[Bug 236953] Re: gedit crashes browsing sftp mount on open/save file
I'm using emerald / clearlooks. I just created a new user account and left all the themes etc. as default, added the bookmark and I can replicate the same behaviour. I also added the bookmark to my desktop machine (I first noticed it on my laptop) and the behaviour is the same. Both use the nvidia driver. I haven't had a chance to get the trace using the above packages - some updates recently required the removal of gvfs-dbgsym, but I'll post it here as soon as I have. -- gedit crashes browsing sftp mount on open/save file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236953 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

(I started in the duplicate bug page, for the same problem with ntfs partitions) Really appreciate that someone(s) is/are attempting to fix this issue. But... [Bug 242277] [NEW] Using GIMP to translate speech balloons
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp Hi, Yesterday I tried to translate a comic to my language, and I found out that doing it with the GIMP was less easy than I had expected. I had to choose the right letter size for the text to fit inside the bubble, but not look too small. I had to manage line breaks and put extra spaces at the beginning of certain lines. All in all, it was more complex than it should. Is there a way that GIMP could handle this itself? Speech bubbles have a very clean and definite area, so taking into account this area and the text input, couldn't GIMP calculate the best text size and layout to fit the bubble? I was thinking something like this: -You double-click the "Text" tool to get its options. There you find a "speech bubble" checkbox, that you check. -Then, your cursor acts as a mix between the text tool and the magic wand. You click somewhere inside the bubble and GIMP recognises the whole area as a speech bubble. -You type the text, and GIMP arranges it to fit the area. Maybe there could be a couple extra options, to occupate only 70 percent of the area (in case you want to make text look smaller, for example) or even set a specific font size, and let GIMP only take care of the layout. I don't know if it really makes sense or can be done at all, but it's something that could come in handy to many people. ** Affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Using GIMP to translate speech balloons https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242277 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 242289] [NEW] Jamendo streaming issues: Can't skip to further back in recording; Doesn't buffer enough before playing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox When streaming a recording from Jamendo, I can't use the slider to rewind and continue playback (regardless of whether it's paused or playing when I move the slider). This is quite annoying, more so because of the other problem... The Internet's running very slowly at the moment. If a song's bitrate is too high, so that it can't be downloaded quickly enough, it just keeps pausing erratically. It would be nice if Rhythmbox would detect how download a sufficient buffer so that large files can be played continuously without breaks. Failing that, it would be nice if I could at least manually pause playback, rewind to the beginning, and wait until I guess enough will have been loaded before starting playback. On this line of thought, a nice feature would be an indicator of how much of the file has streamed (in the same way as, for example, the youtube.com player does). [Bug 242312] [NEW] HARDY: Genome panel takes more than 10 min to load or do not load at all
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel It takes more than 10 min. to load gnome panel. and takes all my cpu Nautilus works and I can start programs with no problems. As I update my system in a daily basis, I assume this problem was introduced in the last update, Friday 20 June 2008. What I have tried until now with no success: - Stop the trash applet - stop gvfsd-trash - Reset configuration settings of gnome - Stop nautilus - Stop nm-applet I am attaching a backtrace of a session where the panel did not load at all. [Bug 242149] Re: Clicking 'Up' or 'Back' whilst generating thumbnails does not change location URL
I don't think a screenshot will explain it better, but I'll have a go at being clearer with my description. Say I'm in /home/dan/Images/ and I click into the subfolder 'Wallpapers'. The location bar obviously reads /home/dan/Images/Wallpapers and I can see my wallpaper images. If I let the thumbnails generate to completion, then click 'Up' or 'Back' then I go back to Images, the location bar reads /home/dan/Images/, and everything is back to how it was before I entered 'Wallpapers'. Fine. Say again I'm in /home/dan/Images/ and I click into the subfolder 'Wallpapers'. If however I click 'Up' or 'Back' before the thumbnails finish generating, the nautilus content window goes back to displaying the list of files/folders in /home/dan/Images/, but the location bar still reads /home/dan/Images/Wallpapers. Performing actions from here behaves as if I were in /home/dan/Images/Wallpapers, such that if I click 'Up', everything is restored to /home/dan/Images/, or if I click on the subfolder 'Wallpapers', nothing happens because there is no folder /home/dan/Images/Wallpapers/Wallpapers. To replicate you'll obviously need a folder with a few images, but it should be very simple to do, unless there is something specific about my system that's causing the issue (I certainly can't think of anything that could). -- Clicking 'Up' or 'Back' whilst generating thumbnails does not change location URL https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242149 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 242346] [NEW] Select/Deselect All is gone
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: sound-juicer Their used to be an option to select/deselect all songs in Sound Juicer: above the column with the select-arrows, you had (in the row with "Title" and "Artist") an extra select-arrow that allowed you to select/deselect all songs to rip. Now you have to do this manually, which isn't quite handy. [Bug 242149] Re: Clicking 'Up' or 'Back' whilst generating thumbnails does not change location URL
a screenshot would make clear what bar you are talking about, the bar at the top of the screen describe the path using buttons, example [directory] [subdirectory] is displayed when browsing subdirectory, when you go up you get the [directory] button selected but [subdirectory] still displayed, that's the expected way and not specific to directory which have images, is that what you consider the bug? -- Clicking 'Up' or 'Back' whilst generating thumbnails does not change location URL https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242149 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 242355] [NEW] username in webdav location causes error
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gvfs Using Ubuntu 8.04, gvfs-0.2.4-0ubuntu1 When entering this in the location bar: "davs://udrive.oit.umass.edu//" Connecting to our University's webdav server works fine via Nautilus. It asks for both username and password, and displays the contents. However, when trying: "davs://@udrive.oit.umass.edu//" It correctly asks for just the password, but then gives this error: Couldn't display "davs://@udrive.oit.umass.edu/". Error: HTTP Error: Not Found Please select another viewer and try again. [Bug 206892] Re: .config .theme .index files can't be opened
e.g. in KDE as well, just make a new (invalid) .desktop file: right click on desktop, new, text file. Name it "test1.desktop" - and try to edit it - at least I can't do it easily. If you doubleclick it - you get the error "... hast no entry "Type=..." - which is ok, but you can't EDIT it. e.g. Bob is a developer, opens a (valid) .desktop file, unknowingly changes a part (into invalid) and saves it. Now he wants to correct his errors within KDE/GNOME easily. It could be done with a VERY simple Konqueror/Nautilus servicemenu. -- .config .theme .index files can't be opened https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/206892 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 242149] Re: Clicking 'Up' or 'Back' whilst generating thumbnails does not change location URL
The bug is common to using either the text location bar or the button location bar - I was describing the problem with the standard URL location bar. The display of a button for subfolder just exited is expected behaviour, but the location is indicated by a depressed button, which under normal circumstances moves to the parent folder upon exit. The problem occurs after entering the subfolder either with a double- click or right-clicking the folder and selecting 'Open'. Again, the behaviour is exactly as expected when the thumbnails are allowed to finish loading. If they do not, the 'Up'/'Back' button serve only to update the main contents window, not the functional location of the nautilus window. -- Clicking 'Up' or 'Back' whilst generating thumbnails does not change location URL https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242149 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Ok, the spacing didn't come out quite as I had hoped, but hopefully you can decipher it as four columns: URL, Action, New URL, Folder whose contents is displayed. -- Clicking 'Up' or 'Back' whilst generating thumbnails does not change location URL https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242149 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
