[Bug 292109] Re: System -> About Ubuntu incomplete after upgrade to 8.10

2008-11-29 Thread Michael
I get exactly the same problem with both the about and the version with
the following locale output:

LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"

LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

I do not and never had Ubuntu Studio installed. Also, not sure if this
related, but I loaded the OpenOffice 3.0 repos below but still, my
system never offers the upgrade so I am stuck on OpenOffice 2.4.

[Bug 303604] [NEW] rhythmbox could not open resource for reading

2008-11-29 Thread pwhitted
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I recently tried to use Rhythmbox to play music files that are on a
WinXP share, that had previously been added to the Rhythmbox library.
Each file that I attempt to play generates an "unknown error" message.
If I try to "Import from a folder", I can browse to the folder, but then
each file generates the "Could not open resource for reading" error. I
can browse to WinXP share, successfully mount it, and I can double-click
files and they will play in the Totem Movie Player. I was able to play
these MP3 files before. This is the first time I've tried playing them
since upgrading from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10. I have already gone back into
Synaptic and had it reinstall Rhythmbox, but even after restarting I
still get these errors.

Description:Ubuntu 8.10, Release:   8.10

[Bug 303597] [NEW] Syntax highlighting for selected text and matching brackets conflict

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Ubuntu 8.10
gedit 2.24.1-0ubuntu1

When you copy a set of brackets like () {} [] <> with its content and
paste it to another location, the syntax highlighting of the closing
bracket (due to highlighting matching brackets) remains even when the

[Bug 303528] Re: Message Filters for IMAP point to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2008-11-29 Thread hggdh
I can confirm, and I am marking it as triaged. I noticed it some time
ago on trunk, but never really paid attention until Jared sent an email
to evolution-list.

So, at least it affects 2.24.2 onwards.

Jared's explanation is pretty much it: set a filter targeting an IMAP
folder (action "move to folder"). Save it. Look at the
./evolution/mail/filters.xml, and the newly-created filter has a target
URI pointing to [EMAIL PROTECTED], instead of the correct IMAP account.

You can find the correct IMAP account by running on a terminal:

 gconftool-2 -g /apps/evolution/mail/accounts

Or (if you do not want to browse through all of the output, this:

 gconftool-2 -g /apps/evolution/mail/accounts | awk -F '=' '{print $2
$3}'

I should really spend some time actually investigating the problem in an

There seem to be several similar-but-not-identical bugs related to APM;

2008-11-29 Thread Daniel Goldsmith
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 291594 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291594

Hi all,

This is kind of a moot point anyway - the bug report is that F keys
don't work. Someone should file a new bug about media keys not working.

Also, this is absolutely not a duplicate, at least of the listed bug -
this bug has nothing to do with keyboard shortcuts. Either this bug
should be closed (the F-key issue is a user error) or the description
updated to reflect the new conversation. If there's some kind of
agreement I would be happy to update/file a new bug. (Also, according to
the forum thread linked to above, it may not be specific to only the
Microsoft keyboard).

[Bug 225827] Re: File search doesn't open .cs files

2008-11-29 Thread Arttu Korhonen
1) 8.04, Hardy Heron
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

2) WM_CLASS(STRING) = "gnome-search-tool", "gnome-search-tool"
2.20.0.1-1ubuntu5 (Is there an easy way to copy info from Synaptic?)

4) I noticed that when I did a search from my email files, that if I try to
double-click result files to open them I can't. Error message pop-ups, that
says something like "Opening of document XXX did not succeed.
No program found that could show the document." (I have partly translated
version, so I don't know the original message.)

3) But even if I try exactly the same file from file browser, it asks
what I wan't to do with that .eml file, and I can select to open it in
text editor. But that's even more wird, that some files (less than one
of a tenth) are opened directly into text editor, even from the search
window. They also have different icon, even the same extension.

Also, report bug link (ghelp:gnome-feedback) in search help did not
work, only error message pops-up, "malformed URI, no page can be
loaded".

[Bug 52722] Re: Consistent 15-second hang with no window painting at launch

Well this problem still exists... Without proper resolution we cannot go
to assume that this problem just disappeared, post HArdy I have to
gather some more information, but this problem still does exist. and
asking to close an unsolved BUG is a bad idea. Especially this
particular BUG!

ANY hang in Ubuntu is unacceptable, permanent resolution should attained
before this type of bug is closed.

[Bug 303536] [NEW] Brasero - wrongly reports insufficient space on media

2008-11-29 Thread Jonathan Musther
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

First noticed this bug on 8.04, still present in 8.10.

Brasero reports:

"Insufficient space on media (0 available for 357796)."

The log is attached.

This bug occurs consistently when attempting to burn audio CD's, but in
the latest instance, I was trying to burn a CD image.

To reproduce, try to burn an audio CD with one short track.

[Bug 293725] [NEW] Gnome Panel dissappears with dual screen configuration

2008-11-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Boot up Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex latest packages as of Nov 3 with dual
monitors. GDM login looks fine (duplicated on both screens), but when
log in nothing is displayed. The default background is a bit corrupted
but no Gnome Panel drawn. If I unplug the second monitor and CTRL-ALT-
BKSP restart X11 login things are fine with single screen. If I then
plug in the second monitor, go into System->Preferences->Screen
Resolution to turn it on, the problem is repeated.

Main Monitor: Laptop LCD: 1400x1050 resolution.
Second Monitor:  VGA 1600x1200 resolution.
Dual Monitor configuration: non-cloned, Second Monitor to left of Laptop LCD.

Other Configuration Information that may be relevant:
1. I switched my Window Manager to xfwm4 (install xfwm4, then go to
gconf-editor desktop->gnome->session->required_components to change to
/bin/xfwm4)
2. I edited the default panels to remove the bottom one and put everything I
care about on the top one. Panel shows on the Laptop LCD screen.

After configuring the system as above, with dual-monitors and xfwm4,
things look fine at first. Dual monitor support looks fine. Then power
down the machine. Power it back up, and the problem then happens.

p.s. Thanks for looking into this! :)

[Bug 295795] Re: ISO burn on Intrepid with Brasero will not mount

2008-11-29 Thread Peter Klotz
Burning Fedora 10 Live (i686 and x86_64) with Brasero 0.8.2 gives no
errors during burning but the resulting disks fail the integrated
checksum test of Fedora.

When trying to mount these disks in Ubuntu 8.10 one obtains the "L-EC
uncorrectable error" error messages already mentionend above.

When burning both Live CDs with K3b 1.0.5 they pass Fedora's internal
test and mount cleanly in Ubuntu 8.10.

Therefore I would conclude that there really exists a problem with
Brasero 0.8.2.

[Bug 303528] [NEW] Message Filters for IMAP point to lo...@local

2008-11-29 Thread Jared Greenwald
Public bug reported:

1) 8.10
2) evolution-2.24.2-0ubuntu1
3) I created a filter based on a mailing list whose action is to move the
message to a folder on an imap. When attempting to apply the filter manually
(via ctrl+y), the filter fails to apply resulting in an error in the status bar.
4) What is actually happening is that in the filter.xml file the filter is not
being recorded with the proper account information. Rather than having the
proper account id in the uri, the [EMAIL PROTECTED] account is used instead. I
imagine if the requested folder existed in the local folders, the filter would
not fail, but this is not the case.

Also forgot to mention that I've reported this to bugs.gnome.org

I suppose that is because the nature of nautilus, if a new process start

The Hardy behaviour is actually the misleading behaviour, as ~/.gvfs

Anyway, I'm closing this bug report, as the behaviour you describe is

[Bug 222532] Re: Option to connect to "secure webdav" network locations missing in nautilus

Not sure if this will work for the rest, but I just did a clean install
to Intrepid and needed to reconfigure my webDAV shares. The webDAV
option in "Connect to Server..." dialog was not working, so I ended up
simply using the "Custom" option and entered the https url to the webDAV
location I am trying to reach:

davs://server.address.com/folder/path/here/

I assume dav://server.address.com/folder/path/here/ will also work.

I was then prompted for my username/password via the keyring, and the
folder then opened properly in Nautilus.

[Bug 303478] [NEW] import doesn't work

2008-11-29 Thread Andriy Tymchenko
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

apt-cache policy rhythmbox
rhythmbox:
  Installed: 0.11.5-0ubuntu8
  Candidate: 0.11.5-0ubuntu8
  Version table:
 *** 0.11.5-0ubuntu8 0

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 0.11.5-0ubuntu6 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages

Import functionality doesn't work (both File and Directory)

Run rhytmbox, select menu Music then "Import file" or "Import folder"
(any of them) then

expected behavior - it opens file/directory dialog and gives you option to
choose and select (and import)
real behavior - dialog pops up "The folder contents could not be displayed.
Operation not supported" and then no way to choose and select, only file dialog
with dimmed/gray-out items.
