What program created the PCX file you have attached? I was able to open the file w/ GIMP and then resaved it as a PCX file and now everything else can read it. That seems odd, not entirely sure what's causing the issue yet. What I don't understand is how it can say something like 50% network in use. If I'm on a 100MBps lan does that mean I am moving 50MBps. No, certainly not. It could be an issue of scaling the graph. Maybe when you mouse over the applet it looks back at what your capacity and usage is and makes the graph of that. So we would likely see near zero percent. Otherwise maybe it looks at peak traffic information and scales from there, 50% of peak network usage. WORKAROUND: This issue doesn't arise if the system uses uswsusp rather than the kernel's method of hibernation. So, the fix is to force gnome-power- management to use s2disk rather than the kernel method. This is fairly simple to do: Download the attached script "hal-system-power-hibernate-linux" sudo apt-get install uswsusp sudo s2disk##Test to see if s2disk works. Hi Bryan, The files are converted from an early version of hppcl to pcx by a batch conversion program that runs in dos, it's ancient and I no longer remember where the two .exe files came from to do this, (possibly Orcad) I wrote a batch file to string them together back then.. (I've been using them for nearly 20yrs) The files are output from Orcad3 schematic capture. These files have always opened in every windows based viewer I have ever used and actually open fine in Gimp as well. I had not even considered the possibility that these files had some attribute that made them non compliant with the pcx file format. I could look for a recent windows based file converter and see if that produces files that are readable. In the meantime I will resave a couple of these files in gimp and see if gthumb can then read them. One other possibility is that they are normally stored on a dos partition (fat32), but this hasn't caused a problem with jpgs or anything else that I am aware of. I would be happy to send you the batch file and exe configured to run in dosbox if you are interested, but I wonder if that would be useful at all. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Using 2 UMS digital audio players (DAP - Iaudio 7 & Samsung YP-S3) with 2 different laptops, with Rhythmbox, versions 0.11.6 (on Intrepid) and 0.11.5 (on Hardy), here's what I'm experiencing: The 2 DAP shows up correctly in Rhythmbox and I can move files on them with both system. The problem is that with Rhythmbox on the Intrepid laptop, the options "remove" and "move to trash" (my translation from French) are greyed out in the contextual menu related to a file on a DAP. So basically, with the Intrepid laptop, I can't delete files on the DAP using Rhythmbox, while I can with Nautilus (or any other file manager or the command line). [Bug 312501] [NEW] sometimes gnome-settings-daemon fails to start after login
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon I'm running Ubuntu Intrepid, with gnome-settings-daemon 2.24.0-0ubuntu3.3. Sometimes when I log into Gnome, either after booting up or returning from 'Suspend', gnome-settings-daemon fails to start. There is no error message that I can see; I only know it isn't running because whatever theme I happen to be using is replaced with an ugly default. If I then start it from the command line it runs with no problem and my theme displays as normal. There are no errors or anything displayed on the command line. As far as I can tell, there is no particular pattern to when this happens. I'd guess it happens something like 1 in 4 or 5 times I log in. If there's any more information I can give you, let me know. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 / gcalctool 5.24.1 as well and it doesn't work. It is very irritating when working with larger numbers. And Kcalc is fine but consumes much memory with all KDE's libraries it is using. Judging from the number of times the thousands separator issue comes up in /usr/share/doc/gcalctool/NEWS.gz, I believe the code could use some work. Confirmed. Same here - since the hardy update. Does everyone here did an update or a fresh install? Was the user profile recreated? I have 2 users on my pc and one of them does not have this problem. I tried changing some screen saver related settings, but this did not seem to work. It looks that this is related to some setting somehow.
