[Bug 239931] [NEW] Please make it possible to have more than four keyboard layouts
Public bug reported: I'd like to be able to toggle between more than four keyboard layouts. My current layout is US English. I sometimes switch to US International when I want to type accented characters, as well as ©®¿¡, etc. I'm learning Dvorak, so my third layout is US Dvorak. Finally, I sometimes need to type Greek and Hebrew, but I have to choose between the two since I can only have four layouts. Please remove the limit on the number of layouts. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Please make it possible to have more than four keyboard layouts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239931 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 201224] Re: epiphany has no menue entry in Hardy
Reopening. I just experienced this issue myself. The icon was not in the menu, but the .desktop file(s) existed, and an option was selected in System -> Preferences -> Main Menu. I unselected and reselected the option, and it immediately appeared in the Internet menu where it was meant to be in the first place. Sebastien Bacher mentioned in bug #237033 that this was not an epiphany-browser issue, but a known race condition. I have only seen this problem with epiphany. [Bug 239757] Re: Rhythmbox jams after other apps use ALSA
Geez get a grip man. I'm not surprised you get hundreds of bugs every day. I have solved my problem ... by switching to Audacious. "audio and video preference"?? wtf is that? Pardon my alarm, but do you have any notion of just how many preference dialogs are contained in the average Linux system? What do you want, chipsets and kernel drivers? and what does my video preference have to do with this? Rhythmbox only works at certain color depths or screen dot pitches? I was also under the impression that the "report bugs" menu item in the Rhythmbox Help menu would include attachments that would report my RELEVANT system configuration details and the state of the program at the time, but clearly that's the two hundred and first bug of the day. FWIW, I checked, and the 'preferences' dialog on your software does not include ANY audio OR video preferences. "what audio and video preference is configured in system, preferences, sounds, audio and video? does using alsa there fixes your issue?" neither of these questions parse. My initial report clearly says I am using alsa and use aoss and all the other alsa apps, including Audacious, work fine together, only Rhythmbox fails, and this is a new situation, it worked fine until recent Ubuntu updates on 8.04. Sorry if that is not short and clear enough for you. Stupid me, I thought I'd be doing you a favour by reporting the new holes in your software, especially a show-stopper like "does not play well with others", especially something so specific as a short timeline that would need to be within a small set of update patches, but clearly I'm wrong, so I'll stop wasting your precious time and let you get on with those 199 other new bug reports. [Bug 235878] Re: Incorrect case for a folder path on a fat-formated volume creates a duplicate folder
That is unfortunate. Now that I am aware of this behavior, it is easy enough to work around, I just wish that I hadn't learned by losing data. The only thing I can suggest is to try again with upstream. Perhaps "bump" the message on the 16th, 1 week from original posting. It may have gotten lost among pre-existing discussions of ongoing debate on the list. On the mailing list, you said, "I've noticed this bug has been reported in the past, and that on the bug-page it was mentioned that if this bug were to show up again to e-mail the list." Do you have a link to the past bug report in Gnome's bugzilla? Linking to the bugzilla report that you saw might also be helpful to anyone considering a response on the mailing list, if you choose to "bump." Out of curiosity, I notice that this bug is marked "incomplete." I am unsure of the criteria for each of the various "status" options, so I'm imagining, without having all of the information, what is required to change a bug's status from "incomplete" to "confirmed." Does it require several users to notice the same behavior? If so, then another user has reported identical behavior in the forum post that I have linked to in the original report. Does it require that upstream acknowledge the bug? If so, then it seems we are back to waiting for the nautilus mailing list. I think this scenario is pretty easy to duplicate, but please let me know if any additional information is required, and I will be happy to assist. Finally, one additional note: If one follows the youtube video exactly, deleting /fat/oh-no, and causing /fat/Oh-no to be deleted, if one then decides to create a new folder, /fat/Oh-no following the deletion, this creation of /fat/Oh-no will also "respawn" /fat/oh-no automatically. The only way that I could find to end this behavior was to log out of gnome, return to GDM and log back in. In summary, it appears as though nautilus "remembers" the duplicate state of a previously deleted folder affected by this issue while in the same gnome session. As you might imagine, this made it take longer to get a "clean" video of this behavior in action. I share this anecdote in hopes that it might help track down the source of the issue. Thank you both for your efforts, I will check back periodically. -- Incorrect case for a folder path on a fat-formated volume creates a duplicate folder https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235878 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. [Bug 213053] Re: Totem is 'uninterruptible'
I've noticed this happen twice now, on Ubuntu 8.04, where Totem gets into an unkillable state after I try to exit it at the end of a movie. The first time I left the system running for days, but totem never exited, just runs and runs burning CPU. Running "kill -9" as root on the process does nothing. I had not seen this before installing the 64-bit version of 8.04, though I can't confirm that this is related. $ uname -a Linux server 2.6.24-18-generic #1 SMP Wed May 28 19:28:38 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux I attempted to 'strace' the process, but that didn't provide any useful output. $ ps -ef | grep totem username 17864 1 60 10:02 ?02:18:51 totem file:///home/username/movie.avi $ strace -vp 17864 Process 17864 attached - interrupt to quit I waited 5 minutes, but nothing. Seems odd, as the process is clearly eating up 100% of the CPU on one of my cores. I wasn't able to ctrl-c out of strace, I had to ctrl-z then "kill -9". "kill -15" did not kill the strace. This errant totem process does not happen every time I watch a movie with totem, but it has happened twice in the past week, with different movies. To duplicate, I'd try running and stopping totem a few dozen times. The only way to end this process that I've found so far is a reboot. >From reading above, it sounds like this is unrelated to totem, but to be complete: $ totem --version GNOME totem 2.22.1 -- Totem is 'uninterruptible' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213053 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
