[Bug 189101] Re: incorrect number presentation on gcalctool

2008-02-07 Thread Marcelo Briones
I have found the error in the source code. It is the same error in
gcalctool 5.20.1 and 5.20.2.

I attach the diff file of display.c

I'm afraid I could not test if this patch works fine or not, so I give
you this little work.

(by the way, sorry about my english)

[Bug 190124] [NEW] Couldn't display "obex://fa:ce:fe:ed:be:ef]".

2008-02-07 Thread Konrads Smelkovs
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:
1) Click on Bluetooth Manager,
2) then Browse Device,
3) then select a previously paired device (mine is SonyEricsson K750i),
4) wait
5) Observe error message:
Couldn't display "obex://fa:ce:fe:ed:be:ef]".
Check if the service is available.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 177570 ***

I'm seeing the same thing with my Lenovo Thinkpad T61 on Hardy.

I see the problem now
Battery1 is reading /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state

Battery2 is reading /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info

But there is ONLY 1 real Battery. It appears somebody just put some dumb

[Bug 190120] [NEW] [hardy] Resources tab of g-s-m uses 100% CPU

2008-02-07 Thread Tony Yarusso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

Running Hardy with gnome-system-monitor 2.21.5-0ubuntu1, linux kernel
2.6.24-5-generic.

There is something about the new graphs in the system monitor that cause
it to use an extraordinary amount of processing power when viewed.
Opening the program itself does not cause any ill effects, and the
System, Processes, and File Systems tabs all work fine. However, as
soon as I switch to the Resources tab my processor usage shoots up to
100%. I can confirm that it is in fact using that much, and not merely
misreporting, as a) I have the system monitor panel applet running as
well, and b) system responsiveness grinds to a near-halt. Switching
back to one of the other three tabs makes everything normal again.

I have been using a graph refresh rate of 1/1.75s. Using 1/4.00s CPU
usage drops to 50-55%. Increasing the interval to 60.00s brings it down
to an almost reasonable 10%. The shortest interval that will
consistently give 100% is 2.00s.

My hardware consists of a 1.86 GHz Pentium M processor and 1024 MB RAM
with and ATI Radeon Mobility X300 video card.

I have attached a screenshot of the graphs, showing the result of
alternating between the Resources tab and the others (as it still graphs
in the background as long as the app is open). Note that actually
calculating the graphs doesn't seem to be a problem, but only if you are
actually looking at them.

I see that there are a number of performance-related bugs filed against
g-s-m, but after looking through them it does not seem to me that any of
them are the same set of conditions and symptoms, so I think this is a
new bug, but am not 100% sure.

[Bug 190112] [NEW] wrong order of reproduction on mp3 player

2008-02-07 Thread aloctavodia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

not a real bug, but a really annoying feature of nautilus.

Many mp3 players (especially cheap and generic ones) doesn´t sort files,
instead the files are readed in the same order they were written.
Nautilus does not copy files in alphabetic order, so when you reproduce
files on your mp3 player they are not in alphabetic order.

Littles details like this are very important for common users and are
the ones that help an OS to become human-friendly.

well, i read on ubuntuforums.org that this issue seems solved in hardy.
i guess there wont be a "fix" for gutsy.

concerning the gdm login...
id rather wait a bit more on the complete boot process than after the gdm login.
that readahead thingy had some positive impact here.
before i had to wait a minute til i could work, now its 29 seconds.
honestly, 1 minute is anacceptable. not even windows takes that long.

[Bug 190100] [NEW] Hardy Alpha 4 Real Player displays vertical bars

2008-02-07 Thread jerrylamos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

Hardy Alpha 4 up to date Real Player gets sound but video is just
vertical colored bars.

This is a dual boot system so Hardy Alpha as of a few days ago Real
Player ran fine.

Example is BBC News, one minute summary select stand alone player, runs
fine until last few days update.

I just selected Help, Report a Bug, so apport fired up and may have some
info.

This is readily reproducible so let me know if I can send any info.

Hardware is Compaq Preario 3.3 gHz Celeron.

Flash Player on You Tube running O.K. Did get one crash earlier which
apport sent info in.

[Bug 189131] Re: web shortcuts are not opened with the preferred browser

2008-02-07 Thread Mariano Draghi
I've just found that the way .desktop files are handled in Gnome is
configured in /usr/share/applications/defaults.list (and can be
overriden in a per-user basis editing
~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list).

When the user changes the default browser, gnome-control-center should
create and/or update ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list
accordingly, reflecting the user choice.

[Bug 189131] [NEW] web shortcuts are not opened with the preferred browser

2008-02-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

My preferred, default browser is Epiphany (i.e., /etc/alternatives/x
-www-browser points to /usr/bin/epiphany)

But if I create a web shortcut to some page from Epiphany (by dragging
the icon next to the URL in the location bar to, for example, the
Desktop), the resulting .desktop file is always opened with Firefox when
I double click on it.

Steps to reproduce:
 1. Set Epiphany (or any other browser different from Firefox) as the default
web browser
 2. Create a web shortcut somewhere in the filesystem, by draging a URL to the
Desktop or a Nautilus window
 3. Double-click the created shortcut (.desktop file)

Actual result: The page is opened in Firefox

Expected result: The page should be opened in Epiphany (or whatever
browser is set as the preferred one)

Additional information:
 - Ubuntu 7.10 with all updates as of Feb/08

[Bug 190082] [NEW] itms browser-plugin uses firefox instead of xulrunner

2008-02-07 Thread Sebastian Keller
Public bug reported:

In hardy it seems that the firefox -> xulrunner switch is happening. Firefox-3
itself is using xulrunner and the totem-plugin started using it, too.
The blueprint for this is here:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/xulrunner-gecko
Rhythmbox still uses firefox for the itms browser-plugin and installs it to
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins where neither firefox-3 nor epiphany (which uses
xulrunner now, too) can find it.

Re: [Bug 157276] Re: IM contact synchronization

2008-02-07 Thread phirestalker
evolution 2.12.1 on ubuntu 7.10. to reproduce the behavior create a
contact that has the name and the IM address of the person at minimum
then (make sure they are on your contacts list in pidgin) and go into
preferences, under mail preferences on the automatic contacts tab enable
the second option and then click Synchronize with buddy list now. when
it has finished it will have a duplicate of the contact that you created
instead of just updating it with info from the IM profile.

[Bug 157262] Re: not downloading html to added addressbook

2008-02-07 Thread Derekh
open evolution. Select menu / Edit / Preferences /
Mail Preferences on side bar selection.
Tab to second tab [HTML Mail]
[Load Images] Option - 'Load images in mail in contacts' selected.

[Address book]
An address book was created with two words as the title. example [newsletter
list].

I noticed the html was not loading for that address book but were loading for
the [personal] address which was still there.
(I did switch the default selection to see if that made a difference-did not)

After some messing around, I finally renamed the [newsletter list]
addressbook to simply [newsletter] and then the HTML would load up.

Hope this helps

Thank you

[Bug 163558] Re: print - does not print handout with 2 pages

2008-02-07 Thread Bae Taegil
Printing 1 page per sheet makes no trouble. But printing 2 pages per sheet
makes a trouble.
For gtk-demo, the trouble is something about a blank page.
But for gedit, the trouble is that the last page is not printed.
Do you think that making a blank page doesn't matter?
I think these are the same bug about printing 2 pages per sheet.

I attach a screenshot of gedit output PDF file. Totally 3 pages, but 2
pages is printed on 1 sheet.

[Bug 186186] Re: web page background render errors

2008-02-07 Thread Fabien Tassin
This seems to be related to cairo (used by xulrunner-1.9), or more
precisely, to one of the patch used by Ubuntu (as the embedded cairo
shipped by Mozilla is not affected). Most probably the lcd subpixel
filter patch.

Strangely, those rendering errors seem to occur only on ATI when using
XAA (confirmed on fglrx and radeon X drivers).

[Bug 190059] [NEW] rhythmbox freezes after playing for some time intermitently

2008-02-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Gutsy, rhythmbox 0.11.2-0ubuntu4,

After playing songs in my library eventually rhythmbox will freeze. The
system tray icon does not respond on right-click, if the GUI is on a
desktop it will not redraw. It freezes on a different song each time.

stdout seems to print this:

sh: jackd: not found

strace says this at the end before the freeze:

mmap2(NULL, 1053, PROT_READ, MAP_SHARED, 21, 0) = 0xb4bd9000
_llseek(21, 1053, [1053], SEEK_SET) = 0
munmap(0xb4bd9000, 1053)= 0
close(21) = 0
open("/dev/snd/controlC0", O_RDONLY)= 21
close(21) = 0
semget(0x56a4d5, 1, IPC_CREAT|0660) = 42663938
semctl(42663938, 0, IPC_64|IPC_STAT, 0xbf8d4118) = 0
semctl(42663938, 0, IPC_64|IPC_SET, 0xbf8d4118) = -1 EPERM (Operation not
permitted)
semop(42663938, 0xbf8d41ee, 2

Trying with gdb now, but this can often take hours. I'll attach my full
strace.

Ok, it froze again, after killing rhythmbox with ctrl-C bt gdb gives me:

Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt.

[Bug 190057] [NEW] stage6 files can't be played with totem-plugin

2008-02-07 Thread Jens Fursund
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin

When wanting to watch movies from a stage6-enabled site, the movies
won't play (they would in Gutsy), Firefox asks for a plugin and suggests
mplayer. I consider this a regression, since this did not seem to be a
problem before, and I do not want to install mplayer.

2008-02-07 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
"/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash" in
a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 92119] Re: Network History: Y axis doesn't indicate full scale value

2008-02-07 Thread Steve Watson
I agree with Trouillez vincent that updated fullscale values would help.
My issue is with my apartment complex providing me a "high speed
internet" connection that is choked down on an instantaneous basis from
DSL speed to 56K modem speed to intervals of zero speed lasting up to
several seconds. This makes Skype audio and news videos choppy. Just
now, infospeed.verizon.net reads 245 and 135 Kbits/sec on sequential
tests, downloading a 500KB file. But NetMeter (www.metal-
machine.de/readerror/) for Windows shows an instantaneous readout with
option to use a fixed or variable Y-axis. I find that with a fixed 768Kb
scale I can see how much or little service I'm getting. That enables me
to feel indignant in a more accurate way. Our service is provided
through cable modems in each apartment that looked really good on the
tour, but I didn't discover the real problem until after I'd signed a
yearlong lease and moved in. The office staff shrugs uncomprehendingly,
and I can't get out of the lease or get an outside ISP. With your help,
though, I might consider a class action lawsuit -- but then, maybe I
shouldn't say that; you probably don't want to get involved. Anyway, my
point is that user choice is nice so we can tailor to our specific
needs.

[Bug 190008] [NEW] Theme color change not applied on logon

2008-02-07 Thread DavidONE
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

Ubuntu 8.04 (all updates to date), Gnome 2.21.90, build 01/29/08.
Compiz Fusion is enabled.

I have customised the default theme slightly by using Clearlooks
Controls, Clearlooks Window Border, Human Icons and changing the
'Selected items' background to #66.

When I logon all windows have a darkish blue title bar, but the other
elements (scroll bar, tab, etc.) use the correct color (#66).

When I open Appearance Preferences, the correct color is immediately
applied. This is retained until I reboot.
