[Bug 196962] Re: Audio CD launches both Rhythmbox and Sound Juicer

2008-03-05 Thread Martin Pitt
In fact the latest version already fixes this:

gnome-volume-manager (2.22.1-1ubuntu2) hardy; urgency=low

  * Add debian/patches/00_disable_media_handling.patch:
- Disable media handling code and preferences UI, since nautilus does that
  now.
- Patches taken from upstream bugzilla (see patch header), fixed the
  second patch and sent it back to upstream.
  * debian/patches/01_set_defaults.patch: Adapt to patch above.

[Bug 196962] Re: Audio CD launches both Rhythmbox and Sound Juicer

2008-03-05 Thread Kristoffer Lundén
I wondered why it would launch RB, when the common action probably is to
rip the CD. Turns out that, according to the help file, "Importing" a CD
means launching Sound juicer.

Could be more clearly worded in the menu, does not automatically
actually import the music unless you tweak settings, and it is one extra
step, but I guess I can live with it now that I know about it.

[Bug 192217] [NEW] regression: gnome-mount stopped auto-mounting my ipod nano 3gen (worked in prebious Hardy Alpha versions)

2008-03-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-mount

I'm running the latest and greatest hardy alpha and one of these days my
system stopped auto-mounting my ipod nano 3gen. Once gnome-mount crashed
and offered to submit a crash report (which was not submitted and I
don't know where to find the corresponding files) but any time I connect
my ipod now, the ipod screen changes to say "connected - eject before
disconnecting" but I can no longer do an

eject /media/andersja-nano

so the only way to unplug it is to shut down the PC or just unplug
without unmounting/ejecting.

Will attach syslog showing that ubuntu recognizes the device.

RB in Hardy can now both play CDs and rip them, and on top of it it
automatically integrates it into your music collection. This seems
much more consistent to us than using a separate application, and it's
the same number of clicks.

[Bug 198580] Re: Rhythmbox segfaults while playing in background

2008-03-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 198497] Re: cannot rename video file

2008-03-05 Thread getaceres
Yes. If I enable it the result is the same.
I've observed that when I add a video file, I can rename it clicking on the
name and the preview doesn't show on the first time. But once it has been
edited, further tries to edit the name show this behavior.
Also, I tried cutting and pasting part of the name (in a file names A-B.avi,
cut A and try to paste it after B). It gave me an error as if it was trying to
paste the file itself, and not the clipboard content.

[Bug 182165] Re: Hardy - gnome-keybinding-properties shortcuts don't work

I upgraded from gutsy yesterday and my special keys stopped working. I
can see them generate a key in xev, so they work fine, but they're not
picked up by gnome. When i reassign the keys in the config applet, they
work until logged out. All other global hotkeys (metacity, tomboy,
audacious, etc) work fine. Any way to get more insight on what goes
wrong? It seems to be a problem with gnome-settings-daemon, but i'm not

Why not add conservative option too??

[Bug 198154] Re: nautilus don't show thumbnails for jpg images

2008-03-05 Thread badhorse
An example? What kind of example? I don't know if it's really a bug or a
system config issue,but nautilus don't show any thumbnail if the image
has the .jpg extension only a white icon (like i posted in my first
entry to this bug). Nothing more. If the extension is .gif, .png or
.jpeg nautilus work fine and show the thumbnail for the image. I did a
clean install of Hardy over my Gutsy system (formatting root partition
but keeping home partition), deleting .nautilus and .thumbnails hidden
folders and the problem continues.

Sebastien hi,

it does not crash anymore - thanks !!!
One little problem that I still have (which may be due to my
misconfiguration), is that it does not browse the networks automatically
(presents an empty window) unless I specify in the address line the name
of the requested server

Re: [Bug 195765] Re: gvfsd-sftp crashed with SIGSEGV in g_slice_alloc()

2008-03-05 Thread Maraschin
Yes and it is worse than before!

BUT NOW when it crashes it doesn't report an error!!!

It just crashes!!!

Problems:
- I've problem to create directories in another machine using ssh through
nautilus, it crashes or it will just no do it (I can do using another
computer that runs Ubuntu 7.10 - the same operation);
- I've problem to move huge files, like 4.4GB. It just do nothing (I manage
to transfer the same file using FileZilla through sftp);
- I've problems when I try to queue several files to be moved, like move a
set of files, than another set and so on... It crashes after a few seconds
and no error will show, just crashes;
- It keeps loosing the connection to the ssh server and the queue than just
suspend with no option to retry or do anything, I HAVE TO REBOOT the machine
to be able to do anything;
- It seems that when I try to move huge files it just takes all the memory
available, at least is what the monitor shows me;
- The queue list keep moving to the center of the screen after you insert
something in the queue or it completes the transfer of an item;
- Problem to move directories inside directories, it CRASHES during the
moving... (like try to send files that are inside 3 or more levels of
directories...)
- there is no message asking if I would like to overwrite/append/... a file
that already exists in the destination;

BTW, the server in question is running Ubuntu 8.04 Beta with only SSH and
Samba installed...
I do not have the same problems transferring files when I'm using a client
that is running the 7.10...

Is there any way I can help?

As I sad, right now when it crashes it doesn't report any error that I can
report...
It just crashes and it seems the system thinks it is a "normal" failure...

[Bug 198154] Re: nautilus don't show thumbnails for jpg images

2008-03-05 Thread A. Walton
He meant to attach a sample image to the bug, one that was causing the problem.
But I think it may be something simpler. You should check ~/.local/share/mime/
and make sure you don't have an entries overriding JPG's MIME entry. The likely
culprit is in ~/.local/share/mime/globs, a line something like the following
might have crept in:
application/x-extension-jpg:*.jpg
If so, comment it out by adding "# " in front of it (note the space).
# application/x-extension-jpg:*.jpg

Nautilus's thumbnailer is looking for images with specific content types
(mime-types), and application/x-extension-jpg isn't on the list (as it
should be reporting image/jpeg for a jpg image). Certain applications
(F-Spot in particular) have been known to override this entry in the
past for whatever reasons.

[Bug 198632] Re: gnome-session-remove doesn't remove applet.

2008-03-05 Thread John McCabe-Dansted
I run
   gnome-session-remove --list

A number of items are listed, including deskbar-applet

I run e.g.
   gnome-session-remove deskbar-applet

Nothing appears to happen (I would expect the deskbar-applet to be removed). I
run
  gnome-session-remove --list
again and it no longer lists that deskbar-applet.

I try
   killall deskbar-applet
but it still prompts me asking to restart deskbar-applet.

Mostly what I expect is for the following fragment of /usr/bin/ubiquity to
remove some applets to save memory, but it doesn't seem to do anything useful:
for session_process in ('evolution-alarm-notify',
'gnome-cups-icon',
'restricted-manager',
'update-notifier'):
subprocess.call(['gnome-session-remove',
 session_process])
(even when it is run. It only seems to run by default if
   arch == 'powerpc/ps3')
