The changes I made to the dialog are as following: In the General tab of the Mail Preferences dialog I've removed the New Mail Notification category, which went to a single tab with the same name (at the moment this is the last tab, maybe this is not the best placement, but I did not care about that, because this is an option not that important for me). [Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs
also, I guess this could be related with: from 'man smb.conf' -- dos filetimes (S) Under DOS and Windows, if a user can write to a file they can change the timestamp on it. Under POSIX semantics, only the owner of the file or root may change the timestamp. By default, Samba runs with POSIX semantics and refuses to change the timestamp on a file if the user smbd is acting on behalf of is not the file owner. Setting this option to yes allows DOS semantics and smbd(8) will change the file timestamp as DOS requires. Due to changes in Microsoft Office 2000 and beyond, the default for this parameter has been changed from no to yes in Samba 3.0.14 and above. Microsoft Excel will display dialog box warnings about the file being changed by another user if this parameter is not set to yes and files are being shared between users. [Bug 148291] Re: Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
Posted again here: The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'. (Details: serial 1600 error_code 2 request_code 146 minor_code 35) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) [Bug 144859] Re: Color schemes can't be disabled
Well, I have tried hard to create a backtrace, but actually the program does not crash, it just seems to fall asleep for endless time. I nailed down the issue with some trial and error sessions. Apparently the issue is not really the file size, but rather the long text lines. I tried an indented version of the same SQL file, where INSERT statements had been split into multiple lines and it loaded fine, and gedit did not freeze. Using the same file with INSERT statements in on long line (189 INSERT rows, each about 200 characters), gedit just did nothing. I could browse a few lines down, then the text edit control went all white and stayed this way for ages. Gave up after waiting a few hours in the evening. Is there anything else I can do to help finding the reason for this freeze or slowdown? Backtrace wasn't the thing to do it seems, as it does not crash. [Bug 148922] Option --import-bookmarks doesn't work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: epiphany-browser According to epiphany's manpage, there exist a command line option called '--import-bookmarks=FILE' to import bookmarks from a file. However when trying to use this option epiphany does not do anything. * Steps to reproduce: 1) create a epiphany bookmarks file by exporting your bookmarks (- bookmarks.rdf) 2) delete all bookmarks to prevent duplicating entries 3) run epiphany --import-bookmarks=bookmarks.rdf * Observed behavior: Bookmarks don't show up in epiphany bookmarks. * Expected behavior: Imported bookmarks should show up. * Further information: - Epiphany version 2.20.0 from Ubuntu 7.10 Beta used. The same bug appeared also with epiphany version 2.14.3 on a non-ubuntu machine - Importing the same bookmark RDF file through the bookmark editor's Import menu entry works well. - Several different bookmark RDF files were tested. - Also tried importing a mozilla HTML bookmark file with --import-bookmarks. Didn't work either - Also tried command line option --add-bookmard=URL for a single url. The GNOME hackers are working on a new gnome-session[1], which will fix this bug. So, i'd close this one or reassing it to other component rather than vino. [Bug 131530] Re: 'Browse device...' in the bluetooth applet is useless without gnome-vfs-obexftp
I tested this.. the Browse Device feature works only after installing gnome-vfs-obexftp. If gnome-vfs-obexftp isn't installed, we can see devices but we can't browse them with nautilus. Actually, Browse device.. just open the device at his root folder ( obex://[00:00:00:00:00:00] ) The root folder of the OBEX service only depends on the device itself and not on gnome-vfs-obexftp.
