[Bug 282345] Re: all calendar entries gone after update to 2.22.3.1
Pedro, thanks for your message. This is currently not an issue for me because I have switched to Thunderbird+Lightning in the meantime. I have therefore stopped to look for a solution to this issue and cannot give you any news. I tried to remove and re-install evolution but still was not able to get the Evolution calendar working again. Someone suggested that this might be an authorisation issue, which I tried to fix by changeing everything in the .evolution folder to 644 - but still had no success. I did not want to re-install Ubuntu or upgrade to 8.10, and therefore found it easiest to use Thunderbird/Lightning instead. I would love to use Evolution again and will give it a try once I have installed Ubuntu 8.10/9.04, mainly because I like the timezone features and Gnome integration. What made me worry a bit about Evolution was the difficulty to backup data (spread in different folders which need to be in sync) and its apparent instability, which may very well have been caused by myself fiddling with backups or authorisations. [Bug 154037] Re: files from ~ shown on desktop (desktop_is_home_dir == false)
Had the same experience on hardy. I had my sym-linked to a folder under an nfs-moint, but one time there was a problem mounting, so the Desktop was a broken link (to the a nfs-folder). When this happened the file ~/.config/users.dir was either created or changed and the important variable here was set XDG_DESKTOP_DIR=$HOME/ Changing this variable solved my problem (home folder displayed on dekstop). So in my case, this may not be a bug, because it is not obvious what the system shall do when the Desktop is a broken link. -- files from ~ shown on desktop (desktop_is_home_dir == false) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 328632] [NEW] gnome-thumbnail-font high cpu usage
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When browsing directories with pictures, eventually previews stop being shown and gnome-thumbnail-font begins using %50 to %100 of the CPU. Expected behavior is to show previews and not have high CPU usage. Upon loading upon my desktop, I am able to view the preview icons in nautilus. However, after going through a few directories, previews will stop showing and a process shows up gnome-thumbnail-font which takes %50 CPU usage and sometimes higher. The system starts responding slowly and sound skips. Killing the tasks solves the CPU usage, and the thumbnails will then show up. If I start browsing directories again, it will eventually reoccur. I've deleted the .thumbnails in my home directory a few times but it didn't help. I did not have this issue in Ibex, only in the latest alpha of Jaunty with all updates applied. [Bug 329389] [NEW] Party mode ununderstandable and undocumented
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox The manual does not explain what party mode is. The status bar help text is not helpful at all; when you hover the cursor over the Party Mode menu entry, it laconically says Change the status of the party mode. (Is that even English?) I was scared that it would ruin all my playlists and send my email address to the spammers, but I tried it anyway. It seems to toggle a full-screen view. Then why is it not called Full Screen? Does it do something more? The top Google hit http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=694932 seems inconclusive to me. [Bug 303023] Re: Nautilus desktop icons won't load
I was having this issue almost all of the time, but when I took a screenshot to attach to this post I realised what was happening. As you can see from the attached image, I have two monitors with the desktop spread over them, the left-hand one is a smaller 15 and the right-hand a larger 17. I had set the screen resolutions differently, so the 15 had 1024x768 and the 17 had 1280x1024. Rather than making the desktop non-rectangular as I had expected, it was rectangular at double the 17 size. Thus the icons were still on the desktop, but off the top of the 15 screen, and I didn't see them until I took a screenshot of the whole desktop! Its probably not the problem everyone in this thread is having, but it may be worth just checking your PC doesn't think that you have two screens attached and is putting the icons on the one you don't have (for instance if you are using a laptop check that you haven't got an external screen configured etc.). An issue that may or may not be relevant is that the buttons in the bottom panel which show which applications are open and allow you to switch between them mostly aren't showing (again see the screenshot). ** Attachment added: missing-icons.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/22608531/missing-icons.png -- Nautilus desktop icons won't load https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303023 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 328444] Re: gnome-terminal shortcuts: Alt+Shift+1 shows as Alt+! etc.
First, having Alt-!, Alt-@ and so on in tabs menu is wrong, and it doesn't let the user follow the logic 1 for first tab, 2 for second tab etc., instead it makes the user look for the non-numeric characters, causing confusion among non-exprerienced users. Second, have a look at eg. New Tab and Close Tab shortcut entries - Ctrl-Shift-T and Ctrl-Shift-W are given. My point is that if a shortcut requires pressing Ctrl, Shift and number 1 keys, they should be all displayed, instead of the character some combination may give and not including one or more required keys! Does this behaviour occur in any other Gnome programs? [Bug 329409] Re: crashes when opening .mp4 files
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp I was surprised when I printed a picture from the GIMP. [Bug 28805] Re: gnome-sound-properties dialog too high
Yes, I was moving things to right side long time ago but later I found it's not really good for some PC resolution only 800x480. That why my original patches (for other later apps and not attached here) usually guaranteed that the application do fit in 640x480. Currently we don't have projects that really use 800x480 but since most Microsoft apps do fit in 640x480, we should consider to archive the same thing. Microsoft Windows and Microsoft-made apps runs good on netbooks without modification because I guess their policy is 640x480. So if we move Default Mixer Tracks to right side, then it may not fit into 800x480, which is bad to EeePC 1st generation. -- gnome-sound-properties dialog too high https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/28805 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
