[Bug 231399] Re: rhythmbox will not play music from cd

2008-06-10 Thread bingnet
Same problem here. I had meddled with ALSA and PulseAudio settings,
since upgrading to Hardy, while trying to make audio capture work. I was
unsuccessful, and may have broken Rhythmbox somehow. I have also messed
with codecs and the medibuntu repo since then, trying to fix DVD
playback, which was successful, but also may have broken Rhythmbox. Is
there any conf I can upload that will help?

[Bug 239033] [NEW] disk-mounter applet calls gnome-cd to play audio cdrom

2008-06-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In 8.04, gnome-cd does not exist. I created /usr/local/bin/gnome-cd to
call rhythmbox, and it works. Although it does not start playing by
default, if this is possible at all (without configuring rhythmbox to
play by default after startup).

Also Nautilus calls rhythmbox (configurable), Places menu calls Audio CD
Extractor (configurable?), and applet calls gnome-cd for the SAME
action.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Ubuntu hardy heron final with KDE3 installed
libgtk2.0-0: 2.12.9-3ubuntu4
kdesktop: 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu7.2

Step to reproduce the bug:
In KDE, Open the file dialog in any GTK application(say gedit), regardless of
the location in the file system, double-click on the last button in the path
bar which should represent the current folder .

What was expected:
Either nothing should happen or the contents of the current folder should be
refreshed.

What happened instead:
Each item in the current folder is listed twice.

I was able to reproduce the bug consistently on 2 machines, I tried the
same sequence in gnome but it works properly.

[Bug 232238] [NEW] "sudo debconf gnome-panel" does not restore panels back to default in Hardy

2008-06-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Another command has gone missing, once upgraded to Hardy: Resetting
gnome panel in 8.04 seems to be more destructive than in 7.10:

In 7.10 if you lost your panels (gnome-panels) or just wanted to reset them to
defaults you would have to run:

sudo debconf gnome-panel

In 8.04, certain things are a little different, you must remove the following
directories to reset the panels:

rm -fr .gconf/ .gconfd/ .gnome2/ .gnome2_private/

Is it possible to bring back, or to let me know if there is a replacement
command to reset the panels in 8.04.

I just downloaded the new ubuntu (8.04 LTS) and I am missing Amorak sorely

This is really bad news for Linux and I am gutted for that reason - we do not

I won't bother to break it down as this is is a waste of time - everyone
was saying this would happen and I just forgot.

go to your home dir.

in the first folder('a'), make a new file, edit it (enter simple text, It can

create duplicates of this file in the same folder('a') (instead of creating new

How I came across this:

In the Nautilus file-manager, I accidentally deleted my 50gb ~/data
folder (right-click-> Move to Deleted Items Folder). When I accessed the
Trash and tried to restore this by dragging and dropping back into my
home directory, it reported that I didn't have enough disk-space
available, even though I was trying to restore this to the same
location/partition. I had 14gb remaining in ~. I had to manually restore
this folder by going to ~/.local/share/Trash/files/ and moving the
folder back to ~.

I can also confirm this program for programs other than totem.
Had this happen with a few other programs like Audacity, wine, GoogleEarth.

At the moment I have

$ ps aux | grep audacity
yamkaof 6484 0.0 1.9 44156 19976 ?DJun10 0:00 audacity

The program went into this state right after starting it, without even
opening the main window. Same with 'pq' from the universe repositories
using wine. Wine itself could be killed, but not the exe it was running.

Re: [Bug 199088] Re: [Hardy] Message: "Suspend Problem. Your computer failed to suspend"

2008-06-10 Thread darthsabbath
Shane,

I'm not a dev or even a Linux expert, so I don't know if this will
cause any future problems, but I at least got rid of the beeping by
unchecking the box labeled "Use sound to notify in event of error" in
System->Preferences->Power Management->General.  Once I did this I no
longer got the beep on resume, although I have tried it in a few days
since I'm back in Windows due to school :-(

Hope this helps.

[Bug 233913] [NEW] Gnome launcher drops http ?parameters

2008-06-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

A Gnome desktop launcher set up with a web location requiring parameters fails
to send those parameters in Hardy official release. Worked fine in Gutsy and
earlier.
Example: link in launcher contains>
http://www.towboatgallery.com/ardvark/ardgbeX.php?where=89CentN120
Link actually used is> http://www.towboatgallery.com/ardvark/ardgbeX.php
The ? and everything following it is dropped.
This is a consistent error, reproducible on four systems at this location.
This behavior is new in Hardy Heron.

[Bug 239049] [NEW] Account missing after evolution upgrade

2008-06-10 Thread Paul Kishimoto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

After upgrading to evolution, evolution-common and evolution-plugins
version 2.22.2-0ubuntu1.3 (from hardy-proposed), an IMAP mail account
disappeared.

- It no longer appears in Edit > Preferences > Mail Accounts.
- The folders containing the mail are still present in ~/.evolution/mail/imap
- In gconf-editor, /apps/evolution/mail/accounts (long description: "List of
accounts known to the mail component of Evolution. The list contains strings
naming subdirectories relative to /apps/evolution/mail/accounts.") is empty.

The account works fine after I re-add it. The gconf key mentioned above

[Bug 200337] Re: CD/DVD burning problem in hardy

2008-06-10 Thread Andy
The reason why its LOW is because being able to burn optical media or read
DVDs, or restore your backups
from a DVD in Ubuntu is NOT a priority. This is why this problem has existed
for several months now and is still set to low. If you want to burn CDs and
DVDs and restore your Backup from Data DVDs them maybe Ubuntu is not for you.
Get a Mac or maybe even Windows Vista Basic. Maybe you may have better luck
with a floppy drive if you must use removable media and Ubuntu Hardy on the
same computer.

[Bug 203527] Re: Clicking on clock applet hangs gnome-panel

2008-06-10 Thread crivic
hello,
I'm quite new about linux, but I had the same problem you are talking about.
Until yesterday no problems appear. But today I have worked on my hard disk
partitions and, i don't know why, clock applet starts give me trouble. I'm sure
befor work on my partitions, I didn't have any problem with this applet!
Reading this pages, i decided to try uninstal evolution. More over I was using
thunderbird.
After that, the applet starts working corretly again.

Thanks

[Bug 239001] [NEW] Failing to sychronise correctly with Palm device

2008-06-10 Thread Andrew Allcock
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Using Gnome Pilot I've been synchronising with Evolution. It has never
correctly synchronised the address book - it flatly refuses to
synchronise certain contacts no matter if I re-enter them! Recently it
failed to recognise the Palm completely so I deleted the device in Gnome
Pilot and reinstalled it as a new device for which it allocated a new
device ID. The address book bug is still there but now it selectively
synchronises calendar entries - will *only* synchronise events first
entered into the PDA if they are marked as "private". Hardy Heron.
Thanks.

There's still weird stuff happening.

Now, I uninstalled both facebook and zip export. At first, I got two

and one for zip export. With the second uninstall, only one of the two
messages appeared. Unfortunately I was puzzled enough to not take any
notes, so I don't remember which of the two assemblies failed loading
that time.

Then, I installed Facebook export again.
While installing, though, I got another warning about the Zip (!!) export
assembly being unloadable.
Remember: I uninstalled Zip export previously! It does neither appear in the
Export Menu, nor in the installed Extensions in the Extension Manager.

Facebook export works since. (Previously, f-spot crashed when I selected
it from the Export menu)

So I tried to continue by adding the Zip export add-in as well. The
installation gave twice the same error about the zip export assembly
(attaching a screen shot). Zip export did not show up in the Export menu
afterwards.

Hi Skippy,

I suggest that you post your hardware specs here as it seems there is a
serious incompatibility issue with your hardware.

[Bug 200337] Re: CD/DVD burning problem in hardy

2008-06-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
changing the settings will not really make the bug fixed faster, there
is thousand of bugs opened and a very small team to work on those, the
issue might be an annoying one but it's not a security bug nor destroy
user datas and seems to be specific to some hardware, it might be
annoying to you who have one of those though but that doesn't make the
bug a priority for the distribution

[Bug 238463] Re: URL handling in gnome-terminal

2008-06-10 Thread Matt Beaumont-Gay
That upstream bug is actually about the URL recognition code catching
*too much* text. It looks like the current behavior is "broken as
designed" -- since it's difficult (perhaps impossible) to tell the
difference between a continued URL and unrelated text on the next line,
gnome-terminal only considers the first line's worth as part of the URL.
I'd like the opposite behavior (grab text until space or tab), but I can
see how it would be reasonable to prefer the current behavior.

A full re-install of Ubuntu 8.04 did not resolve this problem: random
dbus crashes occurred within hours of logging into the freshly-installed
copy.
