Sorry for the confusion. I was confirming the bug based on my testing. By "not otherwise impacting epiphany", I mean that I could still launch epiphany-gecko from the epiphany menu item, and the application worked successfully, so it appears that the only remaining functionality in the "dummy" package is the selection option, so this bug isn't local to your system, and should be considered for a solution. -- epiphany-browser is described as a dummy package, but provides useful functionality https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176497 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for epiphany-browser in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 176640] multiple password entry request by gdm with thinkfinger PAM module
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm I have a toshiba laptop with a built-in fingerprint reader. I have installed the thinkfinger module and configured PAM to allow logging in to the system by swiping my finger. this works great. when i initially start the system, the GDM login screen comes up with a message "Enter your password or swipe your finger". if swipe my finger, I'm logged in and taken to my Gnome desktop. However if I enter my password, GDM returns to the same password entry screen, but instead of "Enter your password or swipe your finger", i get just "Enter your password" message. If i enter my password the second time, I'm then taken to the gnome desktop, as expected. Also after GDM returns the second time with "Enter your password" message, swiping my finger no longer works. The only problem is the dbgsyms don't seem to be available for Hardy... I just try to create a user for which the only information is account name and password and after clicking 'Ok' it takes a second or two then crashes. (I tried filling up all fields to no avail) Before updating to Hardy (IOW with Gutsy) I could create users just fine. [Bug 164971] Re: Gnome freezes after moving or deleting many files
I can confirm this bug. It first happened when I tried to gather all the files for the cdburner to create a mp3 CD. It was a real pain because it was not possible to burn the cd or save the stuff I configured for this cd. So I had to start from scratch and all work of 2h music selection was gone. Now I am copying the file and I will burn the cd at once when all files are there. During this preparation I have encountered the "Too many open files" Bug several times and I solved it with logging in/out. This bug is really a pain in the ... uhm ... [Bug 176503] Re: gnome segfault on login
** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-panel When I was changing the looks of my account I noticed that gnome-appearance-properties wouldn't start. When I inserted the command in the terminal it told me about a segfault. I tried to solve it with restarting the X server, but after I logged in on my account I got an empty desktop. I switched to tty1 and logged in with the root account and found out the segfaults in messages which are attached to this bug report(although those are just 10 minutes old). I killed the gdm processes and executed 'M_ALLOC=0 startx'. Now I had was logged in into gnome with root. It worked fine. But the same command by my own account still caused segfaults. I tried startx without M_ALLOC=0 at root and it still worked. Can the username be the cause? My username is 'sense' + I thought the error could be in the hidden configuration files in my home directory, who are still from dapper, so I removed my account, changed the name of my home dir to sense-bak and created a new account. I could work on it for a while, I got it configured again and the files back to their place, but then it got segfaults again. Using nvidia or nv as display driver didn't change that. I created a test account called test, which is a Desktop user(sense is an Administrator), and it still works, although it is just 15 mins old. I files this bug against gnome-panel because that gave the most segfaults. update-manager gave just one, do I have to file this against that too, or should I pick the kernel? [Bug 176503] gnome segfault on login
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel When I was changing the looks of my account I noticed that gnome-appearance-properties wouldn't start. My username is 'sense' I files this bug against gnome-panel because that gave the most segfaults. update-manager gave just one, do I have to file this against that too, or should I pick the kernel? [Bug 176497] epiphany-browser is described as a dummy package, but provides useful functionality
Public bug reported: the epiphany-browser package states in its description that it is a "dummy package". However, it provides the entry for epiphany in gnome's preferred applications list for web browsers.
