Another "Me too." I'm using Spamassassin and the error started after upgrading from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10. My current work-a-round (to avoid status bar messages, even if they are bogus. . .and I don't know the answer to that), is to open a terminal and restart the Spamassassin daemon (sudo /etc/init.d/spamassassin restart). Basically, not sequence of reboot, login etc would cause the problem to go away. 4) after reading the above i wondered if there was a file in my home folder that needed to be moved / deleted etc. So what I did was use a terminal, cd into my home directory, and deleted files (one of each .jar, .png, .log, .iso, .jpg). 5) repeated step one after deleting some files from my home directory and voilà, everything was back to normal. -- Nautilus cpu usage of 100%, locks up when pressing the view-menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 150443] Re: No workspace switching with mousewheel with compiz
hello sebastien and alexander! like i said, i had no intention of being rude (if i was, i'm sorry) and i'm very well aware of bugfixing and much more being a community process of volunteers. i think i don't have to explain myself, i'm just not the coder type, while doing other things in the community. my only intention was, that somebody (a coder type) pays attention to this again, because imho this is an underestimated issue. it sure takes away a little of the usability of the gnome desktop managing. whereas you gain a lot of extra usability by using compiz, you are loosing some in comparison to metacity regarding the managment of multiple desktops. again, i'm not ignorant saying "fix this bug", i am kindly asking of rethinking your position on this bug. btw. with nobody feeling responsible i didn't mean a specific person, i was refering to a post in the compiz bug tracker, which made me think that nobody seems willing to say which code i "responsible" for the bug. thanks for reading, flo p.s.: Alexander, thanks for the offer, can i then keep the fix for myself? ... just kiding ;) -- No workspace switching with mousewheel with compiz https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150443 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 309434] Re: Caps Lock stops being a Control key with an external keyboard
I can confirm that, having mapped Caps Lock to Control, my laptop keyboard's Caps Lock acts as a control key but my external keyboard's caps lock does not. [Bug 309434] [NEW] Caps Lock stops being a Control key with an external keyboard
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have Caps Lock remapped to Control using the Gnome keyboard preferences. When I plug in an external keyboard, (in this case, a Microsoft Natural Keyboard), the mapping no longer works, and caps lock on the external keyboard works as a caps lock key, not as a control key. If I look in the keyboard preferences, it says that caps lock is mapped to control. I note that the caps lock key on the internal keyboard is still properly mapped to control, only the external keyboard is missing the mapping. xmodmap says the following without the external keyboard plugged in: [hup:0]% xmodmap -pm xmodmap: up to 3 keys per modifier, (keycodes in parentheses): shift Shift_L (0x32), Shift_R (0x3e) lock control Control_L (0x25), Control_L (0x42), Control_R (0x69) mod1Alt_L (0x40), Alt_R (0x6c), Meta_L (0xcd) mod2Num_Lock (0x4d) mod3 mod4Super_L (0xce), Hyper_L (0xcf) mod5ISO_Level3_Shift (0x5c), Mode_switch (0xcb) and with the external keyboard plugged in: [hup:0]% xmodmap -pm xmodmap: up to 3 keys per modifier, (keycodes in parentheses): shift Shift_L (0x32), Shift_R (0x3e) lockCaps_Lock (0x42) control Control_L (0x25), Control_R (0x69) mod1Alt_L (0x40), Alt_R (0x6c), Meta_L (0xcd) mod2Num_Lock (0x4d) mod3 mod4Super_L (0xce), Hyper_L (0xcf) mod5ISO_Level3_Shift (0x5c), Mode_switch (0xcb) Note that if with the external keyboard plugged in, I go to the keyboard preferences, and turn off the remapping of caps lock, and then turn it back on, the remapping sticks until the next time I unplug the external keyboard and plug it back in. Yet another data point: if I run xmodmap using the internal keyboard to type the command and run it, I get the expected xmodmap listing (the first one above), and if I do the same thing with the external keyboard, I get the second listing. (unless I've done the workaround just mentioned, in which case both maps are identical) So it looks like my keyboard settings are different for each keyboard, but there seems to be no way to discover this through the UI. I know I never had this problem with 8.04, and but I'm not sure if I've always had this problem with 8.10.
