[Bug 316924] Re: Nautilus Loads Processor
StewPedassle While reading your logs, it seems like you have some images in "Themes/Icons/..." located in your home folder. Please try removing those folders, and disabling the preview feature of nautilus. Since I cannot reproduce this bug, I don't know what else to suggest. Try reproducing this bug in several conditions. Try the different views: list, compact, icon; disable and enable compiz; check for hidden files; check file names with special characters. Also check "top" or "htop" for any suspicious process. [Bug 341141] Re: Baobab reports incorrect sizes
Strange indeed. I doubt there is something radically different between Hardy's and Interpid's enviroments! Err... except me using 64bit Interpid and having 32bit Hardy LiveCD. I think I should also download Interpid 32bit (x86), just to be sure it is not on 64bit only. I thought there could be a change in dependent packages. However those are largely shared with nautilus. There is however libgnomevfs2-0 (used by gnome-utils) and gvfs-backends (used by nautilus), what seems to be two packages with the same apparent purpose. I'm really not sure if this is relevant at all, but it is only lead I have so far. -- Baobab reports incorrect sizes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/341141 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 338321] Re: Totem movie player not playing DVD Video
So to sum up (please confirm I'm right): - installing gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad did actually change something and made video appear - sound is not working well though over the whole desktop The sound problem is not linked to GStreamer since Xine has it too. I'd suggest you check options in System->Administration->Sound. What do you mean by "mucked up"? poor quality, noise, or interruptions? You should report a separate bug for that. Sebastien: the new ResinDVD plugin is included in gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, which means that this package is required to read DVDs. This is not what the docs say (they're not up-to-date): they only tell you to install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly. [Bug 343653] [NEW] No good way to apply settings for font resolution
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When changing the font resolution on System -> Settings -> Appearance -> Fonts -> Details (could be slightly different due to i18n), there is no way to apply the new setting other than to click on of the (unrelated) controls on the window. While it's not a major annoyance at all, it probably would be equally easy to fix with an apply button next to the text box. Atm, i'm setting the resolution to one ppi lower and click the one up button, or one of the already selected combo controls or whatever to apply the settings. Version is Ubuntu 8.10, up to date as of 16. [Bug 343580] [NEW] Odd behaviour creating a hidden folder on the desktop on Ubuntu Intrepid
You have been subscribed to a public bug: when I right click and create a new folder on the desktop and then rename the default "untitled folder" beginning with a stop for example. .house then click outside for the new name to take effect the default name still shows instead of the new name. right clicking on the desktop and unchecking keep aligned causes the name to update and show the .house name. I thought this was just a refresh issue but I then noticed this strange behaviour dragging the .house folder from the desktop to another folder results in the new .house folder showing up in the destination folder but there is still a .house folder remaining on the desktop when the desktop .house folder location is checked it shows that it is in the destination folder and not on the desktop The folder should have been moved from the desktop to the destination folder logging out and then logging in the .house folder on the desktop disappears, refresh will not help if I had chosen not to logout and proceeded to move the desktop .house folder to trash it seems at first that nothing happened as if the desktop .house folder can not be deleted, however if I then refresh the desktop icons by right clicking it and uncheck keep aligned the .house folder on the desktop turns into a white file looking icon with the same .house name and will only go away if I log out and then login by this time the .house folder in the folder that I dragged to will have been sent to trash by this action. of course it would, after all the desktop .house folder had shown from its properties that it was in the destination folder. I suspect that some of this behaviour has something to do with how Gnome works special icons for example but there sure seem to be some bugs there as well. This caused some data loss for me, fortunately the data was not important and was backed up anyway. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Odd behaviour creating a hidden folder on the desktop on Ubuntu Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/343580 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hi we replicated the problem with the sound today. I took the Netbook into the dealer and they reinstalled the Ubuntu from the recovery disk supplied with the Netbook. The sound worked well. We tested it at their facilities and I tested it at home. I then received a notification that there are security upgrades available. I ran upgrade manager and 161 suggested upgrades were suggested. I let the upgrade manager do the upgrades. I then found an hour later that the we have the same problems with the sound as previously. This is a problem for me as I use my Netbook daily and want to make sure the security updates are in place but loose the sound functionality in the process.
