[Bug 185165] Re: Ubuntu does not open MS Windows internet shortcuts with 'url' extension
I can confirm this bug - it is a long standing issue over several Ubuntu releases. It is (in my opinion, as one migrating from windoze) a major impediment to useability of ubuntu for those people switching operating systems. It seems really daft that something as simple as clicking on existing internet shortcuts is not supported. ** Also affects: seahorse (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - enigmail asks twice for gpg password + seahorse asks twice for gpg key password ** Description changed: Binary package hint: enigmail Recently I've installed Hardy. When I'm sending an email with Thunderbird, Enigmail asks twice for my gpg password, even though I've typed it correctly. This happens on Enigmail from Ubuntu package, and on the one downloaded from addons.mozilla.org. Same version of enigmail worked properly on Gutsy so it might be a Thunderbird bug. + + Edit: it's a seahorse issue. Re: [Bug 244631] Re: too many open files
I have a pop, an imap and an exchange mailbox. My understanding is that exchange is stupid and makes the user scan all the files server side and locally to see if there is mail so maybe it's scanning across all mail. Other problematic things that I do are to never delete email from the server or locally and check mail every 1 minute. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. Re: [Bug 191475] Re: [hardy] media tab in file management preferences missing applications
I'm not sure how different packages identify themselves as being a media player; perhaps this bug should be filed against the VLC package for not registering itself somwhere? I still want an option at the bottom of the list "Run this command" so I can have some completely different program start, such as k9copy.. And I still want the menu to be duplicated under System > Preferences > Removable Drives and Media" where it used to be. I still strongly believe that's the most 'intuitive' place people will look for it. And even if it wasn't, I also think that it's not a good idea for Ubuntu to make such confusing changes to the interface just when we're starting to get 'non-geeks' learning to use the OS. 2008/7/8 Philippe Piquer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > I also had to dig deep into Google to find a correct answer (at least one > that work) for VLC. > So resolving this important for Mr Everybody. > > > http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Hardy#How_to_make_VLC_open_when_you_insert_a_DVD > > -- > [hardy] media tab in file management preferences missing applications > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191475 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of the bug. > -- This email is for the intended recipient only. [Bug 121090] Re: Evolution fails to download some gmail emails
I've tried doing backup/restore with partial success. >From evolution menu: file -> backup settings, then switch to fresh unix account, start evolution and choose restore from first-run wizard. Restore process took some time, as my inbox is quite large. And it worked, I mean I was able to receive new messages. Few mails have vanished in the restore process as I counted all folders before. However vanished messages was either junk (mainly) or from mailing lists (just one or two), so it was acceptable. Then I tried to do the same on my normal unix account. I deleted ~/.evolution and .gconf/apps/evolution and started evolution. Wizard pop up, I've choosen restore -- my messages and settings were restored (this time more junk vanished), but unfortunately the problem didn't disapear -- I'm still unable to see new received messages. -- Evolution fails to download some gmail emails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121090 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 99015] Re: shuffle doesn't work in queue
There are still two usability bugs here, then. 1) The Shuffle and Repeat buttons should not even exist in Queue view if they can't be used, and they certainly shouldn't be able to be toggled. That is completely counter-intuitive 2) There should be a way for the user to pick a bunch of songs without the hassle of grabbing them in order or thinking about the order without having to make a playlist. I agree with Duncan (and this bug/wishlist item). It would be really useful to have Windows buttons assigned to the menu. It seems to be a common annoyance that it isn't. Surely the user could always map it to something else Phantom? I can't see how a default mapping would be worse for the user. I have found the same issue, however in my experience removing all locations (of which I had only one) solved the problem to some extent. There is still a short lag between clicking the clock and the calendar appearing, during which time the Window list is also frozen, but the calendar does appear, which was not the case before. I'm loathe to try uninstalling Evolution, as the calendar in the panel is useful to have easily at hand. [Bug 114341] Re: Disk Usage Analyzer does not detect files in the directory
Sorry, but you're wrong. This is a bug in the UI design. It's a disk usage analyzer. If I "scan home", baobob should be able to indicate to me that there are large files in my home directory taking up space. I'm not asking you to show me the files directly - just make the UI clearer so that you can see that there is file usage IN home. You should treat the root of the tree differently from sub-directories, since otherwise you'll never be able to make it clear that you're counting it. "100%" is useless and duplicative information - you should change that to show the actual *contents* of the home directory. Get a UI designer involved in the project and get his or her advice if you don't like mine. -- Disk Usage Analyzer does not detect files in the directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114341 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 114341] Re: Disk Usage Analyzer does not detect files in the directory
As I explained few posts before, this is not a bug. If you scan your HOME folder, the first entry is always 100% as it is the "root" of the subsequent tree. All the subfolders to HOME refers in percentage how much space they use vs. the HOME 100%. That's normal. If you want to see how much space is using HOME folder vs. the total filesystem, run a full File System Scan. Further, Baobab show only usage of folders, not of files (there is Nautilus for this). i.e.: if you have just one folder in HOME directory, which is using 20% of space, ther remaining 80% of space is in home/reubenf folder. ** Changed in: gnome-utils (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- Disk Usage Analyzer does not detect files in the directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114341 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hi, Very similiar problem as mine. The interesting part (in my case) is that evolution actually downloads the message, but after that it is not shown in Inbox (it is there -- I can see the message via web-interface).
