[Bug 209714] Re: gnome-open incorrectly uses eince to open pdf files even after I select Acroread as the default handler in nautilus
Confirmed here. I have epdfviewer as the default app to open pdf docs in Nautilus. but gnome-open will always use Evince. To be honest, I couldn't care less about this bug but Gnome-Do apparently uses gnome-open to open docs. so I'll still suffer Evince until the bug is fixed or Gnome-do dropping gnome-open. -- gnome-open incorrectly uses eince to open pdf files even after I select Acroread as the default handler in nautilus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/209714 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 159263] Re: Gnome-screensaver does not stay on
I am having the same problem. I am using Ubuntu Hardy Heron with all packages updated. This problem started occurring about two to three weeks ago. I have not touched the settings in gnome-screensaver since Gutsy or maybe even Feisty. gnome-screensaver was working perfectly fine for awhile in Hardy. I think one of the updates ruined it. [Bug 246906] [NEW] switching user in Gnome impossible
Public bug reported: First let me say that I believe that the following bug is NOT a duplicate of Bug 160264 although it might seem very similar at first look. I have the following problem: In Gnome (Hardy 8.04) I cannot switch the user twice without logging out. It neither works with the user-switcher nor via the menu (in contrast to the bug report Bug 160264). In addition it does not seem to be related to compiz, because compiz is switched off for both users. Nevertheless, the behaviour is similar to bug 160264: Switching once works without problems. When I try to switch back, I get a black screen but I can see the mouse cursor. In difference to Bug 160264 and similar bug reports, the screen remains black, even after entering the password at the position where the cursor becomes a text-cursor. In fact, entering the password works, because after that I can blindly (using alt-f2) start some applications, but the screen still remains black. I have found no single way to get back a normal screen and thus no way to switch users which is a rather severe bug in my eyes. My Grafik Card is according to my online-manual (which provides me with two options...) Intel 945GM/940GML Graphics (DVMT 64/128MB). [Bug 230518] Re: copying files to sony ericsson w810i does not work
I have the same behaviour. Gutsy worked very well, Hardy does not. I cannot copy filed over bluetooth, cannot create directory. It is strange that deleting files and folders works. Tried for nokia 6300 and nokia 6230i. Sending files (via send file) over bluetooth aplet works correctly. @A. Walton: That's just plain silly in my opinion. If the file system doesn't support 'proper' permissions that's none of our business. That's the file system I choose to use, I know it's limitations. It's all fine for the Linux world to try and solve this - but it's not a *nix problem. It's a windows one. [Bug 246996] [NEW] Audio device cannot be accessed by Ekiga when certain sound events are enabled in GNOME Sound Prefs
Public bug reported: When you have the "Select check box" and "Click on command button" sound events in GNOME assigned to anything other than "No sound" in System->Preferences->Sound->Sounds, Ekiga cannot access the audio device and fails with the following error: "Failed to open device. Impossible to open the selected audio device (Default) for playing. Please check your audio setup, the permissions and that the device is not busy". Observed under Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 and Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions tested with identical results. Steps to reproduce: --- Phase 1 - Confirm normal operation - Vanilla Ubuntu has no sounds set in System->Preferences->Sound->Sounds by default except for the login/logout events. - Load Ekiga and go to Edit->Configuration Druid. - Click Forward until you get to the "Audio Devices - 7/10" page. - Leave audio output & input options as "Default". - Click on the "Test Settings" button. Test window will appear and will record and playback audio as expected. - Close Ekiga. Phase 2 - Reproduce the bug - Go to System->Preferences->Sound->Sounds. - Assign a sound file to the "Select check box" event. - Log out of Gnome and back in again so the change takes effect. - Load Ekiga and go to Edit->Configuration Druid. - Click Forward until you get to the "Audio Devices - 7/10" page. - Leave audio output & input options as "Default". - Click on the "Test Settings" button. Test window will NOT appear and you get an error dialog saying "Failed to open device". - Close Ekiga. Phase 3 - correct the bug - Go back to System->Preferences->Sound->Sounds. - Assign "No sound" to the "Select check box" event. Test window will appear and will record and playback audio as expected. - Close Ekiga. Phase 4 - reproduce the second bug - Go to System->Preferences->Sound->Sounds. - Assign a sound file to the "Click on command button" event. Phase 5 - prove that the other events do not impact Ekiga - Go to System->Preferences->Sound->Sounds. - Assign a sound file to EVERY event EXCEPT for the "Select check box" and "Click on command button" events. Test window will appear and will record and playback audio as expected. - Close Ekiga. I'm guessing that the audio device is indeed being kept busy under those two sound events, so the bug is likely to be in the GNOME Sound Prefs app rather than Ekiga. ** Affects: ekiga (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Audio device cannot be accessed by Ekiga when certain sound events are enabled in GNOME Sound Prefs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246996 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to ekiga in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I agree that nautilus could, in these circumstances, tell im Mb how the current copy process exceed the available size. This would help the final user. However, unless I'm wrong, I think that we can't do anything about the main problem : according to the file system and the quantity of files to copy from a filesystem to another, the final available size can always differ. At least we can make this easier for the final user by showing how many Mb should be removed from the copy selection. -- Error while copying, not enough space https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/247012 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
