[Bug 296518] Re: Gimp 2.6 not working in 8.10
Hi, Oops! Looks like I gave you the wrong link there, that's for developers/triagers to debug program crashes. I think the best option for this would be to let the system automatically file it for you. You can do this by running: ubuntu-bug gimp This will attach all information needed and will create a new bug report, therefore I will close this one and work can begin when the other has been filed. Please ensure you cause the error/problem first before you run the above command. [Bug 275010] Re: Unable to disable the ssh module of gnome-keyring
Here is a workaround that can be enacted purely using non-root config: 1. Add the line unset SSH_AUTH_SOCK to ~/.xsessionrc (creating it if it doesn't exist). 2. Run gnome-session-properties and untick GNOME Keyring Daemon Wrapper. The first makes /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90x11-common_ssh-agent not decide that it should not start since there is already an existing agent. The second stops the g-k-r envvars being reinjected into the X session at a later point in startup. -- Unable to disable the ssh module of gnome-keyring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275010 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 287689] Re: gthumb --import-photos doesn't work in intrepid without intervention
Steve Langasek [2008-11-12 8:51 -]: This patch also changes the MimeType field in the standard gthumb desktop file, but this isn't mentioned in the changelog; what's the reason for this change? x-content/* is used for the what do you want to do with your camera import dialog when you plug one in, whereas image/* is used for open file with application.. in nautilus. Originally gthumb.desktop was used for import, too, which doesn't work (calling gthumb with gphoto:// URL). So the MIME types were split between gthumb.desktop (for image viewing, passing the image path) and gthumb-import.desktop for camera import, passing --import-camera). -- gthumb --import-photos doesn't work in intrepid without intervention https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287689 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gthumb in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 297086] Re: Rhythmbox crashes after downloading a podcast
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 218834] Re: dvd or cd does not mount
Hello all, the increase timeout hack has been reviewed upstream recently, and is debated (rightfully, since it was just a workaround). Could people who were affected by this bug please test whether an alternative and better approach works for them as well? I built a test package for 8.10 (intrepid, *not* for hardy) with Danny's proposed patch [1]. Please install it with: cd /tmp/ wget http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/tmp/hal-test-218834/hal_0.5.11-4ubuntu4+pitti1_i386.deb sudo dpkg -i hal_0.5.11-4ubuntu4+pitti1_i386.deb Then please check if your CDs are still recognized and automounted properly. After the test, you can revert to the original 8.10 package with sudo apt-get install hal/intrepid if you want. http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/tmp/hal-test-218834/ also contains the source package, in case you are interested. [Bug 294249] Re: gdm crashes after being logged in for a while
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Re: [Bug 294188] Re: Nautilus will not consistently Paste into SMB share.
Thank you. BTW, the issue is still there in once instance, and it's not user error (entirely). But it affects ONLY one Windows system. It has to have something to do with the configuration of that Windows target. I've done an exhaustive check of the file system and share permissions on the problem target in comparison to others where paste into folder works properly. I can discern no discrepancy. The only difference between this problem system and others is that it is using a Linksys USB dongle-style network adapter. I'm using WPA2 wireless G on the network. The real problem may have existed only on this computer all along, with user error cropping up on occasion with other targets to obfuscate the issue. I'm NOT asking that this bug be reopened. I don't have time right now to do proper testing. When I did, I'll move that Linksys wireless adapter around to other systems to see if I can duplicate the problem. If so, I'll report it. [Bug 109995] Re: Evince displays red haze over graphic elements
I tried this : apt-get install dpkg-dev apt-get source poppler apt-get build-dep poppler-- LOT of stuff here changed the source in poppler/CairoOutputDev.cc dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -b dpkg -i libpoppler3_0.8.7-1_amd64.deb Then I tried a red report, but it is still broken. [Bug 297217] [NEW] weather applet should allow for searching by municipality/state
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets The weather applet for the Gnome panel is great, except that the nearest city I could find was 27 miles away. I figured this could be a NOAA problem, but when I looked up my home town, it found a closer location (granted, still not close, but closer). So, my proposal is this: that the Weather applet should allow you to search by city/state, autodetect the closest weather station, and use that weather station. ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- weather applet should allow for searching by municipality/state https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297217 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-applets in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I talked about this issue with the uvcvideo maintainer. It seems it is strictly connected with gstreamer's v4l2src switch to libv4l2. Anyway he came up with a patch that fixes it, or at least fixes mine. [Bug 297226] [NEW] Identical applications.menu handling for GNOME, KDE (and XFCE)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-menus As part of the investigation for bug 297195 we (Kubuntu) noticed that GNOME doesn't use gnome-applications.menu like suggested in the desktop menu spec. [1] According to the Xubuntu people XFCE is going to implement the menu spec in upcoming version 4.6, so I guess having all 3 major desktops is a perfect reason to completely follow the specification's suggestion. That said. GNOME should use gnome-applications.menu and set the $XDG_MENU_PREFIX environment variable to gnome- in the script/application responsible for launching GNOME/creating the GNOME menu tree. Same will most likely be done for XFCE once 4.6 is available and KDE will follow this approach as part of the above mentioned bug' solution [1] http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/menu-spec-latest.html ** Affects: gnome-menus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Identical applications.menu handling for GNOME, KDE (and XFCE) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297226 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-menus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 297193] Re: Only one sub is displayed
Ok since this bugreport lacks important information I will try to to add useful information. reproduce Problem: - watch an anime with english subtitles - go to a scene where maybe a Japanese sign is translated via subtitle and a conversation is going or - go to a scene where there are 2 conversations going - but only the unimportant one is displayed Problem description: - only 1 subtitle is displayed - you may read the signs translation but are not able to follow the conversation as it's subtitles are not displayed as long the signs translation is shown expected behavior: - if two or more subtitles are supposed to be shown the same time - every subtitle text gets its own space to be displayed - this way you can read the signs translation or the unimportant conversation and still follow the important conversation This is a serious issue as this sort of scenes are very common in most anime. I have included an extracted subtitled where this very situation occurs at 14:49 min. In this scene the teachers dialogue is displayed but the main characters one isn't shown at all. This one is displayed: Dialogue: 0,0:14:49.74,0:14:58.29,SD_Overlap,,,,,,{\be1}{\an8}Usually, these can easily be mistaken for one another, so please take care. And these get dropped Dialogue: 0,0:14:50.66,0:14:52.78,Default,Saionji,,,,,{\be1}If you have enough time to study from a book, Dialogue: 0,0:14:52.78,0:14:55.58,Default,Saionji,,,,,{\be1}put some effort into getting to know the real Katsura-san.
