Re: [Bug 321009] Re: 'Broken Pipe' in Evolution email

2009-02-24 Thread Ken Anderson
After composing email, when I hit 'Send/Receive' I get message
box..."error while performing operation. Could not send message:broken
pipe." I have been using evolution email each time I log into
"twincitiesfreemarket.org" and replied to stuff online. It's easy, you
just highlight their email address and evolution comes up. I thought I
was getting thru w/ my emails. One day I tried to send out some pics and
the message came back 'broken pipe'. It was at this time that I saw I
had 29 unsent messages in outbox. Does this help? I also have issues w/
my java not loading. Ken

[Bug 333889] Re: volume control crashes rythmbox

2009-02-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 333895] [NEW] Volume Info Patch Incorrect

2009-02-24 Thread Rodney Dawes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

The current xdg-volume-info patch in the gvfs package is slightly
incorrect due to a small oversight. It should be looking for .xdg-
volume-info insead of .volume-info, which it is currently looking for.
This apparently made it into the patch without me catching it, as I was
using .volume-info to test as I have a patched glib with a similar
patch, which was rejected upstream, and which conflicts with this patch.
The fixed patch is attached here, as well as upstream (as soon as
upstream bugzilla stops failing to do anything useful).

[Bug 207208] Re: Tomboy throw error when saving synchronisation setting (webdav)

2009-02-24 Thread Nixblicker
Thank you for your advice, Alexey.

But - as i have a probably somehow extraordinary setup (Hardy on a G4 Powerbook
(PPC architecture - 2.6.24-23-powerpc)) that won't be that easy to do as the
newest announced version of Tomboy for this special port repo is
0.10.2-0ubuntu1.
Please correct me if i'm wrong but i suppose i have to wait until a nice
developer had ported the newer version to my type of arch., right?
Are there any alternatives to correct this bug in my actual version and how
could i archieve them?

Thanks in advance
Cheers, Nix

[Bug 333888] [NEW] mouse drags gedit tabs out of window

2009-02-24 Thread mellery
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

I'm using an up-to-date hardy on a latitude d820.

When moving the mouse anywhere over a gedit window with a few tabs open,
the cursor will switch to the drag icon. Clicking elsewhere on the
screen will create a new gedit window. I have to right click to cancel
the drag to a new location, but then mousing over gedit causes the same
problem. Gedit should only break out tabs when I click a tab and drag it
somewhere else myself.

2009-02-24 Thread Larry Reid
I have a laptop with which I use an external keyboard at times, and I
use two keyboard layouts. I have the same symptoms as others report
here: after suspend/resume or plugging in the keyboard, the second
keyboard layout becomes inaccessible. I have intrepid-updates enabled
and gnome-settings-daemon is at version 2.24.0-0ubuntu3.3. I thought
that should fix the problem. Am I missing something?

[Bug 300637] Re: autofill problem evolution enter breaks address

2009-02-24 Thread Bart
Example:
name in Evolution address book: Jansen, Sophie
Save as field in evolution: Jansen, Sophie
e-mail: sophie.jan...@work.com
e-mail: sophiejan...@gmail.com

The work address gives the problem. If I type 'sophie'
'.jan...@work.com' appears behind the cursor.
If I then enter on the keyboard, I get the following:
"jansen, Sophie" , jan...@work.com>

On other addresses an enter on the keyboard will give:

[Bug 333857] [NEW] nautilus does not handle missing template folders well

2009-02-24 Thread Michael Nagel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

i have deleted my templates folder and nautilus does not handle this very well.
clicking on "Go->Templates" brings me to my home folder.

(that is at least consistent with
XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/"
line from .config/user-dirs.dirs)

however this setup is not very useful because i most certainly do not
want to have my templates in my home folder (or put it the other way
round: all my files as a template). and secondly, it does not work, i.e.
even the files that are in my home folder are not available as
templates...

i suggest that a non-existent template dir should not be changed to
$HOME and i should be offered some assistance when clicking on
"Go->Templates" in this case.

Re: [Bug 331825] Re: evolution-alarm-notifier .desktop file not translatable in the startup programs dialog

2009-02-24 Thread Attila Hammer
Before anybody applying my patch, do following commands:
1. create any directory and go the created directory.
2. Extract evolution source.
3. applying the needed diff file (evolution_2.25.91.diff)
4. type following command:
cp
evolution-2.25.91/evolution-2.25.91/debian/evolution-alarm-notify.desktop
evolution-2.25.91/evolution-2.25.91/debian/evolution-alarm-notify.desktop.in
This step required, because evolution-alarm-notify.desktop.in not exist
with evolution-2.25.91/evolution-2.25.91/debian directory.
5. Applying my patch.

When I ran intltool-update hu command with po directory, I see correct
with Evolution Alarm Notifyer message.
But, when I recompile and install evolution, the new translated message
not see with startup applications, in evolution-alarm-notify.desktop
file not contains the new translated fields.

[Bug 240437] Re: Users-admin fails with AMD-K6 processor

2009-02-24 Thread Roger Miller
Using Xubuntu 9.04 Live CD:

gnome-desktop-data is already installed.
Try to install gnome-desktop-environment (including all dependencies) via
Synaptic.

Message; "Some of the packages could not be retrieved from the servers"
- Continued

Various errors occurred during installation, including "no space left on
device".

Running users-admin from terminal and from menu GUI reports "The
configuration could not be loaded. You are not allowed to access the
system configuration".

Summary: Using the Jaunty Live CD I am unable to "install" gnome
desktop, probably due to low PC RAM (311MB) and poor processor spec
(AMD-K6 500MHz).

It would be helpful if another Xubuntu user experiencing this problem
(and with a better PC!) would try installing gnome desktop and then
report progress here.

theme's gtkrc. Thanks to Cody Russell for the patch! (LP: #331445)
  * 35_gdm.conf.patch: Change default background color to black, as
requested by artwork team (will better match the future Jaunty

  * Add 73_disable_user_input_tooltip.patch: Disable tooltip for
login/password input line. It is confusing if it pops up
automatically (depending on screen resolution this happens if the
input box is in the screen center), and not all that helpful. As
per request from artwork team. (LP: #331448)

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

[Bug 333808] [NEW] GTK Save window, going down every time it appears

2009-02-24 Thread carlogray
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

To make easy to reproduce this error, just open the Firefox and click in
some file to make download, it will open the "Save as" Nautilus dialog
box. Observe the window position, than close that dialog box and click
again on the link (file download) so it opens the "Save as" dialog box,
and you'll see that this opens a little down. Make this for more times
and you'll see that the dialog box, will going down until it touches the
Gnome bar.

I realized this error at my e-mail, where I have lot of things to download
"Save as" or "Open". And the Nautilus "Save as" windows are going down and down.

[Bug 333794] [NEW] Unicode character input restricted to three hex digits

2009-02-24 Thread Max Bowsher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I've just noticed (this is a regression from Intrepid) that when I try
to enter a four digit unicode character by means of the "Hold down
Ctrl+Shift, type U, followed by hex digits, release Ctrl+Shift" method
(specifically, 20AC == euro-currency symbol), that gnome-terminal only
permits the entry of three hex digits. (The full four digit code is
accepted by other programs - I tested thunderbird and xchat).

[Bug 320817] Re: F-spot CDExport dialog exceed 600 pixel height when the screen is small

2009-02-24 Thread Ying-Chun Liu (GrandPaul)
Sorry, do you mean assign 0.7 as an argument?
Or Height*0.7??
According to
http://www.go-mono.com/docs/index.aspx?link=T%3aGtk.Window%2f*

The Resize member function reads two int.
I'm not sure if there's two float version of Resize.
If there is, Resize(1.0,0.7) is better.

But if we have to use Resize(int, int), it means we have to convert
Height to float and *0.7 and convert it back to int which may not faster
than two int operation *7 /10.

I'm not familiar at C# and Mono so I'm not sure which one is real
faster. But usually two int op is faster than one float op, right?
