The new GDM does not support logging into remote systems. To workaround
this problem thin clients should run an older version of GDM (e.g. by
running Jaunty).

You could replace Depend on libcanberra-gtk with Build-Depend on
libcanberra-gtk-dev for clarity.

Also the new gdm FTBFS for some reason.

[Bug 339169] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in strtoul()

2009-08-25 Thread Jerome Warnier
Using http://www.gnome.org/~sragavan/evolution-rebuild-summarydb stated that my
DB was corrupt:
$ ./evolution-rebuild-summarydb
Rebuilding Table ./local/folders.db
Rebuilding Table ./vfolder/folders.db
Rebuilding Table ./imap/jwarn...@mail.b.n/folders.db
SQL error: database disk image is malformed

I'm using IMAP, so all my e-mail is stored on the server. I then completely
deleted my local cache directory: ~/.evolution/mail/imap/jwarn...@mail.b.be/.
I started Evolution, which resynchronized all my e-mail and is working again.

Re: [Bug 395299] Re: gdm 2.26 has no graphical configuration tool

2009-08-25 Thread Claudio Moretti
What I meant was (and remember that I have never put an eye in GDM code)
that if we can use he old configuration tool graphics as a base for building
the ew configuration tool, it would help users in understanding how to work
with the config tool.
What worries me is the fact that if old GDM and new GDM are not compatible
even in the config tool, there will be a not-so-small problem in porting GDM
login screens, etc.
I saw my custom login screens disappear one day after an uprade, replaced by
the standard GDM login screen; that worried me.
BTW, I had reported it as a new bug (bug #395770), but it was marked as a
duplicate of this...

that gdmsetup does not work with the old GDM so it will not work until
your system has been restarted after an upgrade from 2.20.

Something similar happens to me in Jaunty.
The list of hosts under network:/// is out of date, containing hosts that no
longer exist and missing some hosts that have recently joined the network.
I can see an updated list under smb:///, where I see a workgroup icon, and
then under smb://workgroup/, where I see the full list of available hosts.

[Bug 405340] Re: Conky background uses gtk_color_scheme's window background color, at random

2009-08-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package conky - 1.7.2-0ubuntu1

---
conky (1.7.2-0ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
- Improved Lua API (lua_read_parse has been removed in favour of the
  conky_parse() Lua API call).
- Cairo and Imlib2 bindings for Lua.
- Built-in weather support.
- Added own_window_type panel.
- Added border_inner_margin and border_outer_margin.
The border_margin config option is now deprecated.
- Added format_human_readable option.
- Added fancy new 'temperature gradients'.
- Several new variables such as $blink, $curl, $desktop, $entropy_perc,
  $swapfree, $to_byte and $top_io.
- Comments in TEXT section are now possible.
If necessary the comment character (#) can be escaped with a
  backslash (\#).
- Added a different default configuration file for builds without X11.
- Added io_perc, io_read and io_write to $top.
- Alignment special variables can now be used with objects that span
  multiple lines.
- Enhanced Imlib2 cache control.
- $battery_short can now also display F (full), N (not present),
  E (empty) or U (unknown).
- Counteless bug fixes (LP: #405701, LP: #405340, LP: #405188).
  * Complete overhaul of the packaging (LP: #294933, LP: #387209):
3 binary packages are now created: conky-cli, conky and conky-all.
conky-cli is a basic package that could be used in servers
or piped with dzen2,
conky supports the most commonly used variables,
conky-all includes almost all of the available support.
Use conky-all if you are not sure of your needs.
Some of the packaging changes include:
- copyright is now in line with the new format specification
- rules has been overly simplified
- short/long descriptions have been updated
- TODO is not installed anymore, lua.html is installed
- README.Debian has been obsoleted
- no change bump of Standards-Version
- added NEWS and README.source
- changed automake from automake1.10 to automake1.11, since the former
  has been obsoleted.

[Bug 418503] Re: Regression: gnome-volume-control segfaulting on startup in Karmic

2009-08-25 Thread Chris Coulson
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 417598] Re: Totem Movie Player 2.26.1 Buttons disappearing

2009-08-25 Thread isotope
First answers to your questions:
-Yes, this is reproducible. At least on my laptop :)
-I played a bit with this bug and revealed few more conditions of its
occurrence:
--It does not happen when I initially start player. But starts after I minimize
the window and maximize it again or resize window. I'm attaching screen shots
so you have better idea how it looks like.

I would suspect problems in window redraw procedure.

Few more hints on my hardware setup:
-HP 6735s Laptop
-Samsung SyncMaster 2243nw LCD monitor.
-I have laptop screen disabled and using proprietary drivers for ATI Radeon HD
3200 graphics card.

[Bug 418528] [NEW] Library mess up the display

2009-08-25 Thread Suyu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Hello,

I've just installed Ubuntu 9.04 32 bits on my desktop yesterday.
So I was transfering my files from my HDD, and then came my music folder.
I copied/pasted it to /home/xavier/Musique.
In addition, I've deleted all .jpg and .ini file created by Windows. Just kept
the .mp3 files.

And... there's a bug. I told RhythmBox in the Options, that my library folder
is /home/xavier/Musique.
In the input field, it's written: file:///home/xavier/Musique

And then RhythmBox build the library, I can see my music, ok. BUT, the Duration
is UNKNOWN.
Almost all my files got an UNKNOWN duration.

I've tried to cut/paste my music folder into another folder, like the Videos
one. I launched with RhythmBox a single music (NOT set the library on Videos),
I could see the duration.
I've tried to launch the music file (.mp3 remember) with The Video Player (the
default one), I could see the duration.

So that must be a bug linked to library function.

Thank you.

[Bug 412325] Re: evolution-data-server-2.28 crashed with SIGSEGV

2009-08-25 Thread Scott James Remnant
Please don't just reassign bugs to libdbus without first verifying that
they are dbus bugs; this looks like an evolution-data-server bug
(freeing an already free watch); it could also be a libdbus-glib bug,
gvfs bug, etc.

[Bug 400097] Re: system won't suspend on lid close

2009-08-25 Thread David Koppenhofer
Please reopen this bug. I have my Power Management settings set to
Suspend when the lid is closed for both AC and Battery - neither works
in 9.04UNR. I have an Acer Aspire One D250.

I tried Karmic alpha4, and had the pleasure of submitting a crash report for
the launcher before testing the suspend bug. :-}
It turns out that the suspend-on-lid-close still didn't work.

I didn't follow steps 2 3 from comment 5 yet. I can't say when I'll
be able to do so.

Thank you,
David

[Bug 418569] [NEW] Security: Issue with filesystem access right while creating a file

2009-08-25 Thread mcglnx
Public bug reported:

Here is the use case:
- I need 2 users (u1 and u2) in group 'family' to access the same f-spot
photos. (sharing)
- I create common repository with symlinks.
- I change the rights as follow: chgrp -R family *; chmod -R g+s *; chmod -R
g+rw *
- Both u1 and u2 have umask = 002.

Issue:
If user u1 is importing new pictures, user u2 cannot see them.

Diagnosis:
f-spot does not respect the group and right propagation, and force to chmod 700
(windows like)

Ubuntu: 9.04
f-spot: Installed: 0.5.0.3-1ubuntu6

I agree this bug should remain open. The problem is that you should be
able to follow the steps in comment #8, but if you do follow those
steps, it doesn't work.

@David: when you test this bug, make sure you upgrade gnome-power-
manager to the latest version first (through apt-get or synaptic) since
there have been some recent bug fixes. Thanks!

[Bug 418416] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in check_header()

2009-08-25 Thread C de-Avillez
Thank you for opening this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. It seems,
from the stacktrace, that the fault is related to the libmalaga/voikko
language tools. Perhaps you can try momentarily disabling (or
uninstalling) libmalaga and/or *voikko*, and see if this will allow you
to use Evolution.

Meanwhile, I am checking upstream for a similar issue.

Setting public -- no private data in stacktraces.
