[Bug 259930] Re: gnome-terminal keeps tabs in memory

2008-08-20 Thread Michael Lustfield
Same thing still happens.

Here's how I test.

Open two tabs.
In tab #1, cp ~/test/15_GB_File ~/test/Another_File
In tab #2, watch du -h ~/test/*
Close tab #1

The watch will show you that the file is still growing.

I tried both methods of closing the terminal.

I know it's with gnome-terminal and not my laptop. I've seen this happen
on other systems as well.

[Bug 259844] [NEW] Samba share permissions not migrated to Intrepid, not working?

2008-08-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: samba

Before migrating to Intrepid, had a windows share connected, both via
/etc/fstab, (as a cifs volume) for use with all apps, and as a Samba
share, (with login info stored in the Keyring) for use in Places. In
Intrepid, the /etc/fstab version still works, but the Samba share no
longer does - i.e. I can see it, can try to connect to it, at which
point it shows up on my desktop, (as it did with Hardy - was always a
little flukey there, as well - only showed up on my desktop when I
actively tried to connect to it rather than all the time) and then
prompts me for login credentials to the Windows box. First glitch is
that I would have expected the Hardy settings to be migrated over to
Intrepid, so it would "just work." 2nd glitch is that when I enter the
appropriate credentials, it just keeps bouncing back at me and not
connecting, (i.e. as if I had entered incorrect credentials, though I'm
almost positive I'm entering the correct ones - only possible weirdness
is that the Windows username is 2 words, but have tried with no quotes,
single quotes and double quotes, none of which work).

[Bug 185752] Re: dbus and f-spot not does not start f-spot

2008-08-20 Thread Hooya
This bug is still happening. I am running a 64 bit install of Ubuntu
Hardy, but log in to a Fluxbox window manager (no Gnome Session
running). I have not removed any of the Gnome packages, although many
things typically running in the background in Gnome may not be running
in my Fluxbox session. It does start if I run dbus-launch f-spot.

I'll try it in a Gnome session in a moment. dbus-X11 is installed.
Creating the 15dbus file mentioned above does not solve the problem for
me. My system is up to date.

My error is more or less identical to the ones posted above but I'll put
it here for completeness.

An unhandled exception was thrown: F-Spot cannot find the Dbus session
bus. Make sure dbus is configured properly or start a new session for

[Bug 259930] [NEW] gnome-terminal keeps tabs in memory

2008-08-20 Thread Michael Lustfield
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04. I regularly use gnome-terminal for a large
majority of my terminal emulator usage.

If I open two tabs, start two tasks in each, such as copying 15GB which
I occasionally do, then close that tab via the X, the tab is closed and
can't be returned to - but the system resources are still being hogged
up. I'm pretty sure that activity is still going on too.

This isn't usually much of an issue. However, in instances where the
task is system intensive and keeps running, it is a problem.

Also, using the exit command does seem to kill the tab.

[Bug 257460] Re: first instance opens on first desktop even if its not the current desktop

2008-08-20 Thread zsquareplusc
8.04 hardy

i think i once tried to save a nautilus for the session, so that it
opens on login. that never worked, no window opens. that would explain
why it is opening the window on the 1st workspace at a fixed position.

i noticed that when a window is opened before the login is finished
(e.g. USB storage) it applies the positioning to that window.

so the explanation would be that it saved the nautilus window settings
in the session but does not open the window. IMHO it either should open
the window or not apply the settings.

[Bug 184711] Re: network-admin error: The interface does not exist

2008-08-20 Thread goo25
Same problem, the weird thing is that I can connect to skype and make
phone calls, but not firefox or konqueror works. I cannot ping to a
host other than my gateway, and the nm-applet shows 100% connected.
Probably it's related with route tables not pointing where they should.
It´s a pain now not to have internet. Anyone had a solution for this or
a way to keep up with internet?

Yes, at least Hardy still displays deceptive filenames. I tried this on

later broke when I updated it, I'll have to investigate that before I
can test on a newer version), and it had the same issue.

[Bug 154096] Re: Print options shouldn't be saved across different sessions

2008-08-20 Thread Noam Raphael
Thanks to Sebastien's instructions on how to get the source and play with it, I
managed to fix the bug.
It required only 25 additional characters in the source!

It turns out that the code to load and save the print settings to a file
is surrounded by "#if" directives, which check for a large enough
version of GTK (in version 2.11.0, a feature to save and load the print
settings was added to GTK). I changed "#if GTK_CHECK_VERSION (2, 11, 0)"
into "#if 0 && GTK_CHECK_VERSION (2, 11, 0)" in five places, and it
works perfectly now.

I guess that at the end the code should be removed altogether, but
currently it works very nicely.

I attached the diff.

Have a good day,
Noam

[Bug 259886] [NEW] seahorse can't get Allways Access to the (default) keyring

2008-08-20 Thread Thomas van der Burgt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu.
Description:Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
Release:8.10

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy packagename'
or by checking in Synaptic.
seahorse: 2.23.90-0ubuntu1
libgnome-keyring0: 2.23.90-0ubuntu1

3) What you expected to happen & 4) What happened instead
I wanted to delete several passwords from the system, when I deleted the first
a dialog asked if I allowed seahorse access to the default key ring, I answer
"Always Allow". I expected to not see this dialog again when deleting
passwords, but when I deleted another password the same question was asked

This does not seem like a seahorse bug but I don't know where to file it
against. The only sensible dependency of seahorse was libgnome-keyring.

[Bug 259875] [NEW] Crashs by opening Video

2008-08-20 Thread Martin Kaufmann
Public bug reported:

Totem crashs when opening Video with the following error:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ totem
The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 54 error_code 2 request_code 140 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 259852] [NEW] Gimp 2.4.6-1ubuntu1~hardy1 forgets opening location after saving to another location

2008-08-20 Thread d1s4st3r
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

This is formerly not a bug, it's rather a bad behavior. To reproduce it,
try this:

1) open Gimp and point to a path where you have a bunch of photos you want to
open (eg: "/home/user/Photos")
2) choose one of those photos and open it
3) do what you need to do
4) then save the modified photo to another path (eg: "/tmp/ImagesForFriends")
5) go back to point 1 and you'll notice that the file selector is still
positioned on "/tmp/ImagesForFriends", while it should give the user the
possibility to open further images from the first path "/home/user/Photos"

Gimp should separate the "load path" from the "save path", instead of
positioning on last used one.

** Affects: gimp (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 154744] Re: When screen is locked, the default language for password entry should be the user's default language

2008-08-20 Thread galtbug
After spending a few hours with the gksu source code, it seems pretty
obvious to me that the problem is that the pop-up is not considered as a
new window, but as a tooltip.

>From libgksu's source code:

  if (context->grab)
dialog = g_object_new (GKSUUI_TYPE_DIALOG,
   "type", GTK_WINDOW_POPUP,
   "sudo-mode", context->sudo_mode,
   NULL);

>From GTK's documentation
>(http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/stable/gtk-Standard-Enumerations.html#GtkWindowType):
Windows with type GTK_WINDOW_POPUP are ignored by the window manager... many
GTK+ features that rely on the window manager will not work... GTK_WINDOW_POPUP
is used to implement widgets such as GtkMenu or tooltips that you normally
don't think of as windows per se.

So this bug seems to be caused by the dialog's lack of window management
features.

"2.22.1-0ubuntu" - "sudo apt-get install yelp-dbgsym=2.22.1-0ubuntu"
doesn't install properly - fails with message "E: Version ‘2.22.1-0ubuntu’

Also, as the program crashes that I had have not recurred, I am no longer
concerned about this problem.

[Bug 259383] Re: Imap in evolution doesn't work

2008-08-20 Thread Jon Oberheide
I'm also seeing this problem on Intrepid with 2.23.90 (although I
believe it was present in a previous version as well). I have two IMAP
accounts (gmail and university) and both are experiencing this issue of
not seeing mail in the inbox.

One way to workaround the issue is to open up Folder->Subscriptions and
uncheck and then recheck the inbox folder. An annoying workaround but
hopefully it helps narrow down the problem area.
