[Bug 349576] Re: hangs for several seconds when exiting a folder with many files
I will try to absorb all this info and test it. It's a lot of new things but after a quick scan they look clear enough. Meanwhile if anybody else allready knows how to get a backtrace I should note that I've reproduced the problem on another 8.10 installation and I can give a two step summary on reproducing it: 1) execute these commands to create a folder with 3000 files mkdir ~/foo3000 ; cd ~/foo3000 for i in $(seq 1 3000); do touch file$i ; done 2) use nautilus to enter the folder foo3000 in your home directory, select all files and hit alt-[up arrow] to return to the parent folder -- hangs for several seconds when exiting a folder with many files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/349576 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 351033] Re: Crash when adding customised reminder to a newly added appointment
Hello I am running the standard gnome Ubuntu and have Apport is enabled, but it seems the crash isn't caught by it! Regarding reproducability: I forgot to mention that the crash happens with a Google calendar (sorry about that). I tested the same procedure with a local calendar without issues, but the same with a Google calendar crashes every time. I know it's an old bug but I'm still stuck with the I2C errors. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 with kernel version 2.6.24-23 (upgraded from 7.10), and the errors are still there. I recently upgraded v4l drivers and switched to 1.20 firmware, with no luck. I also tried the delay solution founded by hugolp. Is it possible to continue with this issue? [Bug 335307] Re: Please enable language support for Crimean Tatar (Crimean Turkish) locale (crh)
Despite my inability to manually get it to work, as mentioned in my last comment, Martin might well be right about /etc/gdm/locale.conf being the roadblock, and it might start working when the package is built in a manner that addresses this. I hope this can be addressed in gdm in time for jaunty release. P.S. As a side note, in case this tells anything to anybody, crh is also missing from the following, but i do not know whether that affects the gdm languages list issue: a. /usr/share/language-selector/data b. /usr/share/locale/ -- Please enable language support for Crimean Tatar (Crimean Turkish) locale (crh) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335307 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 352123] [NEW] Nautilus 2.26.0 unable reenter network drives
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When a NAS such as FreeNAS is used and ubuntu mounts a drive via a samba share, Ubuntu mounts and accesses the drive correctly. While activity is occuring the connection seems to be reliable. However if after a period of time the user does not use the connection (say half an hour) Nautilus or via the desktop icon the user is unable to enter the network drive. The only way to fix the problem is to drill down from places>Network>FreeNAS>landrive and then it NAS drive would mount. A second icon is then added to the desktop. If however you drill down with places>Network>Windows Network>WORKGROUP>FreeNAS>landrive the drive will not mount and displays the message. " Could not display "smb://freenas/landrive/" "The file is of an unknown type" I know there is not issue with the FreeNAS drive as it is serving files to my xp windows machines just fine. [Bug 352108] [NEW] location bar buttons revert to copied path
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus With several tabs already open, I right clicked on a location bar button associated with one of them and selected to open a new tab at that location and dragged it to be before the initial tab. Initially, the new tab's location bar buttons were for that path. I then navigated to a directory 1 level down from there. After then clicking the Back toolbar button, the location bar buttons remain the same, but the selected one changes to correctly reflect the current directory. However, if I then select the tab that was selected when the current one was created and then switch back to the new tab, the location bar buttons reflect the path for the original tab. [Bug 352105] [NEW] file save-as bug in Nautilus 2.24.1
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi, I have to report a HUUGE monster bug in Nautilus 2.24.1 Ubuntu 8.10 up to date as of 3/30/09 with regards to saving an image. the problem is that it will happily overwrite an image even if the "user" tells it to save the image with a different name, IF the target file was original selected from the "recent files" list. Try this. 1-View a page on the web that has a jpeg, thusly: http://www.flickr.com/photos/focusman55/3398649768/ 2-right-click on the image, save it to your desktop. 3-find the image on the desktop, double-click it, it will open in a viewer. Close the image. The image should now be at the top of the "recent documents" list. Check this by going to the places menu and then "recent-documents", the top entry should open to the same image. 4-save the image (or any other image) again, the same way, but this time in the "save image" dialog click on "recently used" in the left part and click on the top entry in the list, on the right side. You should see the picture on the right (in a thumbnail viewer) and the filename at the very top in the file-box. Click on the name and *change the name* in the filename dialogbox, then hit alt-s to save the file with that name. Right? Wrong. You just overwrote the original image, that you clicked on in the "recent documents" list. Try it again, this time using the "desktop' link on the left side, then clicking on the image-file, then changing the name in the "filename" dialog. Hit alt-s or save. Now you have a new file with that name containing the image that you want to save. As long as you select an entry in the "recently used" file list just before saving, you will overwrite that file, regardless of whatever you have set the "filename" dialog to. Not only will it save the file with that name regardless of whatever you put in, it will save it in that *directory* (which was the point of my using the "recently used" list in the first place). How's that for a quick & easy way to lose a few days worth of work? ** Affects: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- file save-as bug in Nautilus 2.24.1 https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/352105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 340294] Re: The Poker game in AisleRiot Solitaire does not record the high scores
Hello, I'll try to clarify the bug I reported. I have played the poker game many times. If I go to Game, Statistics, it reports Wins 0, Time N/A (because it doesn't think I've won any; even though I've won (scored above 120) many times). It also reports the Total games I've played, Worst time N/A and Percentage 0% (again because it doesn't think I've won any). I always play in Shuffle mode (where you can move the cards around) which means I need to score 120 or above to "win". In my opinion, because it is in "Shuffle Mode" it doesn't know when the game has finished. When I am satisfied with the score, I have tried pressing the new game button on the bar, going into Game, New and even the CTRL-N option to signal the game I have completed the game I am playing and wish to start another. Since that never has recored a win I even tried Game, Close after finishing a game in the 150 range to see if that might by chance record the win. It didn't. I never play in non-shuffle mode, but that is obvious to the game when it is over. When that last card is placed, the game is finished. If 70 or over, record the details to the statistics. I never play this way so I don't know if it actually will record a win to the statistics. I have also found a random bug in the game that happens quite often. The score can be over by 10 of what the cards actually add up to be. I used the chart supplied in the help to add the horizontal, vertical and both diagonals and found this happens more often than one would expect. I noticed the bug when I moved one card that should have added 10 points (a full house) but it didn't add anything to the score. I added the score up and it was right. I moved the card back and added the score up again, but this time the score reported was over the cards by 10 points. I don't know how to reproduce this error short of playing a few games while watching the score to see if it adds as expected and manual adding of the 12 hands. I hope this helps... -- The Poker game in AisleRiot Solitaire does not record the high scores https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/340294 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 330745] Re: file-roller hangs a while when extracting item via drag and drop
I have not observed File Roller coming back to life, but perhaps I am just impatient. Most recent (reproducible) incident... I downloaded this archive: http://downloads.mozdev.org/flashblock/flashblock-1.5.7.1.xpi Found flashblock.jar in the archive and dragged / dropped it into Nautilus. This file is about 80 kb. File roller hanged and would not close. It was eventually forced to exit, which I assumed did the trick. Hours later, my system is firing its fans off continually. Curious (especially given that CPU was running at the minimum 36% frequency), I opened System Monitor. By this time, file-roller was consuming 1.1 GB of memory and was still labelled as a regular sleeping process. mv was listed as a child process; its status was Zombie. Sorry, I killed the thing in a hurry so didn't collect any more detail, but the failure should be easily recreated. This was generated with a small, uncomplicated archive extracting a single file. I have experienced it with every archive I have used so far. Like the reporter, I do not have a problem extracting the file through the application's menus; only through dnd. [Bug 352021] Re: nautilus quits when inserting cd/dvd
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
