[Bug 150187] Re: [gutsy] [regression] Evince has very bad quality when printing pdf files.
I must admit that I can't reproduce the bug, but I remember a similar problem I had years ago. It seems that the printing/display problems have something to do with documents, which were created with some sort of TeX. You must know that font-handling (embedding) is often a cause for problems. There are T1 (Type 1 = good, don't confuse it with T1 font encoding in your LaTeX source ;-) and T3 fonts. T3 are only the ugly bitmap fonts - I have seen (Alt + Enter in evince; than fonts dialog) that some of the PDFs aren't properly created. So please check your TeX/LaTeX/LyX-setup (I have installed texlive- fonts-recommended, -extra, -font-utils, and from universe the packages cm-super and lmodern) and your font settings in your sources / LyX- setup. Now the question is why do acroread, evince, kpdf show different output? Perhaps it is how they handle problems with fonts. I don't know, but it could be a possibility. -- [gutsy] [regression] Evince has very bad quality when printing pdf files. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150187 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to poppler in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 122208] Re: Mouse sensitivity acceleration settings reversed
Hi! I just stumbled onto this same issue. At the minimum, the help should be updated, to clarify this. The term acceleration is used for non-linear mouse movement since decades. (see below) If you really must use the word acceleration for the mouse/pointer speed ratio, then this must be clear at least in the help. About the term Sensitivity: the help is completely useless. It just says the same thing (Sensitivity), just surrounding it with some words: this is a setting, you change it with this slider, it applies to the mouse. Well, even a newbie user can figure this out on his own. And finally, this means there is no actual acceleration* in ubuntu ? Would creating a RFE make sense ? * - as in : same mouse movement (same distance) makes larger pointer movement, if done faster (that is the user moves the mouse faster) PS: I notice significant negative acceleration when the Acceleration setting is 0 to 25 % (that is anywhere in the first quarter of its range, from the Slow to the right). (Sensitivity is set to maximum (High). By negative acceleration I mean: the movement over the same physical distance with the mouse causes lower point movement distance when the mouse is moved faster. Example: - move the mouse slowly to the right one inch: the pointer moves 200 pixels to the right - move the mouse faster to the right, but the same distance as before, one inch : the pointer moves only 100 pixels to the right PPS: And at settings about 50%, there is positive acceleration. [Bug 141603] Re: Calender messes up when changing timezone
@cyfer -- thank you for your bug report, and sorry it took so long for us to get to it. This is a known issue on up-to-date Evolution-Data- Server, and I am marking it as such. Recently this has been brought up to the forefront in the evolution- hackers mailing list, and we can hope we will have a solution soon. Basically, what happens is existing calendar entries are not updated on a timezone change (or an equivalent daylight change); currently pretty much the only option is a manual adjustment of each entry -- which is not even near been an optimal bypass --. There are many reported bugs in LP (few) and bugzilla (many) dealing with this, either fully or partially matching your situation. Since I have not yet found a good existing previous bug as an exact match on LP, I am accepting yours, and setting an affects to the upstream bug (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301363). ** Changed in: evolution-data-server (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: evolution = evolution-data-server Importance: Undecided = Medium Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: New = Triaged ** Also affects: evolution-data-server via http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301363 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- Calender messes up when changing timezone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/141603 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 36189] Re: applets mixed up
Re: Franck wrote on 2007-10-25 I'm not even sure what the real problem is. Is it the right policy to move the panels to the new screen? I personally like to start the applications on my laptop LCD screen, and pull it to the new screen (which is next to it, not overlapping) and full screen them there. For a presentation it makes sense. The audience is not interested in my panel.
