2008-02-24 Thread hggdh
I am closing this bug INVALID. Since 2.12, Evolution is using the system
TZdata; as such, if this is still an issue, it has to be pursued on
tzdata, not on Evolution; additionally, the reporter never replied
again.

[Bug 195322] [NEW] Python Extensions Broken

2008-02-24 Thread Stefan Nuxoll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

After toying with python-nautilus I was wondering why my extensions
weren't being loaded, so I went and killall -9'ed nautilus and read the
debug log (attached). After seeing "0x8177510 2008/02/24 22:12:12.6001
(GLog): g_module_open libpython failed: libpython2.5.so: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory" I browsed /usr/lib and
saw python2.5.so.1, and linked python2.5.so to it, which fixed the
issue. Assuming this is a nautilus problem since python and every other
python app on my system works fine.

[Bug 194852] [NEW] Partition mounted in home subdir shown as media drive on desktop

2008-02-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have mounted a partition to /home/jarlath/Videos. This partition still
shows up (incorrectly I believe) on the desktop. It is displayed as a
media drive. In previous versions of Ubuntu - the drive had to be
mounted at /media for this behaviour to occur. Also, when I click
'Places', the Videos bookmark has been replaced with "38.1 GB Media"

/dev/sda1 is my root filesystem
/dev/sda2 is mounted to /home/jarlath/Videos
and I have a swap partition

When I check the properties of the desktop icon it says in the
permissions tab that the permissions "could not be determined".

I used the following fstab entry to mount this drive:

UUID=/home/jarlath/Videosext3defaults0
2

Anyway, just to recap - because this drive is mounted to a folder
outside of /media, I believe this icon should not appear.

[Bug 148712] Re: Gusty, Hardy: Not seeing bluetooth services even after pairing

2008-02-24 Thread Saïvann Carignan
Alex Mayorga Adame : Thanks for your comment. I can reproduce your issue,
however it's not the same as the one described in this bug report. People here
spoke about problems with services and pairing and had this error message :
Couldn't display "obex://[xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx]".
Check if the service is available.

Your error message describe bug 148712 which appeared recently and make
impossible to use OBEX devices on Hardy.

You are right, you should not try to "browse" a headset since it's not
possible. I suggest that you open a bug report to suggest that bluez-
util should show only OBEX browsable devices.

[Bug 195299] [NEW] Transparent background freezes on window move

2008-02-24 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Ubuntu 7.10
Latest updates, Compiz enabled, with wobbly windows and transparency on window
move

I can set the gnome-terminal background to be transparent, which works fine,
but when I move the window, it keeps the background from where I picked it up
until I drop it.
Now, the transparency for the window border works fine while I'm moving it, but
inside the terminal, it stays the same. This is why I think it's in the
terminal app...

** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2008-02-24 Thread Saïvann Carignan
Thanks for finding this out. I can also reproduce this bug and somebody
from bug 148712. It seems clear that gnome-vfs-obexftp does not work
with nautilus 1:2.21.91-0ubuntu3 yet. This would probably need to be
fixed before Hardy RC.

[Bug 195296] Re: [gutsy] gdm (including gdmsetup) ignores or cannot access gdm.conf-custom

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gdm

Re: [Bug 106060] Re: Selecting the braid screensaver makes the PC freeze. It is completely unresponsive.

2008-02-24 Thread Jerry Schaefer
"dondad",

I don't mean to be argumentative, but the Molecule freeze appears to be
more thorough. The keyboard and mouse do not work. At all. The only
thing that works is a hard-reset with the power key, or unplugging the PC.

Molecule did not freeze up my Mac, but it took MANY minutes before a
molecule appeared on the screen - about 20 or 30. The 32-bit PC version
just locks up solid. This was reported in April, and nothing has been fixed.

You do have an impressive array of hardware, though. Mine is minimal.

I have the same problem (on Ubuntu 7.10, Brother MFC-240C).

When I run evince as a normal user it gives the error, HOWEVER if I run
it as root and open the file from there and print, everything works out
normally. I guess it's a permissions problem (at least on my computer),
then?

[Bug 186186] Re: web page background render errors

2008-02-24 Thread Stephen Cradock
for me it occurs in Hardy 32-bit or Hardy 64-bit with Firefox 3.0 beta
3, but not in Gutsy 32-bit with Firefox 3.0 b3pre. It's interesting that
Paul mentions Compiz - I have Compiz enabled in Gutsy 32-bit, using
fglrx and xgl, but not in hardy. Compiz won't run for me in Hardy either
with open-source or proprietary drivers for my ATI Radeon Xpress 200M

GNOME nautilus 2.21.91

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -l nautilus

When I drag files to the Trashcan on the desktop, the Trashcan icon does not
show that the files are there. If I open the Trashcan it shows deleted files.
If I logout and login again, the icon shows that files are in the Trashcan.
If I select "Empty trashcan" from the icon context menu, the icon still shows
full Trashcan. If I open the Trashcan it shows empty.
If I logout and login again I see an empty Trashcan icon on the desktop.
I can now repeat the whole procedure. ;-)

[Bug 195256] [NEW] Evolution error while getting email

2008-02-24 Thread Tim Gardner
Public bug reported:

When first logging into Evolution and during any attempt to get email by
pressing the Send/Receive button, the following message box appears:

Error while Storing folder 'Inbox'.

Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync

Ubuntu 6.06 LTS - The Dapper Drake

Evolution 2.6

Following taken from Terminal using command "ps ax" and then finding the
Evolution line item

   evolution --component=mail

I expected to have my email returned from the mail server. I think that
it does still retrieve it as I do have current mail. I think that I get
this message after the retrieval process and it also appears to be
giving me mulitple copies of the same email.

Agreed. And if that's fixed the gst-plugins-* could be closed as obsolete (it
would still be showed as bad/ugly in Synaptic, but if a user goes to synaptic
and installs the package by hand he likely knows what he's doing, that's
completely different than going to play music and seen that dialogue).

I would really like to avoid diverging from Debian now that we have the
gstreamer stack in sync.

[Bug 195255] [NEW] Visual effects properties config tool has untranslatable strings

2008-02-24 Thread Ricardo Pérez López
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

1. Go to System->Preferences->Appearance, and select the Visual Effects tab.
2. Change from "None" to "Normal" or "Extra".
3. The system changes from metacity to compiz.
4. A dialog box appears asking you if you want to "Use the previous settings"
or "Keep the settings".

That dialog box has four untranslated strings, which appears in English
in my Spanish desktop. The untranslated strings are:

"Keep Settings"
"Do you want to keep these settings?"
"Use _previous settings"
"_Keep settings"

The above four strings are untranslatable, because there are NOT in the
Launchpad gnome-control-center template, as you can see:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/gnome-control-
center/+pots/gnome-control-center-2.0/es/+translate

I attach an screenshot to illustrate the problem.

heh, right. Perhaps the same but removing bad/ugly/good. Although I doubt that
will be any better than it is now, as a user will be as (or more) alarmed if he
sees unstable (or experimental) than if he sees bad or ugly.

Non-free sounds like a good replacement for ugly. good doesn't need to be
replaced at all. But for bad... what about "not-so-good"? :)

[Bug 195230] [NEW] gnome-screenshot does not remember user settings

2008-02-24 Thread Elliott Hughes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

this bug has been reported (by other people) upstream, and i've supplied
a patch upstream but, as you can see from some of the other outstanding
gnome-screenshot bugs, the maintainer's effectively dead and patches
aren't getting applied. i asked jono bacon what i should do when he came
to give a talk at google the other week, and he said to raise a bug in
Ubuntu itself, so that's what i'm doing here.

the original bug (with my patch) is:

  http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434580

basically, gnome-screenshot doesn't save all the settings it should, and
a bug prevents it from saving the others.

this bug has been around for a long time, but it's certainly still in
gnome-utils 2.20.0.1-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 7.10.

[Bug 194052] Re: gpm does not create the correct profiling files

2008-02-24 Thread Islam Badrel-Dein
Hello,

I have something similar on my laptop. The g-p-m shows the battery as
charging whenever I plug my wall adapter. But the battery status freezes
there after then. The attachment shows two snapshots, one of them
showing the mistaken battery reading (it shows 43% while actually the
battery was near to be charged). The second attachment shows the correct
reading. I forced the correct reading to appear by unplugging then
immediately plugging the wall adapter.

Some info:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.24-8-generic ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu
4.2.3-1ubuntu2)) #1 SMP Thu Feb 14 20:13:27 UTC 2008
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -s gnome-power-manager | grep Version
Version: 2.21.1-0ubuntu1
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -s hal | grep Version
Version: 0.5.10-5ubuntu7

I want to add that the same thing happens at discharging. The reading
never gets updated until some major event occurs such as Suspend or
Shutdown. Even if the battery is near to empty, it still shows as 99%
charged!!!

I agree with Matt that we shouldn't change the package name (specially if Debian
doesn't do so, but even if it was my decision to change it in Debian, I wouldn't
do it), but we can change the Description and make gnome-app-install show the
description.

Another thing would be for gstreamer's uptream to change the names, of
course.

[Bug 195191] [NEW] gvfsd-sftp crashed with SIGSEGV in g_data_input_stream_read_line()

2008-02-24 Thread Michael R. Head
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 187200 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187200

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

I get this every time I attempt to "unmount" a sftp share in nautilus.

1) connect to an sftp location by doing Alt-F2 and entering a ssh://[EMAIL
PROTECTED]/path
2) enter password and browse around
3) right click on desktop icon for sftp location and umount
4) bug-buddy appears.
