[Bug 149791] [NEW] Black & White Video Output (Gutsy)

2008-02-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Gstreamer fails to autodetect the correct video output on my hardware
and ALL the videos (xvid, ogg theora, wmv) are only displayed in black &
White, with both Totem and Vlc players.. Compiz is not related to this
bug (it also happens when it is disabled).

Workaround: launch gstreamer-properties -> Video -> Output -> X Window
System (No Xv)

Please note that currently Vlc continues to display videos in Black &
White and the same happens in totem with the wmv format and in
RealPlayer with the real video format.

[Bug 188571] [NEW] [hardy] no 3d in pdf

2008-02-03 Thread Alexander Rødseth
Public bug reported:

MeshLab is one of the "projects of the month" at sourceforge:
http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/.
At the webpage, they have a pdf:
http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/wiki/images/c/cc/Laurana.pdf
This one is supposed to have embedded 3D in the U3D-format, but I can't see any
3D in Evince, only "(lau.u3d)".

My first thought was, "ah, they have crafted the pdf to work together
with a 3d-viewer on Windows or something", but the references to several
operating systems and cross-plattform standards and technologies on the
webage made me go: "look, they have mentioned LaTeX, surely the pdf
should be viewable on Linux as well".

So, if possible, U3D in .pdf files in Evince would be fantastic. I'm not
100% sure if this is a bug or a wish, but I think it's a bug
borderlining a wish.

[Bug 173721] Re: Gnome keyboard layout options (like remapping Caps Lock) are not reapplied after reboot

2008-02-03 Thread André Barmasse
Bug is confirmed under Hardy Heron Alpha 3 on my Sony Vaio VGN-FS195VP.
After having updated Hardy a few days ago the Gnome keyboard layout
keeps staying on the US keyboard layout - even though I have removed
that one and installed only the Switzerland keyboard layout!! Strange
enough, I can switch to my keyboard settings - at least for the time I
am working within Gnome - just by clicking on anything in the "layout
options". But after logging out of Gnome or rebooting the computer the
keyboard is set back to the US layout. Evidently, the "gnome-keyboard-
settings" simply does not store the settings made by the user.

[Bug 181065] Re: Unable to unlock the screensaver

2008-02-03 Thread dreuveni
I have this same problem. After a restore from hibernate, the screen
saver gets activated by a pause in activity and it is not possible to
unlock the screen. This started happening after the update of the tzdata
package. For some reason, this package is not saved in the cache, nor
can I access it to downgrade using synaptic. However, the combination of
symptoms may help to debug this problem by figuring out why tzdata
affects the screen saver.

[Bug 188273] [NEW] errors not reported when invalid username supplied for new user in gnome users and groups admin

2008-02-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

In Hardy, I use the users and groups admin tool to add a user with name "admin".
That's not permissable, since it already exists. But it doesn't show me that
anything's wrong, and it looks like the user has been created.
Yet when I restart the application, it obviously wasn't.

Using the command line shows me the problem: "admin" was not available
as a name.

I want the application to tell me when creating a user has failed, and
to tell me why.

[Bug 188670] [NEW] users-admin doesn't have an entry for 'Administer printers'

2008-02-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

There is no entry for use/administer printers in:
users-admin > Properties > User Privileges

This is the place where this configuration would be expected by a normal
user. There are already similar entries, like 'Use scanners'.

Today, the user is forced to add the users from the command line, which
is unacceptable. (something like:)

$ sudo lppasswd -a peter
$ sudo gpasswd -a peter lpadmin

This is not a duplicate of Bug #152107 (users-admin doesn't add admin
users to lpadmin), because you might definitely want to grant some users
the right to administer printers, without other administration rights.

This bug applies at least to Xubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon

[Bug 188575] Re: Kopete crashes sometimes on the upper panel

2008-02-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
"/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash" in
a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 181788] Re: Deluge can't select from start dir om extern drive

2008-02-03 Thread Tim Kornhammar
I use Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10).

I can only guess why, the last directory used gets listed. I can't
choose that directory if it is on an external drive. I have to activly
choose a directory to be able to select that directory as my target. My
workaround is that I select the previous directory and then click on the
folder in the folderstructure. It can't be done if you only use the
"history" or whatever that is above the directory tree.

I don't get an error, nothing happens. I've tried to see if the console
spits something out but it doesn't.

My way of reproducing:
Using Deloge-torrent.
Loading torrent.
Last dir is on the external, so just OK.
Nothing happens.

Workaround:
Press on parent directory.
Choose the directory from the tree.
Press OK.
