I then changed the screen resolution (only god know why!) and as I had previously clicked on 'enabled desktop effects' a week ago I tried to unenable them.
