[Bug 242618] Re: Nautilus and other gnome apps using incorrect umask for new directories
My usage scenario: A server contains a directory owned by group 'collab', which is group writeable and has the setgid bit set. This means that all new directories created underneath it will also be owned by group 'collab'. The server is set up with accounts for users whose desktop systems automatically mount this directory using sshfs so that it appears on their local desktop. The idea is that everyone who is in the 'collab' group on the server should be able to add and delete files and directories from this folder. The umask on each user's desktop system must be set to create all new files and directories group- writeable, which this bug prevents from happening correctly. As a result, a new directory created by a user using Hardy isn't writeable by the other members of the 'collab' group until the group permission is manually corrected. Please let me know if anything here doesn't make sense. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. [Bug 243222] [NEW] Evince crashes with Segfault when opening the same PDF repeatedly
Public bug reported: Evince crashes when opening the same pdf file repeatedly and thereby refreshing the view on this file. Steps to reproduce: 1. Get a PDF file. For example http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/pdfs/pdfaccess.pdf works. 2. Open a terminal 3. Type in: $ evince pdfaccess.pdf & 4. Watch evince start and load the PDF-file. Switch focus back to the terminal and go back to Step 3 and repeat. When doing Step 3 like 25 times, evince eventually crashes with "Segmentation fault". Curiously, on my system for this PDF, exactly 25 repetitions are needed. For different PDF files, e.g. only 7 repetitions are needed, but for each file the number of repetitions needed stays constant. [Bug 148565] This is taking some time...
This bug has been reported 9 months ago, and the bug itself has been around much longer. Why isn't this fixed? As a problem scenario, I might have installed Xara Xpress 4 through the default wine configuration (~/.wine), and then decided to move this directory afterwards (because I want to keep the installs clean and separate). I place all my different wine installs into /local/apps, i.e. /local/apps/Photoshop, /local/apps/Cæsar3, etc. The only change I really need to do to make it work, is to update the launcher in the Gnome menu, but as we all know, this does not work! [Bug 241578] Re: cant browse windows shares on local lan [hardy]
I have related problem. On first install of Hardy after its release, networking was brilliant (kudos to developers) including wireless through USB port. After recent updates, Places / Network / Windows Network shows MSHOME but selecting that shows no entries. Bookmarks I had already established still work fine and browsing to an explicit Samba address (eg smb://lacie2/share/ for one of the NAS drives) works too. Thunderbird was sharing its mail folder on the Windows machine but now requires me to mount that folder before it can see it. Other comments are in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=5264806&posted=1#post5264806 I use linksys wireless router which runs local DHCP service and is gateway to cable modem. NAS drives are on fixed IP addresses, Printer, Ubuntu laptop, windows XP desktop and windows XP laptop are dynamic IP. -- cant browse windows shares on local lan [hardy] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241578 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
